...well I think so anyway but I would say that as I need some responses!

We're having a boy and would like some suggestions for names but we're quite fussy in so far as we don't like modern names and would prefer more old fashioned/trad names that aren't used very much IYKWIM. In our immediate family the names we already have are:

Miles
Theodore
Kit
Henry
Dylan
Frank (Francis)
Oscar
Leo

Anyone?
The only one we can think of are Felix and Caspar but they don't make me go "yes! That's it"

Norah · 14/08/2006 13:50

Sebastian or Toby ?

jabberwocky · 14/08/2006 13:50

We're thinking of using Kiernan for this one.

Norah · 14/08/2006 13:50

Barnaby or Edward ?

Iklboo · 14/08/2006 13:51

Jeremy/Jeremiah
Alexander
Simeon
Charles
Matthias

(love Kit by the way)

Familytree · 14/08/2006 13:52

Edward, oh that's nice yes(I do remember liking that years ago) but may clash with Theodore.

Kiernan is very cool but a bit too cool for dh definitely.

No - Ed and Ted - complementary rather than clashing !

Familytree · 14/08/2006 13:53

Not with Ted's selective deafness. Trust me!

OP posts:
Norah · 14/08/2006 13:55

Make Edward and Eddie then ! or stick to Edward !!

Love Edward - my nephew is Edward and I love that name !

tallmummy · 14/08/2006 13:56

I love Edward! Or Ed as he is known 'round here.

SaintGeorge · 14/08/2006 13:57

Ted often used to abbreviate Edward as well though so could get confusing.

I like 'older' names too and (including middle names) we have the following:

Antony
Edward
Alexander
Peter
George

Familytree · 14/08/2006 14:01

George is lovely actually, I wonder if dh would like it. Husbands, they do complicate matters don't they?

OP posts:
Iklboo · 14/08/2006 14:03

BIL is called George. He's a twunt

SaintGeorge · 14/08/2006 14:06

Greensleeves · 14/08/2006 14:11

Frederick
George
Christopher
James
Timothy
Vincent
Victor
Alfred
Crispin
William

Harold
Jeremy

MeAndMyBoy · 14/08/2006 14:13

Samuel

Love Oscar though

YellowFeathers · 14/08/2006 14:15

We've picked Ellis Niall for this baby (well not sure about the Niall, need to get dh on board!)

I like
Sterling, Reuben, Lars

Greensleeves · 14/08/2006 14:17

DH and I have just admitted to one another that if we ever have a little girl we are going to call her Rainbow

Howard
Malcolm
Adrian
Philip
Kenneth
Gerald

Fimbo · 14/08/2006 14:18

Adam (my ds!)

Familytree · 14/08/2006 14:19

These are brilliant it's so funny that browsing through baby books and I just don't seem to find any and then I read a few posts on here and love so many (can't say the same for dh though!)

I love Victor but don't have the guts to use it, it reminds me of my first - I really wanted Hugo for his name and dh put his foot down although now he thinks it would have quite suited him in a qurky kind of way and he's quite robust but I imagine what it would have been like if he's been a bit wimpy.

I like Philip too. Will keep thinking

(I LOVE) name threads, I have even been tempted to have more children just because it gives me an excuse to think up names )

Familytree · 14/08/2006 14:32

Greeny!

Get some cats instead, far less painful!
