I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Poor you, don't go to work tomorrow, you clearly need rest.

mrsnec · 25/03/2014 04:39

Hi everyone,

oklahoma, glad you got on well at the docs. How are the new meds working? Sounds like you have some good people there.

Mrsb and petit sorry to hear you're not feeling well yes lots of rest.

I was the same yesterday, fine in the morning, then kept my lunch down but I was sitting in the garden in the afternoon and got a 99 from the ice cream man, hadn't had one in ages, anyway that came straight up as did everything else I ate after that, went to bed at about 7. Going to book in with the hospital on Wednesday. Also not taking my vitamins today to see if that makes a difference.

Oklahoma · 25/03/2014 08:53

MrsB you should definitely not go to work. My doc said that we shouldn't go to work unless we've had at least 2 good days in a row.

How is everyone today? I'm just trying to muster the energy to get out of bed.

LucindaE · 25/03/2014 09:09

mrsb87 I so agree with Lottie and others - you are certainly in no fit state to work. Lottie I'm glad the dr said that - and women on here find that even though they feel ok at home, the strain of commuting, 'acting normally' and the mental concentration of work etc sets them off again often, so if they go back to work too early they just end up being signed off again. It's very frustrating and I don't know how anyone works with this at all. LottieAre things still looking up?
mrsnec Oh dear, poor you too.
Chaffnich Tommorow's the day!
I must get that list of due dates up again, it was ner thebeginning of this one and we haven't added Oakla Lottie and mrsnec...
Hope Everyone's coping.
xx

I'm 28 October! Feels like such a looooong way away..,

Lucinda are you an ex sufferer then?

livingzuid · 25/03/2014 09:57

Not well here. The tired you get in final trimester is making the HG worse. I have moved onto melon as my latest 'thing'. Even my nutella on toast is not working for me any more and that has been my staple throughout pregnancy :( mushy food only in this little corner of the world. I am mixing tonic water with orange juice or apple juice, and having it ice cold is also good. And a jacket potato was good last night. But chips not good. Sigh.

mrsnec hope it goes well at hospital. I am sure it will be a relief to get it out the way :)

mrsb don't go to work!

and chaffinch I am actually clapping excitedly for you this time hehehe :) how exciting to reach the end of the road.

Busy trying to avoid having to do job interviews ha! How ironic! Will be back soon, hope everyone stays well.

Meerka · 25/03/2014 10:08

Good morning everyone

finch thinking of you too ... expect you're thoroughly exited today!

mrsb please don't push yoruself too hard

living hope you feel better. tiredness + HG really dont go well together, specially when you've been stressed out with lack of sleep & really annoying neighbours. Take it easy on yerself

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/03/2014 10:10

Holla Meerka ! had to start a thread to check veet would be ok on my old cs scar......

turns out it'll be better than a dry razor wielded by a hurrying nurse

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/03/2014 10:13

vitamin experiment sounds a good idea, MrsNec I haven't managed to take any bar folic acid ''sweet FA'' at the start.

some things in them can irritate your tummy

can't believe a Mr whippy didn't stay down! gutted.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/03/2014 10:14

can't wait for the feeling of lightness when they get this baby out! and lung space!
and no nausea!

and a baby!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/03/2014 10:16

hey living

sorry to hear nutella has lost its magic powers
obvs the baby decided it needs some other random calorie thing like monster munch...or sherbert...or murray mints... or savoury popcorn!

Oklahoma · 25/03/2014 10:24

Oh Chaffinch I'm so excited for you. You make me believe there is an end to all this!!

LucindaE · 25/03/2014 11:23

Chaffinch Hugs, best of luck for tomorrow - Thanks you've been wonderful about supporting others while suffering throughout.
Okla Yes, though that was years ago - and my experience was unusual - I went down the usual path for those days, refused all medication by gp, not taken seriously - but instead of reporting for IV at A and E when I became very dehydrated, not knowing the dangers, I tried Acupuncture, which worked so well I got a lot better after just one treatment, able to keep down liquids, after another, began to eat again..That unfortunately seems to be unusual, it helps a lot of people but not so dramatically usually. That was all long ago, but a few years ago I was outraged when I read online of how women were still treated dismissively, and I started this thread...So here Mother Hen is.
waves to livingzuid and everyone. Ah, a new date. I will get that list up, I will get that list up...

Hi All, I'm still feeling nauseas but not actually been sick today.

Just back from my 16 week appointment with the consultant. Been prescribed Metoclopramide, doctor thought the Cyclizine is probably causing my ongoing dizziness and thinks this will make me feel better overall- hope she's right! Although apparently you can take both at once if you want- not sure about that.

My due date is 12th September.

I love this thread, it is genuinely the nicest place on MN- thank you to everyone!

chaffinch tomorrow's the day? Good luck! So exciting for you!

Meerka · 25/03/2014 13:19

a lot of people take both, or a combination of those and other drugs lottie. I took both myself, though I didnt get on with meto.

Cyclizine's been used for decades and I think Meto for many years too Ondansetron, the most powerful and effective of the commonly-prescribed drugs has been used for 10-12 years.

Tallyra · 25/03/2014 13:52

Yep, you can take all sorts of mixtures. I was on meto, ondansetron, fenergan at one point this pg, and I'm also sure that until I worked out cyclizine was useless I was taking that in combination too.

Lottiedoubtie · 25/03/2014 14:25

Thanks for the advice Smile

I started this pregnancy with the attitude- avoid drugs at any cost. I realise now (bitterly!) how stupid that approach was... But I still get nervous at each new hurdle!

I heard baby's heartbeat today though, which was lovely Smile

Meerka · 25/03/2014 14:31

awwww lovely, it really is special isnt it!

PunkStar · 25/03/2014 17:52

FinchofDoom
Yay! Hope everything goes well tomorrow. Really exciting!
Don't forget to take your ranitidine!

mrsb87 · 25/03/2014 19:04

You are all going to be disappointed with me....I went towork today. I bloody enjoyed it too! We had a slow training afternoon which was good. Started to feel a bit nauseous about 5pm. I really enjoyed being back. Everyone really missed me which was lovely to hear!

Lottiedoubtie · 25/03/2014 19:08

Just glad you're ok mrs and it hasn't set you back! Hope you're having a restful evening though!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 25/03/2014 20:45
