Good luck with the scan and Harmony test today beetling . Since you are already 11 weeks you could even ask if they can see the nasal bone and nuchal thickness. It wouldn't be definitive, but if that looks positive it may make the wait for results a little easier.

I also can't get through to my hospital. I never try to call now, it's quicker to wait until the next appointment and then talk to the receptionists. However last time I was there it was the second day of a new computer system and they really didn't know how to use it. Hopefully that will improve by next time!

moggle the tiredness is horrific. I'm still a bit weary, but nowhere near like I was in the first 12 weeks when I would get home and have a little cry I was so happy to be able to sleep again! I live about an 8 minute walk from the tube, and I remember coming back from work one night and standing outside the station contemplating a cab to take me home....

Much better now, although an afternoon nap is still very welcome where possible! I had 30 minutes when I got home last night at 6pm and it made a huge difference.

eurochick · 29/04/2014 10:41

nobeer centime is a pun on my username on here. :) He/she is a bit teeny for dates, but about 30cm long now, according to my app!

I'm glad you managed to get the appointments sorted, beetling.

I'm shattered. Preggo tiredness plus jetlag is not a good combo. At least after a while off the coffee I'm so caffeine sensitive that even a decaff will give me a bit of a lift.

BeetlingAbout · 29/04/2014 10:42

Not going for the Harmony anymore, Time as i have managed to get my nhs testing in time. I rang the FMC and they couldn't fit me in, in time, so the decision was made for me in the end.

euro of course! Sorry, was being a bit dim! Is it too early to blame pregnancy brain?

vallinnapod · 29/04/2014 16:20

Urgh - still waiting for my bHCG....and mentalling becuase I rang the clinic and the have my progesterone and E2 back but not bHCG....It was all in the same tube of blood!! They are ringing the lab.

No idea why I am mentalling when this one really doesn't mean anything...unless it is below 5 and then I will be distressed.

MENTAL!

vallinnapod · 29/04/2014 16:43

Well, they results are in. Whilst it doesn't mean that much on it's own it was my consultant who rang (rather than a nurse) as at this stage the expect the bHCG to be around 70.....mine was 1084 Blush looks like they both may have stuck.

SecretGeek · 29/04/2014 16:48

Yay, great news vanilla

Hope the scan went well bear

moggle Envy your place of work. I'm suffering insomnia - I lie awake from 2:30-5am most days then what to cry when I have to get up for work at 6:30am.

SecretGeek · 29/04/2014 16:49

Sorry vallinna. Stoopid auto correct!

Badhairday76 · 29/04/2014 17:25

Thanks ladies.

Yes Bad - two day 3's.

Bearsandhoney · 29/04/2014 21:43

Val: as I said on the other thread, that's stupendous news. Woo hoo!! SmileSmileSmile

Beetle: yay for getting your appointment sorted. X

Moggle: your work sounds pretty relaxed. What a result!

I am really embarrassed to admit this: I had to wear maternity jeans today Blush. I have put on weight during this last year/18 months and now at a mere 7+3 I cannot fit my biggest jeans. And I know its not a baby bump. Please someone tell me I'm not alone BlushBlushBlush.

Badhairday76 · 30/04/2014 07:50

Bears - I was exactly the same! In maternity clothes 2-3 weeks after transfer. Don't despair - it will be your swollen ovaries at first, then the bump will take over! At 7 weeks a lady in the park asked when I was due. I found it quite reassuring to be honest. I enjoy looking pregnant though, although I know some women don't like getting big. I've put on one stone, 3 pounds already at 16, plus 2 days which is a lot, but I couldn't care less!

Hello to everyone else! X

time2deal · 30/04/2014 07:57

I put on a stone during two IVF cycles and was a bit horrified at my weight when they weighed me for EC. I think I was pretty bloated as I lost a few kg in the first weeks, put it back on, then lost 4-5 kg in a week after an operation at week 12 when I couldn't eat anything. Now I'm back at the EC weight! So in theory I've not put on weight, but its all over the show really.

I'm quite overweight already so I don't want to gain too much weight, but at the same time I want to be healthy for the baby - so I'm trying not to care and just let it happen.

