I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.

There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos/
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!prescribinginfosub

I would like to thank Everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Good news about scans and Lottie new meds, and bad news abouthow for some reason IL's have to be protected from so much as a hint that you are constantly being sick, Petitelapin. Oh dear, these meds seem to be no use either. Can you get an emergency appointment Mother Hen says annoyingly...mrsb87 Far from sure you are up to work, the problem is people go back too early and feel awful if they don't collapse...
Did you say you're a teacher? Meerka Chaffinch and Everyone I love the humour.

doomfinch cross posted. I'm going to save it for my projectile mid-meal vomit, the one where I don't feel like eating but do just to be polite then all hell breaks loose. Not full on vomit on them, just splashback...

Feeling particularly harsh today I think. HG has turned me into some kind of villain.

mrsb87 · 21/03/2014 17:17

No lucinda I work in a shop called fat face as supervisor. Im going back for 2×4hr shifts next week just to see how I get on. At least if I try and fail I will know I'm not up to it. We will have to go through risk assessments etc when I go back.

Petit I know what you mean, considering I've had such lovely news today I'm in a fowl mood!!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 21/03/2014 18:40

MrsB I thought you were a hairdresser! Grin

Meerka · 21/03/2014 18:45

mreshend lovely to hear about the scan :) The sight of those tiny little fingers always does my heart in, become a total slushy mess.

lottie really glad to hear you're signed off another month. rest really does help, how people can keep working i really don't know!

Lottiedoubtie · 21/03/2014 18:47

Nor do I tbh! It takes me a couple of days to psych up for a shower. The thought of putting a suit on and dealing with teenagers is horrific!

LucindaE · 21/03/2014 20:47

My goodness, this thread is moving fast.
Mrsb87 I should have rememebred your comment about the smell of new clothes, sorry.

chaffinch I am a level 3 qualified hairdresser but unfortunately the salon environment never suited me. I never really fitted in! So I do it just for family and friend now.

Tallyra · 22/03/2014 07:57

Morning all. Just checking in from my bed on the fist day of my mat leave. You know when you want to lie in but then you just wake up far too early? Hah. Typical! But at least I don't feel sick, must have had all the sleep I needed tonight!
Hugs to you all feeling crap. Just keep hanging on in there. You will all get there too!!!

Booboostoo · 22/03/2014 08:01

Great news about the scans! I'm still waiting for my results which go directly to my doc, but she hasn't called me yet.

petit that just sounds grim - feel free to vomit on the DH, he sounds like he deserves it. Hope you survive the visit.

I haven't done anything worth reporting, just making it through each day. I managed to go out clothes shopping the other day (one shop, 10 minutes drive from home) but nearly hurled on the drive home (I seem to get a lot worse in cars) so I am not sure it was worth it!

mrsb87 I'm a frustrated would-be hairdresser! I would have loved it as an alternative career, but never had the opportunity to do anything about it! DP got me one of those freakish plastic heads with long hair off e-bay for my birthday once and it was great fun practicing on it.

LucindaE · 22/03/2014 09:22

Booboosto and mrsb87 It's just as well - all that standing would be awful with Hyperemesis -hairdressers always seem to get swollen legs anyway from it - not to mention the scents of hair products...I once did a quiz myself while in a hairdressers on hair care and it said about my level of hair care -'Excuse me - have you ever heard of a hairbrush?'
SliceofLimeHow did things go after that awful journey?
Peite How are things? I hope Everyone is coping?

LucindaE I am not sure my current career is so HG compatible! Yesterday I was trying to take some notes on a paper on magnificence (the Aristotelian virtue of) but couldn't get past misspelling 'magnificence'. Not a good start.

LucindaE · 22/03/2014 10:28

Boobo That sounds too intellectually challenging for a sufferer; are you a lecturer? xx
Tallyra Congratulations on beginning of ML.I suppose you are 'a fine size' , now?

Oklahoma · 22/03/2014 10:29

I can't imagine many careers are HG compatible. I work up in the city and even thinking about the commute is enough to set me off.

Had a good day yesterday. Wasn't sick and only felt nauseous for half the day. Had high hopes for the Avomine but feeling decidedly average again today.

I would say happy weekend to everyone but I don't think it quite works like that.

Got flowers delivered from MIL though so feeling less Angry about the ginger comment.

Lottiedoubtie · 22/03/2014 10:44

Looks like MIL got the hint then, that's good!

