I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Morning!

Pick
Really sorry you've got to go for a CVS....1:40 means 39:40 that everything will be okay! Pretty stressful for you though and I hope everything is fine, big hug.
My consultant put me on steroids too for the weight loss. It completely suppressed any vomiting on higher doses and diminished the nausea enough so that I could eat a reasonable variety of foods. I didn't feel back to normal but I could face the day which felt miraculous. I'm on the lowest dose now, vomiting had recurred but max twice a day.

Azkaban
Oh hell your HG sounds extreme :-( can't believe you are working at 16 weeks. You're on a decent variety of meds, just wondered what prednisolone dose you are on, I was still vomiting and unable to eat on 30mg pred plus ondansetron. When the pred was increased to 45mg I got relief. Consultant says he goes up to 60mg, says after 10mg the side effect profile is similar whether you're on 20mg or 60mg. Just wondered if an increase in dose would help you too?!

Living
Job sounds brilliant opportunity! Especially if OH about, I started putting little boy in nursery when he was eight months which was much harder than leaving him with OH (although he loves it, gets to do so many activities there and eats things he turns his nose up at home:-))

Funny my nausea is getting worse, the vomiting is improving again but I'd rather vomit a couple of times a day then feel fine than put up with this horrendous nausea. Did nothing all weekend as felt so terrible. At least I'm sleeping a lot which is some respite.

Lottie
Hehe I don't think I got more than three hours of consecutive sleep until the little boy was around four months old, had maybe just one night feed from six months....but the sleep deprivation is an absolute breeze compared to HG. Was kinda pleased about that after so many people saying a baby is such hard work, you don't know what you've let yourself in for etc. If you can survive HG you really can just get on with anything!!

Hope everyone else getting on okay today

PunkStar · 31/03/2014 10:16

MrsB
Snap!
Initial kitchen or hallway smell = vomit. Once the vomit complete and I return it smells normalish again. Same in cars with leather seats.

mrsb87 · 31/03/2014 10:27

Phew! I'm really glad someone else gets that, I thought I was a complete freak. At least I can tell dh it isn't just me!

Lottiedoubtie · 31/03/2014 11:26

Yes, that is the silver lining isn't it, get no sleep but not feel sick! Woo!

Don't feel too bad so far today, actually looking forward to going to see my lovely sixth form this afternoon, think I might tell them I'm pregnant, 16 weeks, isn't too early to tell pupils is it?

ziggystarducks · 31/03/2014 11:48

EurggHHH! Day 1 of the HG....sickeningly familiar feeling!

So previous HG history.

DD (age19) HG for 7months. Pretty bad but I was young and coped.
DS (age3) HG for 8months. Horrific....sick up to 30 times daily until meds kicked in and reduced it to 8x daily.
Now expecting No 3 Due date 2/12 HG has made its first appearance today :o

Putting a rapid end to my faint hopes that this pregnancy would be different. I'd better settle in for the long haul and enjoy sharing the sick bucket as gorgeous little ones make their way into the world.

LucindaE · 31/03/2014 11:58

ziggystarducks Welcome, you're very brave to go for it a third time, sorry you seem to be in for it again - are you on pre-emtpive meds? There's lot of lovely support on here.
mrsb87 and PunkstarThat's horrible, the kitchen smells thing setting off a bile run. Also, traffic fumes for me (we were living in London at the time). Punkstar great advice. Lottie Best of luck. I'm sure it's not too early.
xx

Thanks Lucinda x

I'm seeing the GP on Wednesday morning, sadly my lovely former GP had the cheek to emigrate to Australia!! Hopefully they'll get me on some meds straightaway because I NEED to keep working.
I'm also seeing a hypnotist tomorrow evening...who believes she may be able to improve my HG!? I will report back if that works......fingers crossed.
Only found out on Friday about the pregnancy, I can only be 4 weeks max.

Good Luck to all of us xxx

PunkStar · 31/03/2014 13:17

Welcome Ziggy
Ahhhhh that feeling when you know this is more than normal nausea in pregnancy. With your history I should think they would be pretty sharp about getting you on meds. I started meds at week four too, was able to work until week eight....went back very part time at 27 weeks.
I'd be really interested in how the hypnotherapy goes. I tried acupuncture in my last pregnancy but it didn't do anything :-(
However I think Lucinda had acupuncture success. I think the more ways to combat HG the better!!

Oklahoma · 31/03/2014 14:05

I have found those acupressure bands help when the nausea is quite low. On a bad day they do nothing but when I'm feeling semi human they can help me feel normal ish for a bit. Might be worth a try.

Meerka · 31/03/2014 14:31

Hi ziggy ... yea it took me 4 weeks to work out I was preg, the clue was a delightful bout of upchucking with that unique HG feeling. Actually I did used to get sick if I was exhausted (get insomnia and ME) but a visitor teased me asking me if I was preg and I thought, ahahaha .. oh wait ... that feeling of sickness was rather familiar ..... where's the testing kit ... OMFG!

Then it was scurry, scurry trying to arrange childcare for the older son cause I knew what was in store ...

I really hope you can get good and strong enough meds early. Please let us know how it goes!

waves at everyone I wonder how finch is doing with little Ethan =)

Tallyra · 31/03/2014 16:20

oh crap. I've just had a call from the hospital. they want me to have the section next Monday. I'm going to have an actual baby this time next week!

Tallyra · 31/03/2014 16:21

that looks bad. I mean I'm terrified but it's all good!

Oklahoma · 31/03/2014 16:25

PunkStar · 31/03/2014 16:38

Tallyra · 31/03/2014 16:57

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 31/03/2014 17:01

Hello
Living: no risk assessment as yet, tbh I.dont except one, didn't have one when I started and I've been there for a year. The joys of working in care, I've got to do 12hr shifts as look after a 24yr old who can't move from the neck down and his mum/dad don't really care much for him so go off on holiday/trips/meals out on (on his money)

Meerka · 31/03/2014 17:03

tbh Im envious heh. I hope it all goes really well =)

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 31/03/2014 17:08

Tally
Wow! Not long too go - good luck!

Ziggy
Can't believe your going into round 3! I admire you!

Tallyra · 31/03/2014 17:37

Meerka, no, not quite!!! I have put the stuff together but haven't yet found the bag to put it in - I had planned to make one. might still have time...

Meerka · 31/03/2014 17:52

make one? neat!

awww you must all be so exited =)

livingzuid · 31/03/2014 18:24

tally Yay! That is so exciting! Make one...

azkaban by law they have to give you a risk assessment. I will try and find the link. Is there not an hr department you could speak to?

Feeling pretty bad today. With my nausea and lack of digestive system in general I am not a happy bunny!

Meerka · 31/03/2014 18:33

its funny isnt it living ... the worst of the hell of HG is over and you think yay, week 30, last bit to go. But it drags on .. and on .... and on ....
