For pregnant berries at any stage. Scary thought but this is the one where some babies will appear!

I'm here I'm here

CatsCantFlyFast · 22/03/2014 19:03

Any signs Thunder? How are you feeling (better I hope)? When's the midwife?

OP posts:
Thunderpantsarego · 22/03/2014 19:07

I'm feeling lousy but I'm ok. Midwife on Monday

Tallyra · 22/03/2014 20:08

aren't you all talkative today!
Sid good luck tonight. It's horrible feeling so sick with guests around. I pretty much kept everyone away until about 14 weeks or more.

We have cleared the nursery!! Now for filling all the holes and decorating. I still have to find homes for SO much stuff, but its no longer in that room. Meek, was it you with the pretty decal tree? I think we're going to copy your idea, it's really pretty!

jessplussomeonenew · 22/03/2014 20:28

Boom, I'm no plumber but I had to stop a leak in the middle of the night. Basically you need to get as much water as possible out of the tank and then stop it filling up again.

Can you see any pipes around your loo? If so, look out for short little metal connecting bits on the pipes - two nuts with what looks like a screw head in the middle. Try to work out which one is on the inlet pipe (it helps if you take the top off and flush the loo so you can see where the water is coming out) and use a largish screwdriver to turn it from parallel to the pipe to a 90% angle. That should stop the tank filling up and thus reduce your leak until your plumber can see to it.

If there aren't any visible pipes, an easier but much bodgier solution is to lift the top off the loo, flush the loo and tie the ball cock into a horizontal position until there is no water flowing in. Flush it again to get as much of the water out as possible - again this should at least reduce the leak.

Good luck

Bunnygirlie · 22/03/2014 21:45

puppy 30 weeks wow!!!

boom glad you had a good holibob but boo to the crappy plumbing.

I'm watching an old OBEM and Crikey there are some strange noises on it!! merk did you sound like you were possessed?!? Wink

After yesterday's excitement I've felt crap today. Spent the day watching tv and eating (lots) and feeling lazy and headachey Sad

CatsCantFlyFast · 22/03/2014 23:23

Bunny the strange noises help (and are mostly involuntary). But mooing etc relax your throat which simultaneously relaxes your pelvic floor which helps the contractions do their job.
We've just spent 3 hours at the hospital. Got a call saying they were concerned about rhesus disease after the bloods done yesterday showed antibodies (prob due to my previous early miscarriages). Looked like we were going to be admitted at one point but we've persuaded them into letting us go back in the morn for more bloods after the initial results look ok (below the levels needed for treatment). Phew

CatsCantFlyFast · 22/03/2014 23:24

But mini Merk did have to have a cannula which was bloody awful

OP posts:
Tallyra · 22/03/2014 23:33

Oh poor little thing!!! How indignities for her first few days. Fingers crossed for you that it's all ok, it must be worrying you sick!

MotherOfCleo · 22/03/2014 23:58

Glad you are home safe and sound merk!! An glad you are enjoying it, they are the best time wasters, you can just watch them and talk absolute crap to them for hours. H is desperately trying to roll so I have spent wasted a few hours just sat on the floor watching him try to work it out, so cute. Grin Grin

Hope all is ok at the hosp tomorrow and you get some sleep tonight!

boom hope the sloshing around worked wonders and babies are now and stay perfectly positioned! Hope boomdog feels better soon too!! Had a vomity cat here yesterday.....not fun!!! Sad

Hope everyone with ms feels better! Sorry to anyone I missed Confused

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/03/2014 00:47

Thanks everyone. Two things that have been great...a contraction timer app and an app to record breast feeds/nappies. Obv you could use pen and paper but the former was easier in the heat of the moment and the latter makes it easy to get every feed (and which breast) etc

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 23/03/2014 08:25

Jess thanks for the advice! I've tied the ballcock up for now, cannot for the life of me work out where the leak is coming from but it's still dripping (not as badly though) so there's a saucepan under the toilet for now Grin

Thunder sorry you're still feeling crap. Could you get yourself a head massage or something? When I got my hair cut the 5 min massage I got made me feel AMAZING even though I was properly cranky, headachey and sorry for myself when I went in.

Merk sorry to hear you got called back in but glad you didn't need to stay. Poor Minimerk having to be stuck with a cannula though Sad. Hope bloods are all clear today.

What are those apps called? Obvs the contraction one is unlikely to be useful for me but the feeding one may still (hopefully) apply!

Tally hurrah for cleared nursery! We'll need pics when it's done please Grin

Hi mother thanks for the positive baby-turning vibes! More sloshing yesterday, going for another moxibustion session tomorrow and will probably go to aquanatal tomorrow night, then that's me done trying to turn them - scan on Wednesday at which I'm fairly sure they'll tell me they're still upsidedown and give me a section date. Oh well. Trying to think positive until then...!

36weeks today. Dreading them saying they'll want to section at 37wks, I'm not ready to not be pregnant yet and I think the babyboomers have got more growing/fattening to do...Spent last night looking at evidence relating to best time to deliver twins and the overall conclusion is that they don't know, and haven't done research separately on DCDA and MCDA/MCMA twins. I'm not sure what my sticking point will be but I don't think I really want them out before 39wks if nothing happens naturally in the meantime..am I being ridiculous? This is WHY I needed to speak to the consultant before now!!

BlindKitty · 23/03/2014 08:32

boom just asked Dh about toilet and he pretty much said what jess said

sid the 1st 12 weeks are definitely stressful but I promise it will get better

Merk hoping mini merk is ok and glad they've let you stay at home until tomorrow. What were the names of the apps?