I slept for about 11 hours straight last night! Don't feel too bad this morning, not wonderful but not as bad as previous mornings. Although I did retch when I cleaned my teeth.

Going to try for a shower in a min and then my sister is popping in to see me for half an hour or so, hopefully it'll be a nice distraction!

Booboostoo · 22/03/2014 11:06

LucindaE I was but I got really fed up with what is happening with UK unis and left about 4 years ago. Then I got pregnant and have been SAHM ever since, writing a bit on the side as and when possible.

Can you imagine working in catering with HG? [shudders]

petitlapin1 · 22/03/2014 11:18

Morning all. Staying in bed today as yesterday i did 2 hours of my tidying and cleaning before in laws arrived which was 2 hours too much for such a bad day. Place was still a tip but I felt a bit better about it and they were very understanding.
Next door have decided to drill today and someone, ?dh, is hoovering loudly downstairs. But I don't care, I'm not moving until I absolutely have to!

booboos that sounds fascinating! I did a bit on philosophy and ethics for my course but wish I could have studied it further.

Lottiedoubtie · 22/03/2014 11:24

I just had my shower, and realised half way through I was enjoying it Shock I haven't enjoyed a shower in 8 weeks, I stood up for the whole thing and managed to shave both pits and legs (TMI). I'm so excited! Going to get dressed soon and at this rate I'll be downstairs before 12! Grin Grin

LucindaE · 22/03/2014 11:36

Lottie congradulations on shower.
petitelapin You shouldn't have done cleaning, however did you manage after being so ill earlier? Mother hen is shocked.
I did PPE years ago -but these days I seem to have forgotten most of it.
Booboosto and Oklhamo about careers - oh dear, horrible joke, lavatory attendant would frankly be the most suitable to be honest for this - how anyone manages to commute is beyond me, and as for looking smart for work, let alone actually being able to do any...

I HATE my neighbours. I fantasised about having a huge bazooka to fire through the ceiling at various points. Police finally made an appearance at 2am after having rung in desperation in tears about five times from 10pm which is the official noise cut off time.

'Oh we were just talking' insert bullshit expletives here and police if you had showed up even 10 minutes earlier you could have stood in my living room and waltzed along to shit Polish dance music.

Sick, shattered and want to live up a mountain in the middle of nowhere :( only criteria is internet access!

Rant over :)

I have measured up the whole flat for double glazing, tiles for the bathroom and kitchen and wallpaper for the baby's room. I have given DH an ultimatum on sorting out the flat today and really, I am at the point of just heading to the DIY store myself and doing it, HG and DIY disaster area that I am be dammed. Girl powah....

livingzuid · 22/03/2014 11:40

Ultimatum included flouncing back to my parent's house until the birth which a) would be impractical as I have blood tests and check ups every week now and b) they would probably be horrified at me moving in for two months Grin

ChaffinchOfDoom · 22/03/2014 11:41

Booboos I'm sure someone on this thread is a HG bod who is a barista! nightmarish scents of coffee bleurgh

the one good thing, I suppose about relatives staying is that they'll experience HG first hand, I remember my mum being round when I had it awfully and being completely bemused and gobsmacked by my wandering off to vomit every 10 mins - before that I don't think she understood...

livingzuid · 22/03/2014 11:45

Oh and I hoovered. But haven't achieved lottie's level of showering yet. That's a step too far!

What was quite nice about being up so late was feeling the baby wriggle around. It was like she was trying to comfort me :) which made me bawl even more hehe. Managing to squeeze in one trip to London at the end of next month and will be stocking up on the excellent Boots Muffles Wax Earplugs which I buy in bulk every time I go home.

Right, must stop rambling and try to fuddle out how to work out square metereage of each room. How I do that when it's all windows and funny angles and half measurements I have nooo idea. Do you just approximate? DH tells me it is height x length (yes I had to ask Blush).

livingzuid · 22/03/2014 11:50

Oh tally missed that you were on mat leave now how wonderful!

And chaffinch so true about people just not getting it. I think unless DH hadn't witnessed it first hand he would have been a bit Confused about the whole thing too. Fortunately he was a star and put my mum in place more than once Grin She just did not understand.

livingzuid · 22/03/2014 11:52

Sorry one more completely random thing. Did you know there was a Best of Whigfield album?! Have Spotify 90s radio on and doing the 'Saturday Night' dance from the sofa with the dog. I wonder if it's loud enough yet to bug upstairs.....that said this is like Mozart compared to what they had on last night......
