For pregnant berries at any stage. Scary thought but this is the one where some babies will appear!

I didn't even know I possessed anything called a rectus sheath Grin however if we're talking about the fact that when I sit up my stomach goes triangular and sticks up down the middle then yes I'm with you. a good excuse to continue seeing the chiro after birth

Tallyra · 15/03/2014 16:29

I've noticed that about the bath. it's hard work sitting up again too!!!

sil has just tried to talk me out of a home birth and now dh is wanting me to think hard about it. I can understand why, because she had a very scary time, long labour then cord around neck right at the end and emergency section within minutes of discovery or it could have been disastrous. now I don't know what I think or what i feel. Sad

Thunderpantsarego · 15/03/2014 16:30

Has she dropped back down again merk?

I looked at my app this morning - I can't believe it says '5 days til due date'
I'm so used to it saying something like 16 weeks. Weird.

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/03/2014 16:50

Tally I did a lot of reading on this. The most interesting fact I found out was that in an emergency situation most homebirth ers are in theatre in less than 45 mins whereas it takes longer than that on average for hospital birthers to get into theatre. People seem to think the theatre is full of ready scrubbed and dressed staff at all times just in case something goes wrong for somebody giving birth but in reality you and the staff have to get ready, which takes time, and will happen during transfer if needed.
Added to the fact you will get experienced one on one care at home so issues are going to be spotted sooner, AND that you are much less likely to need intervention, then all the scaremongers should leave you alone. I know you know all this, but its easy to forget when people start giving you crap stories
Oh and I think a v high % of babies have the cord round their neck, generally it's not a reason for panic as they're not breathing through it or needing to breathe until after they're born and it is unwrapped. Think its only an issue if the cord is short and/or stopping circulation (which would be indicated by fetal distress signs anyway)

Greetings my little (and not so little Wink) berries!

Having a good Saturday?

Lol at rediscovering sex for fun being like discovering oil kitty

Sorry for the stretch mark merk I am dreading that!

I still don't know whether to try bio oil or one of the many many lotions I already have?!?

Rectus sheath?!?!? That sounds scary!

Wow thunder 5 days till due date, has it sunk in yet that you're having a baby?
5 days till my 12 weeks, so not far behind lol.

Been going through a load of paperwork today, sorted out my FC/IVF and moved my maternity notes out of the hideous bounty pack the mw gave me. Did anybody actually collect the bounty packs or anything similar?

Angelina77 · 15/03/2014 18:31

Wow, 5 days to go?? I'll have to check in more regularly from now on. 26 weeks here now. Good news - having fun watching my tummy being kicked. Bad news - increasingly bad piles :(

Brodicea · 15/03/2014 18:36

Hello all, not a bad Saturday here: had our second NCT class which was actually quite useful, although DH and I had the giggles during the very cheesy American breastfeeding DVD because of the way the woman said 'breasts' - very mature! Not sure anyone will want to be my friend now Smile

My sister in law recommended (and kindly bought me) Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil - she reckons this is the reason she didn't get stretch marks. The real reason, I think, is because she had baby at 32 weeks - a lot of people don't get them until very late on. I think I am bound to get them, no matter what I smear on as I am very celtic in colouring - the paler, the more likely or so I've heard.

Excited for thunder - ooo!

Sex has been rare here too - I had a really sore burger for a bit. Things are a bit more normal, but I feel to chubby to feel sexy. Poor DH.

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/03/2014 18:50

Sympathy for the piles and sore burger. I seem to have somehow avoided piles so far but no doubt will retract that after labour! Although am still hoping to breathe the baby out in a pool so we will see if that works Wink

Talking of giggles I am having to threaten to demote my husband from birth partner as he sniggers at inappropriate times. Memorably when the sonographer mentioned about baby girls having a swollen clitoris at a certain stage (I think the unexpectedness of the comment caught him off guard) and he is particularly amused by any references to a ripened cervix. Not sure how well he will cope in the labour room without regressing to a mental age of 8 Grin

CatsCantFlyFast · 15/03/2014 19:00

Weirdly Brod my beauty salon was pretty scathing about anything working for stretch marks (as evidently the creams/oils don't penetrate to the layer of skin where they form) except for Elemis oils. And the salon don't even sell Elemis! They use a different base oil evidently, and even if they don't prevent in full they said they def help with minimising them and helping them fade. I have an unopened bottle upstairs which is suppose I should crack open

Foodylicious · 15/03/2014 19:16

Hi angelina good to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
26 weeks here too (well 27 tomorrow if I am being pickySmile)
Hope all is going well apart from the piles, that does not sound fun). I too am enjoying the rippling tummy Grin

Had a very lazy day here. Up at 8am for some toast and back to bed for TV. Asleep again about 10 and stayed in bed dozing until 2.30!
Still in my pjs and not feeling really tired but have no energy to anything but sit either. OH is working and wont be back till 10.30 so eve to myself and will see him in the pub tomorrow afternoon after he finishes work.
Last chance to see one of our friends before she moves to Australia next month Sad

Brodicea · 15/03/2014 19:20

tee hee merk with the schoolboy laughing Smile let's hope it eases some tension in the birthing room (rather than invoking homicidal anger!).

