I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I hate people who say "pregnancy is such a beautiful time" puke!

Tallyra · 05/04/2014 17:48

I'm glad living. The names mean a lot to us and to hell with other people!

Booboostoo · 05/04/2014 18:55

I never get to the glowing stage of pregnancy, it's a Hulk-like green aura through-out!

LucindaE · 05/04/2014 20:42

Everyone I have to go off on a trip to Liverpool, rising early, but I hope you'll all look after yourselves in Mother Hen's absence.

Have fun, lucinda :)

Morning everyone, yes it was lovely what you said about names Tally, I'm sure we'll get there, I think my inlaws did a great job in naming Dh but their taste has gone out of the window these days!

Yes I'm constantly reading and hearing about pregnancy glow. It'd be lovely if it happened to me but I'm going to accept that it isn't.those stories irritate me.

Have fun Lucinda.

Tallyra · 06/04/2014 09:11

mrsnec, I keep having people tell me I'm glowing. I don't know where they see it though. I felt yucky yesterday when I dragged myself out to the beefeater to see a couple of colleagues and they seemed to think I looked great. Maybe it is possible to feel green but still glow, I don't know.

Meerka · 06/04/2014 16:09

tallyra all ready for tomorrow? :)

Tallyra · 06/04/2014 19:31

I think so. tomorrow is coming really fast though!!

Meerka · 06/04/2014 19:50

smiling I hope it's a wonderful day for you :)

Meerka · 06/04/2014 19:50

... and that you can get some sleep tonight :)

Tallyra · 06/04/2014 19:51

yeah. that's going to be difficult!!

elizabethsmum · 06/04/2014 20:05

Hi all-

Hope you are having a better day today mrsnec? My dh was particularly thoughtless useless during my first hg preg. He was a marginally more helpful second time round (think he was just resigned to it tbh) and also I think he enjoyed all the Domino's pizzas I insisted on having when I was well! You are right living - when you do feel like eating with hg it can be an expensive business!

I also felt like puking at the constant media portrayal / glamorising of preg when I spent most of the best part of it on initimate terms with my toilet bowl!! In some ways it did the cause of hg no favours when the lovely kate Middleton seemed to be glowing with health again by 12 weeks after the initial furore over her pregnancy.

good luck for tomorrow tallyra

Waves at everyone xx

Lottiedoubtie · 06/04/2014 22:12

Checking in. Had a good day yesterday. Hell on wheels today.

Poor DH just said 'you have to go back to the doctor they can't expect you to live like this' and I just howled that they can't fix me. Sad

elizabethsmum · 06/04/2014 22:38

Hi lottie so sorry you are back to having a bad time again at the moment. Apart from anything else is is just so disheartening if you have been having some better days as well :( Are you back at work at the moment- if yes do you need to get signed off ? Am I right in thinking you are a teacher?- was thinking Easter hols coming up (mine are off now for just over 2 weeks- slightly odd holidays this year Confused

What meds are you on at the moment? Have they stopped being effective? It sounds like your DH is right and you do need to go back to your GP- are they sympathetic? It is so much better if you can get on top of the symptoms ASAP if you have any relapses with hg if you have had a 'good' period without it being so bad.

Sending hugs xx

Lottiedoubtie · 06/04/2014 22:49

Thanks for replying. I'm on metroclopromide not sure my GP would prescribe anything better, the hospital prescribed it at my 16w check. Not at work, thank god! Easter holidays and signed off to end of April ish anyway.

It's the nausea I can't cope with, and there doesn't seem to be an effective treatment for it.

mrsnec · 07/04/2014 07:39

Hi All,

Sorry to hear that Lottie that sounds awful. Good job you're signed off until the end of April. I know how you feel about the nausea.

dh is being loads better he is taking more of an interest, asking questions and talking about the future. He even told some of our friends. We weren't going to and I'm not angry at him as it just means he wants to share. 14 weeks is a long time to keep it hidden, we told everyone early last time as we felt we'd need the support of it went wrong. Anyway he cooked tea last night and I ate it as hadn't had a proper meal in ages. (other than cereal or sandwiches or something on toast) but I didn't manage to keep it down.

