I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Congratulations chaffinch!!! What a gorgeous little man!

Punk that's not a holiday, that's torture! I wouldn't be going, same or separate cottage, the whole thing sounds like a nightmare. I had a really good recovery after my CS but still the thought of travelling and staying in the same house as relatives so soon sounds awful. Your DS1 may be a bit unsettled by the new arrival and may do better adjusting in his own home, in a calm environment.

LucindaE · 28/03/2014 17:20

Chaffinch How sweet! He's sleepy there,anyway... ThanksThanksWineCake. So happy your nausea has gone. Thanks for keeping us posted, and for all your support of others when suffering yourself.

Boo
I think you're right. My Da looked at me like I was mental when I mentioned the whole thing. Think we will play it by ear....want the original little boy to stay as settled a possible. Was trying to please all of the people.....

mrsb87 · 28/03/2014 18:09

punk I find dh and I end up running ourselves ragged trying to keep everyone happy. Just after a cs is not a good idea. They will just have to understand you have just had your middle torn open and your baby pulled out! Noone would expect you to do it after any other major surgery l.

Meerka · 28/03/2014 19:19

finch how lovely to see Ethan and congratulations. He's beautiful! :) I hope you're feeling okay and recovering. and YAY for not feeling sick!! Wine When can you two go home? :)

Huge congrats chaffinch he is a beaut!!

livingzuid · 29/03/2014 04:55

how is everyone at 5am today?

chaffinch he is a sweetie! Congratulations and hooray for no more HG. Enjoy :)

meerka are you recovered from electric shock! I was Shock seeing that you poor thing.

mrsnec I didn't feel movement till 20 weeks and started getting a bump around 18. If you have anything it is mainly bloating at this stage. I hope you manage to get to see someone soon, so sorry you aren't getting the support. I wondered if there were some EU guidelines you could save in font of them on HG? Sounds like you need to get to a consultant to sort out the medication.

Envy for totes, tally and meerka really not long to go now.

Oh and mrsb my mum said it was all because I ate ice cream and junk food and I needed to change my diet. Despite the fact that I can't actually stomach ice cream. I don't get why they are so unsupportive sometimes and just don't trust in what we are saying!

9 weeks and counting. The days crawl by. I am getting more and more nauseous with the odd bout of returning and the amount of foods I can eat again are restricted to chicken and rice, and I have developed a gala melon and rambutan craving. That's about it. Oh and jacket potatoes seem OK because they are mushy. Sleep is a precious commodity. I was doing quite well then the last two nights have been awoken by horrendous acid and lie in bed sucking Rennies. I hate insomnia.

Been busy though, I have two trips planned home in April to Scotland and London, one for a job interview! If I get it I will have to go very quickly back to work after the birth but dh and me think we can manage it. I just hope this horrible nausea stays away long enough for me to do everything.

Think that's about it. Finally done a lot of shopping and most of the baby's stuff has been sorted. Just a few large items to do which we are getting at the end of next month when the room is ready. There were some really great things at asda and mothercare which my mum is bringing with her. She's visiting at the end of next month. Need to prepare myself...

Totesamazeballs · 29/03/2014 06:24

Congrats Chaffinch! What a sweetie! Enjoy pigging out without side effects and get as much sleep as you can.

Been up since 2am here. DS started pulling some bad nights again. At my wits end as I don't know what is wrong with him. He is just really wide awake for no apparent reason and cannot get back to sleep. It's like asleep regression. Do they get that at two?

mrsnec · 29/03/2014 06:44

Congratulations Chaffinch!

Punk,that sounds like a nightmare!

Sorry to hear there are a lot of you still suffering, how are the new meds oak? It's really irritating that you can only get people to listen to you unless you make a fuss. I know I'd have to do that here to get my point across but I'm not at that stage yet. I had a few bad days last week but I changed my vitamins and keep changing my food and routines and yesterday I managed an entire puke free day still feel a bit nauseous though and lots of dry heaving! Anyway I wondered if certain foods were making me worse despite not having aversions to them, for example I love cheese but realised I was eating lots of it on the days when I was really bad, so I didn't eat any yesterday.could just be a fluke though. Have any of you found that?would be a shame if that's yet another food I'm off for now.The list is getting smaller.