I've no proper bump though and I want one! 17 weeks today.

Hope everyone has a good Wednesday. I'm heading out now to brave the strike afflicted tube network.

eurochick · 30/04/2014 08:03

Wow val, that's great.

My weight gain has been uneven. I was normal bmi to start with (although close to my heaviest ever). I put on 10 pounds by 10 weeks as the nausea and tiredness just made me want carbs. And then it really slowed so I had put on just over a stone in total by 20 weeks. I haven't weighed myself since I got back from the US, but I suspect I have just overtaken mr euro...

moggle · 30/04/2014 10:40

I've only put on a few lbs so far at 11 wks as I've been lucky with the lack of sickness, although I've been eating a lot fruit and salad has seemed to satisfy me as well as carbs (although I have had a few amazing Big Macs over the past couple of months...). But those 4lbs are all on my tummy and waist, my jeans are feeling really tight. I need to dig out some bigger clothes; I lost about 8lbs during last summer/autumn from cycling (the bike type, not ivf!) so hopefully the jeans from before that will fit me for another month or so and then I can look at mat stuff.

vallinnapod · 30/04/2014 12:16

Weight-wise - I actually lose a bit during the oestrogen phase of FETs - only a couple of lbs but then the second one bum bullet is up there I put on 3-4.

I am heavier at this stage than I was with DS (but that was just 5-6lbs that has crept on/never left after having him). My only weight worry is I want my maternity clothes to fit when it comes it it!! My thighs are definately chunkier.

With DS I didn't go into maternity clothes until about 24 weeks...with my PG in the summer my trousers were tight around 9 weeks but I just looked bloated. Which is the stage I am at now.

nobeer · 30/04/2014 13:09

I haven't put on any weight, but put on loads last summer due to ohss. I've lost it now, and think I've lost a bit more in the last couple of months as I'm on a gluten free diet (or biscuit free diet as I like to call it). I've no idea how much I weigh, I've got my first midwife appointment this afternoon so she might want to know then.

Hi val I was getting awful period type pains (seems to have stopped today) but been assured it's normal. Can you check with GP?

As for the nausea, midwife has just told me I need to eat something every 2 hours!

Badhairday76 · 30/04/2014 16:30

Try not to worry Vall - it sounds normal, although I know it's worrying for you.

Eating every two hours (or hour) is the way to go, Nobeer!

My midwife kept saying 'you don't need any extra calories' in early pregnancy and I just laughed and said 'bollocks'. I think you need to eat loads more to keep sickness at bay and feel normal. When I wake up in the morning I am so starving I have to get up and start eating carbs else I feel sick and horrible. I was a whale last time but had lost the 3 stone I put on after 6 months through breastfeeding. In my experience, it really made a huge difference. When my DS was 6 months old I was still breastfeeding about every 3 hours and was back down to just over 8 stone, but was eating cake, biscuits, crisps etc way more than I would do usually just to keep going. For me it was the best weight loss tool ever (in fact it was one of the reasons why I kept going until my DS was 13 months!) they say you only need to eat extra calories in the last few weeks but i was so full of baby by then that I couldn't fit much in. Anyway, am rambling on because am trying to say that everybody is different and everybody gains different amounts of weight. I think it's best to just listen to your body and give it what it needs. I crave juicy sugary things when pregnant, so am eating huge amounts of fruit whereas I don't usually eat enough of it. All this talk is making me hungry now.....

vallinnapod · 30/04/2014 20:01

Thanks ladies. Having one of those days. My boobs aren't as sore and my Dr Google fixation is going nuts...

SecretGeek · 30/04/2014 20:16

bad I totally agree. I haven't suffered ms at all but have been more hungry. Surely we need more energy to grow our babies in these early weeks.

Having said that I haven't weighed myself at all yet. Been so bloated from ohss I've been afraid to step on the scales. DP admitted last night to being slightly freaked out by how bloated I am Hmm. It gets worse throughout the day so by bedtime I look 6 months pregnant (which I secretly love!)

val I had terrible cramps and stretching type pains in week 4 too. Scary but totally normal cos you're preggers Grin

Still going mental here about scan tomorrow. Only consolation is it's first thing so won't have to worry all day.