Well I'm certainly not glowing although I do have a new symptom this week nasty greay spotty skin, hope that doesn't last!

Back to you Lottie, is is worth going back to the docs? Says she who's still petrified of going.

Meerka · 07/04/2014 07:53

Oh dear lottie :( I hope today can be a little better.

The NICE guidelines do say you shoudl be prescribed meds so that you can live a reasonable life cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub and there are other drugs to try, so it is worth asking. can you take your husband with you to the docs as an advocate? it's nearly impossible to speak eloquently when youa re so sick :(

or even to ask to be referred to the hospital consultant? you -are- entitled to try diff drugs til you find one or a couple that help.

Take it easy and take care

tally - very best of luck!!!

mrsb87 · 07/04/2014 08:10

Morning everyone, hope everyone has had a relatively vom-free weekend? I have enjoyed being back at work this past week. My role has changed considerably since being back which is good as I don't think I could cope with completing 4 bags of delivery these days!
Bit of an iffy morning. Went to the loo and on my way back I promptly projectile vommed all over my bad, lush.

Oh lottie I'm so sorry you're still having such an awful time. It does sound like you need to go back to the doctor and get some different meds though.

Oklahoma · 07/04/2014 08:27

Morning All

Lottie I'm right there with you. Had an ok weekend so tried to do too much and am now suffering for it today.

I've been told I would have to see a consultant to get anything stronger and that I can't get an appointment for 2 weeks so I hope your area is more supportive!

12 week scan tomorrow so have that to look forward to at least.

Hope everyone else is doing ok xx

Booboostoo · 07/04/2014 08:32

Loads of vomit here this weekend though none of it mine (so far). Poor DD had a horrible vomit and diarhoea bug all weekend long and we're both shattered. I was supposed to fly to London today for the Harmony test but I had to cancel as DD is still very stressed and I was worried I'd start with the bug on the plane.

Good luck tally!

Bon courage to everyone suffering.

elizabethsmum · 07/04/2014 08:45

Oh no sorry lots of vomiting all round :( IME hg has an annoying way of letting you feel a teensy bit better and then punishing you again the minute you try and be ' normal' again for a day or two!!

Mother Hen has left me strict instructions while she is away so I will do my best to deputise in her absence ( sorry if I am useless!)

lottie the nausea is the worst as you say very difficult to treat. Metaclopromide acts on speeding up digestive transit so not really sure why that would be deemed that effective anyway- unless making you vom quicker Wink cynical expression! It was never any use for me anyway!

The GP may be right about not being able to prescribe anything stronger ( think most of my meds were prescribed by hospital tbh but not sure if that was just because I happened to be there a lot ?

Hope the bag was wipe clean/oilcloth mrsb ? Glad work going ok though

booboo so sorry you have had dad's sickness bug to deal with on top- hope she is better soon and you don't get it!! Can you rearrange flights/ harmony test?

Good luck for scan tom oklahoma

Looking forward to an announcement later from tallyra

Will check back later !!

Lottiedoubtie · 07/04/2014 10:46

Thank you so much for the support everyone, I can't tell you how nice it is to feel people understand! Late at night is the worst time for me I find. So far this morning I don't feel as bad as yesterday but still not as good as Saturday was. I went to two different shops on sat, looked at prams, asked sensible questions of sales staff and managed a cup of tea at my dads on the way home, it felt like such a victory! Then yesterday it was back to crawling up the stairs clinging on for grim death.

okla sorry to hear you're having a rough day today, have you got someone supportive at home with you?

Waves,to everyone else, hope you are all coping.

Booboostoo · 07/04/2014 10:52

elizabeth DD did her first vomit literally on top of me which was seriously off-putting! Poor DD was shaking and upset and I was trying not to reciprocate by vomiting all over her! We don't have any childcare over Easter and DP has to work so I think I may have to wait a few weeks for the Harmony test.

elizabethsmum · 07/04/2014 10:52

Dd's bug!
