I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Tallyra Exciting! The goal is near...
Meerka Time has lead wings.
lvingzuid Hugs. It's so dismal.

Azkaban That sounds tough work when not ill; if the poor guy's on benefits I wonder his uncaring parents can afford a luxury lifestyle, pinch his money or not. I'm sure they can't discriminate against you for pregnancy related illness, hope livingzuid finds hte link.
Apologies to anyone overlooked.

azkaban it's a bit in legaly speak but they are obliged to do a risk assessment for you. Don't take no for an answer. They are breaking the law by not providing for you. It's hard enough being pregnant without then having to put up with this kind of thing in the workplace. Of course you must work if you have to, but there can be things done to make it easier for you :)

and yes, I was celebrating, not so much now though! But trip to Edinburgh is booked and London also booked AND mum coming at the end of the month with all my goodies I have bought yay! Got some of it today which was able to be delivered to the Netherlands :) Feeling a bit more organised now. Ish.

Pregnancy yoga last week was really good. We went through breathing and different positions for labour and how to encourage labour and what positions and so on. Might go to another specific class on it as I think I have forgotten already Blush

Hi everyone! I need some advice from you. I'm running out of meds and last time I asked my doc for a prescription he wasn't keen then and made a point of saying I shouldn't need any more after that.
I've been trying to whittle my meds down by half to see how I get on but sinse I've been doing that the nausea is really bad in the evenings and I'm waking up in the morning and vomiting almost instantly again. Help!

Tallyra · 01/04/2014 07:50

phone the doctor and cry at them. or even better, vomit mid call. they shouldn't be refusing you meds especially if it's just an opinion you should be ok by now, that's just stupid.

PunkStar · 01/04/2014 07:50

I'm 30 weeks and still on medication.
Make him realise how important they are....they are allowing you to work, without them you would struggle and you can't afford to take time off.
Ask if there's any particulate reason why they are not happy to prescribe in second tri compared with first tri?
HG goes on much longer than NVP and he should know that. Lots of women need meds until term :-(

mrsb87 · 01/04/2014 08:04

Thats true, if I wasn't taking ondansetron I certainly wouldn't be back at work.
I'm not sure about the amateur dramatics, lol. Not much if a crier anyway!

Thanks though guys, I definitely need to keep taking them for a bit yet.

livingzuid · 01/04/2014 09:12

I'm still on mine. Week 31 here. Agree with tally just because he thinks you should not have any hg any more doesn't mean that's the reality Confused

mrsb87 · 01/04/2014 09:18

I have a phone appt with a nice lady doctor later so I'm pretty sure she will be a lot more understanding. I saw her once before and she was very good. Fingers crossed!

LucindaE · 01/04/2014 11:04

Mrsb87 I hope you got the meds, that comment about you 'shouldn't' need them is just assuming it's like ordinary ms (and even with that, someo woman with borderline bad ms/Hyperemesis suffer throughout).
Azkaban This all seems to fit in with the way so called 'care in the communiy' is provided on the cheap, which of course, has an impact on the working conditions of carers. I do hope you get that assessment.
I hope everyone isn't too bad today.

Good luck! (Shouldn't have to say something like that about getting the right medicine Angry)

mrsb87 · 01/04/2014 11:54

Phew, lovely dr parker to the rescue! She did say "it should be settling down by now" but I told her about the sickness after trying to get the dosage down and she said she would prescribe me more so thats a relief!

Lottiedoubtie · 01/04/2014 12:24

I really don't think there is any 'should' about it, HG just doesn't seem to work like that.

I'm feeling very sick and headachy today. Managed to sleep in though, which was a relief because I felt awful when I went to sleep and didnt think I was going to sleep at all.

Going to work was lovely yesterday but it does seem to have wiped me out, which is a worry!

Meerka · 01/04/2014 12:27

glad to hear it mrsb

reading these forums and the HER forums, it seems like HG settles down for most people (not quite all) but it doesn't seem to ever really fully go and gets a bit worse in the last trimester :s Really glad she listened to you.

Totesamazeballs · 01/04/2014 13:04