So could NOT get comfy at all last night. Do much for the dream genii pillow. Made f£&@ all difference but the cat enjoyed sleeping in the curvature of it!

BlindKitty · 23/03/2014 08:39

boom yes, shame you've not seen the consultant at all. Perhaps you could call though (insist on the consultant calling you back and not the reg)

Boomgoestheweasel · 23/03/2014 08:49

Well hopefully I'll see her on Weds Kitty since it's technically my last appointment before delivery. If she can't be arsed to turn up to her own clinic again I will request a consultation outside of clinic times because I'm sure as hell not deciding on a birth plan with a reg I don't even like! Such a shame, apparently she's a really lovely doctor and I'm sure if I'd seen her sooner I'd feel better about this whole section thing now maybe Hmm

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/03/2014 09:04

Apps are labour mate and baby feed. The first one I don't think which app you get matters, but have DH have it as I only had it on my phone. The second one is brill, a real recommendation.
We've been back for a heel prick this morn (E screamed so loudly, poor thing) and all still ok. Back again mon or tue
Boom, what's the worst that could happen if you push for a later section? I assume that spontaneous labour starts and they would have to do an emergency section, but are there other risks involved with that? It would seem to make sense to go as late as possible to me
Meant to say, I took photos of all of my labour notes (asked to see them) and they're quite amusing. Multiple comments about me being distressed!
Hope those of you who are uncomfy/feeling crap have a better day today. I am not missing being pregnant even if I still look it

OP posts:
Boomgoestheweasel · 23/03/2014 09:39

merk poor thing, I know heel pricks aren't the worst things in the world but they do make the poor babies scream! Sure she'll get lots of cuddles to make up for it Grin

Good idea taking photos, I'm surprised they let you see them to be honest (some hospitals including mine are really funny about it). General recommendation to all is to photocopy your antenatal notes as well as they take them away after delivery and give you a new set.. Love how shouty you must have been to get all those 'distressed' comments Grin

Risks are having emergency rather than elective section: not a massive issue in the grand scheme of things but sure the docs won't like it as it would screw up their golfing schedule or something Grin. The other issue is that what (little) research there is suggests that placentas in twin pregnancy stop supplying oxygen so efficiently earlier than in a single pregnancy, hence the recommendation to deliver early. Personally I suspect most of the risk is for MCMA/DA twins who share a placenta - mine have one each and I see no reason why they would stop functioning any earlier than a singleton placenta as long as I'm healthy, BP ok and not anaemic etc. However there is NO research to back this up or disprove it - everything there is so far just says 'more research is needed'. Useful.

What I suspect will happen is that they'll want to section at 37wks. I'll say no and would be willing to compromise at 39 grudgingly, they'll eventually have to say yes and in the interim will want to scan/monitor the blood flow through the umbilical cords and placenta on a regular basis. Which is fine by me. I suspect I won't go into labour early if twin 1 isn't in the right place, at the moment there is nothing at all in my pelvis so no trigger for labour.

BlindKitty · 23/03/2014 09:39

boom I'd call in advance to say that, just in case

merk so you've decided on 'e' then? Lovely name. Just how distressed were you? Obem style? Freaking out a tiny bit now as just imagined you having everything under control!

Bunnygirlie · 23/03/2014 09:48

Oh merk sorry to hear you had to go back in, glad everything seems better today!
Thanks for the noise advice.

boom hoping you get to keep the twins in for a few more weeks yet!

Woke up with bad back this morning, probably because I lazed on the sofa all day yesterday. Need to go for a walk today me thinks. If the weather is less crazy, yesterday we had bright sunshine, rain and hail!!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 23/03/2014 19:55

Quiet in here today, everybody ok?

OP posts:
Foodylicious · 23/03/2014 20:05

Was thinking the same?!?

How's you and little merklet?

Lazy weekend here again, made it round the supermarket this afternoon, but thats been about it. Oh and had rubbish trapped wind giving me back ache Sad

Babylicious has been very vigorous vicious today, maybe just noticing it more being sat still for so long at a time.

28 week appt tomorrow, time to get measured & bloods. fun, fun, fun.

Tallyra · 23/03/2014 20:18

All good here thanks merk. quiet day here, dh washed the car and the bike, I went food shopping. baby did feel very low and strange at the end of the shopping trip, so I'm wondering if she's getting ready to engage. However, she has been stupidly active tonight so I don't think she's stayed there. now having a lovely hot bath, but will need to be rescued by dh as I can't actually get up from it any more!

Tallyra · 23/03/2014 21:15

now stranded in the bath while waiting for dh to finish his quest on the console game.

Thunderpantsarego · 23/03/2014 21:21

Hi all, tally what's up?! Have you got a very deep bath? Sounds like you should top it up and chill out a bit longer!

merk sorry about having to go back in. Didn't realise the rhesus hobby could be an issue before a blood supply is established? That's a bit scary. Glad all ok tho.

boom nightmare about the leaks- not what you need after a chill out! Hope it goes well with the chat re the twins' arrivals.

foody do you not enjoy your appointments? Or perhaps it's the bloods? They're not too bad, hope it's over with quickly.

Tallyra · 23/03/2014 21:42

Hiya. Yes, it's quite a deep bath with no handle and trying to do a sit-up results in an achey tummy. He came up after I shouted a second time though. He'd forgotten I'd asked him to help, too busy assassinating people in old Havana Smile
