"loy" = lot!

3rdTriMossTer · 16/01/2007 12:08

Lazyemma,

I knew about morning sickness, in a vague sort of "you might throw up in the morning" sort of way. But not in a "you'll constantly feel sick and will throw up after most meals".

Also knew about constipation, but I didn't know just how awful prune juice tastes!

lazyemma · 16/01/2007 12:45

you're not wrong about the prune juice: bleurgh. I can't imagine anyone drinking that stuff out of choice. Luckily it doesn't work for me, so I've only been forced to endure one bottle.

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2007 16:18

I had no idea that the heartburn would be quite so bad, and that actually sometimes there is absolutely no cure for it at all.

dollymixtures · 16/01/2007 17:27

3rdTriMossTer, you're so right about 'morning' sickness. It sounds like it will just be ladylike nausea for an hour or so a day for a little while, that will be cured by crackers/ginger tea/lemon juice. No one tells you it will actually be violent retching all day every day (and some nights too I found) for months by which point, quite frankly, you can stick your crackers.

And spd - why does no one tell you about that? Lizzombie, Juicylucy yep it feels just like you've been given a good kicking down below. There's loads of info on here about it and there's a really good support group if you google SPD.

3rdTriMossTer · 16/01/2007 17:36

Dollymixtures I swear if one more person asked me "have you tried ginger" I was going to lamp them, really!

ammylovesbabies · 16/01/2007 19:27

baby kicking my bum/bowel region so hard I thought I was going to lose control of my rear end. TMI, I know but we are on about pregnancy here. x

Hee hee - this list is an absolute MUST for newly pregnant women!

Mine were:
Stabbing pain high up my fanjo until about 20 weeks which terrified me
Vomit vs brushing teeth debate!
Shooting pains/cramps near my kidneys that made me think I was going to have a m/c but it is something to do with kinks in your pee pipe from your kidneys to bladder (??)
Pointy tummy
Erotic dreams (Jack/Sawyer sandwich from LOST)
Orgasms in sleep (see above)
Painful baby movements late on (mine was a real wriggler)

...all soooooo worth it though

daydreambeliever · 17/01/2007 14:24

ive had on and off restless leg syndrome, and i know it can be linked to low iron levels- i swear if i have it one night i have spent the next day stuffing steaks/lambchops/chilliconcarne/anything else iron-y into my system- and then had no problems the next night. and vitamin tablets too have helped.

but what about being 14 weeks pregnant and having stupid friends poking/stroking your 'cute sticky out belly' when youre thinking- but i dont even have a bump yet, what i have is a fat tummy full of gas and constipation and a stack of brand new empire line tops so i can unfasten my jeans and sit down at night without passing out due to the pain- and youre actually stroking constipated turds. so stop asking me if its a boy or a girl or i will have to tell you the truth.

This thread is fantastic - it had both me and DP in stitches reading it last night. I think now he finally realises that I dont just make some things up for sympathy!!Thank you everyone!

My own wee list - leg cramps, heartburn, insomnia, sore boobs, SPD, insomnia, metal taste in mouth, bleeding gums, vomiting while cleaning teeth, insomnia, inability to turn in bed without waking up to do so, then spending next hour trying to get back to sleep - by that time its time to turn over again cos the hips get sore, did i mention insomnia? Complete lack of libido (happened to me in both pg's though some people get other extreme), hypersensitive sense of smell, constant need to wear panty liners to catch the never ending discharge, crossing your legs to sneeze/cough - even though your not supposed to cross your legs due to v veins! everyone providing their opinions on the sex of your baby because of the shape/position of your bump. No one telling you that when you actually get off the bed after delivering your LO that you will drop a mass amount of blood, then how much it will actually sting when you go for your first pee. Then wondering why you spend 45 mins in the bath - mayb cos your terrified to move incase theres anything else they forgot to tell you - and the fact that you'r half asleep!

Enough said- I really am ranting. All said once Lo arrives all is forgotten and they are more than worth every second of pain and discomfort, hence my second LD is due in just under 4 weeks.

sazzybee · 20/01/2007 17:32

That your bump gets so big/low towards the end that you have to open your legs when you lean forward. And that your pelvis gets wider so sitting with your legs open like a bloke is more comfortable than together in a ladylike way.

That you tell yourself you're never going to waddle and then you find yourself doing it one day

canadianmum · 21/01/2007 11:47

The bad, terrible itching on tummy and erotic dreams about Simon Cowell - so scary!

The good, erotic dreams about George Clooney and matthew Mcconaghey (sp?) - I am looking forward to these ones again....

lillaura · 21/01/2007 12:53

margo1974 · 21/01/2007 13:51

Leahsmum...

inability to turn in bed without waking up to do so, then spending next hour trying to get back to sleep - by that time its time to turn over again cos the hips get sore, did i mention insomnia?

How had anyone not mentioned this before.

Also how about the fact that when you were awake for umpteenth time in the night and you DH/DP is snoring beside you, you feel the overwhelming urge to put a pillow over his head. Actually I still get that urge when I am up feeding the baby at 3 in the morning.

Bobalina · 21/01/2007 13:57

I started to snore like a train during pregnancy.

Also was horrified after giving birth at the downpour that came out of me when I first attempted to walk to the shower!

lillaura · 21/01/2007 13:58

or wen they say they were up allllll nite too with new baby - funny how they were snoring everytime you woke up.... incredible urge just to hurt em

lillaura · 21/01/2007 13:58