Good to know about the elemis - it's worth a shot but I am prepared to get them (sigh)

foody you scared me then, I thought at first read you were moving to Australia! I hope you have a nice lazy evening.

BlearyeyedLol · 15/03/2014 20:52

Mmmm thunder so you're 39+2??? I had L at 39+4GrinGrin
Just sayin....

BlindKitty · 15/03/2014 21:03

boom tbf I think my boobs are moving southward as well. Confused damn it, they looked great at first when they first started filling out!

tally it's totally your decision at the end of the day. I toyed with the idea but decided on the birthing centre i told you all about which seemed to be a compromise

angel hey stranger! Get some fibre and plenty of water down you and try not to strain!

foody sounds like you needed a good rest

So my friend who I've only seen once in the last 10 years came over today with we toddler. I'm exhausted! Really need to get my ass in gear for this whole parenthood thing

You know it dawned on me today that at some point soon all the senior berries with have popped and I'll be left as the most senior with no one to ask any stupid questions. Can the junior berries please ask all their questions now so I don't have to answer anything? Confused

Thunderpantsarego · 15/03/2014 22:23

kitty where are we going to go?!

Ha! lol HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

BlindKitty · 15/03/2014 22:54

thunder phew! I still don't even know what all that moxibustion (or whatever it was) was!

Oh and for those berries going to fb I would give serious consideration as to when you want to stop. My friend's child is almost 3 and she can't stop! At one point he was inconsolable and just kept pulling her jumper up until she gave in! It's just 1 feed a day but I was hoping I'd have a second one to feed by then!

Bunnygirlie · 15/03/2014 23:04

Gosh you confused me kitty serious consideration before you stop Facebook?!?!? Lol

I am assuming that's breast feeding, anything over 12 months I find a bit grim!

And no berries are allowed to leave Grin

Thunderpantsarego · 16/03/2014 05:29

I want brownies. Anyone got any?

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/03/2014 05:53

I have popcorn. (I may have eaten an entire bag along last night but I have another)
Don't want to gloat but a straight 5 hours sleep last night with no loo trips. Am up now to watch the f1 so will send sleep vibes to everyone who is tossing and turning

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 16/03/2014 06:46

Morning all. Been up and walked the mutts, now drinking decaf and gobbling mango and yoghurt. Ears hurt from the wind whistling through them, need earmuffs!

Had a lovely dream last night where the first twin turned and I got a normal delivery. Sadly this morning i'm 99% sure there's still a head butting me under the ribs so probably shouldn't take up clairvoyance just yet..

Sister's bday card arrived yesterday and just opened it, she's clubbed together with big bro and got me a preggo pamper day, massage, facials, swim, manicure and pedicure. Only thing missing is the pre-delivery bikini wax! Can't wait to go and get myself tarted up if I have to get sliced and diced at least I'll look good doing it

Enjoying the F1 merk? I would have needed a lot more than 5 hours sleep to stay awake watching it Grin but then I did do a rugby marathon yesterday with Mr Boom admittedly snoozed through most of that too

kitty will have a serious think about giving up Facebook before they start school, how's that? Wink

thunder brownie cravings eh? Well known precursor of going into labour...(I'm making this up)

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/03/2014 06:58

Boom good luck with the bikini wax, most painful thing I've ever done Grin

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 16/03/2014 07:05

Really merk? Tempted to just keep using Mr Boom's beard trimmer doing it myself then. Can't really see what's what even with a mirror but have managed to stay acceptably tidy (I think). If it hurts anywhere near as much as getting your top lip threaded then it's not for me!

CatsCantFlyFast · 16/03/2014 07:12

I have been getting waxed a loooong time and this time (while pregnant) was horrific. I nearly stopped her half way it was so bad

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 16/03/2014 07:21

Ps tally I meant to respond up thread - if homebirth is what you want then I would absolutely go for it, have mentioned before it would have been my choice if I had any bloody choices open to me because it reduces the chance of unnecessary intervention and because labour usually progresses better at home. merk is totally right about transfer times - there is usually a queue for theatre, it's very very rarely an immediate transfer so blue-lighting in might be just as quick depending where you are. Plus all homebirth midwives are trained in neonatal resus and carry the kit with them for this. Just my 2ps worth! Xxx

BlindKitty · 16/03/2014 08:03

bunny yes bf! I'm sure I'm dyslexic!

boom now I'm sad I don't have any mango or yogurt! Lol @ giving up fb! Well jeal of the pamper package but think I'd give the wax a miss and just use the old razor. Quite impressed that I don't even need to see the goods to perform good topiary (years of showering without contact lenses)

tally just to add to boom's comments, you also get 2 mws (same as birthing centre where I'm hoping to go to) so extra care anyway

Tallyra · 16/03/2014 08:34

thanks guys. I'll show dh your wonderful comments. as we are so close to the hospital I feel a bit more reassured now. xxxx

dh got up this morning at 5 to go shooting in the woods so I woke up for the loo, checked fb, snuggled the dog and went back to sleep until half an hour ago when he got home. lovely!

it's such a gorgeous day here!