Think you're right about bump being bloat. I did weigh myself the other day purely out of curiosity not getting obsessive, and I'm exactly the same weight I was before.

Sorry if I've missed anyone or anything. Have a great weekend!

PunkStar · 29/03/2014 09:05

Living
I started doing odd days at work from four months last time. This was fine for me but traumatic for OH hehe. I'm sure if you get the job you'll make it work out :-)
Yeah, we're in single figures now...woohoo (although I'm cheating with delivery at 39 weeks :-))My food aversions are terrible too, nausea still bad. I've not vomited now for a few days though which is progress.

MrsNec
I eat loads of cheese too but without it I don't know what I'd eat.
I'm nauseous if I eat and nauseous if I don't.

Totes
Ahhh don't know how I would manage if little boy didn't sleep all night, it's bad enough getting up at 6am with him everyday. Hope yours settles soon, hope it's just one of those strange yet short lived phases.

Oklahoma · 29/03/2014 09:08

OMG I am awake and I don't feel sick. I had terrible days yesterday and the day before and was at my wits end but have woken up today and don't (currently) feel sick. I would never have believed I could feel such joy at such a small thing before. I also haven't tried to get up yet so I imagine my day will go downhill but I just had to share!!

Hope everyone is doing ok. Living that sounds tough. Sleep is my only refuge I don't know how you cope without it!

Lucinda I also took on board what you said about acupuncture and got some of those sea sickness bands so I'm hoping they'll help.

Oklahoma · 29/03/2014 09:28

I spoke too soon. Projectile vomit 1 of the day - check.

Lottiedoubtie · 29/03/2014 09:40

Sorry to hear that okla but you had at least 20 mins of joy, that's not to be sniffed at at the moment. Hopefully those periods of time will stretch from now on too.

I've not been sick yet but also not up yet! And nausea at 7/10.

Oklahoma · 29/03/2014 09:52

Not sniffing at all. It was pure bliss. Hope you feel better x

frankiebuns · 29/03/2014 09:58

My dr has signed me off with pregnancy induced hyper tension and hypermesis I feel very poorly and hardly eating except for salad, I haven't been sick but very poorly! I love a good drink of water or milk but the taste in my mouth is awful.

mrsb87 · 29/03/2014 10:01

Oh dear okla I've had a few false starts similar. Today I thought I would venture downstairs for breakfast instead of my usual room service! ( dh has never bought me breakfast in bed before this!). I had to promptly turn and run puking up the stairs. Lovely!!

Oklahoma · 29/03/2014 10:07

Oh MrsB poor you. It sounds like we're all getting ahead of ourselves today.

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 29/03/2014 10:29

Hello all just found this thread! Can I join in too please?

I'm 16 weeks gone and so far had 4 long stays in hospital for hyperemesis, along side numerous trips to the doctors. On so many meds and not much seems to be working. Really fed up. I was off work for 3 months but had to go back even though I feel so bad, doctor still wants off though :(
On top of the hyperemesis I had viral meningitis when I was 2-3 weeks and pneumonia along side that, so been pretty rubbish. Can't wait for the sickness to stop, oh and the heartburn has kicked in too now so lots of sleepless nights.

Sorry feeling rather rotten today not managed to get too sleep for a few days now and thinking another trip to hospital is on the cards as haven't kept anything down for a day or so. :(

Lottiedoubtie · 29/03/2014 10:36

Welcome Azkaban sounds like you've been through the mill. This is a lovely group for support though, so fingers crossed this is the start of things looking up for you! Smile

Oklahoma · 29/03/2014 10:52

Hi Azkaban and welcome to the fold. Sounds like you've been having a really tough time. There's nothing we can say to help but it's always nice just knowing someone understands and getting a bit of sympathy.

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 29/03/2014 10:53

Thank you both x
