Tea your mw sounds like a little ray of sunshine!
I do find it so annoying when you get ones who only seem to want to work 9 - 5, what did they expect with midwifery?!
JBrd offering a hand to hold xxx. As others have said, of course it's worrying but try not to despair too much as yet, I have a friend who had a 1:4 result from bloods (nuchal measurement was 6 point something, age risk was 1:40, sorry, struggling to remember exact figures). She looked at it the way Mabel described, that there was a 75% chance that everything was fine, and with any other test, if a 75% chance of all being well doesn't sound anywhere near as bad. Her consultant really pushed for her to terminate, as she had other Downs markers too when they scanned at 20 weeks.
She refused, and she now has a very healthy 6 year old girl who is absolutely fine, no health issues at all. Hang in there xxx
wig really glad to hear your scan went well, fantastic news!
nerdy glad to hear your little one has perked up now, they really like to worry us don't they?! I have an anterior placenta too, and I've been in for reduced movements five times in the last three weeks!
Hamster that's brilliant news about your scan, great news about measuring ahead too - any thing to make the time go more quickly is a bonus!
Ruggle great news about your scan! Did you find out whether you're having a boy or a girl, or are you not finding out? I'm really sorry to hear about your losses, pregnancy can be very harsh and cruel
. I also fell pregnant very quickly after our last loss, and touch wood, so far so good (nearly 31 weeks now).
Sorry to hear the dreaded hyperemesis got you too, I had it badly until 26 weeks and was in and out of hospital, but then it disappeared (hooray!!!
) and it hasn't come back, not wanting to talk anything up though, but it might go away yet.
Alb and Squiz people's comments drive me absolutely round the bend!
I don't know why people feel the need to comment and stick their oar in, but it's really frustrating.
It's the smug comments that get me the most, along the lines of "Ohhhhhh...you haven't felt movement yet...? With little Chlamydia I felt movement from (insert unrealistic timetable here), perhaps you ought to have a little chat with your midwife, just to check everything's ok...?"
I got so fed up with it that I used to just say "yes, our consultant said that those with slack, baggy muscles feel movement sooner". It was a bit awful of me (I'm not known for having a long fuse, and pregnancy seems to have shortened it further
), but when you know someone is doing is as a stealth boast under the pretense of caring, it just infuriates me. I should add that I don't really think the slack muscles thing, it just used to shut them up rapidly, and besides, I felt movement very early this time, so that must make me the queen of slack by my own reckoning
. I do actually have pretty good muscles
.
Mabel I'll be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed that you have a fantastic scan x.
Not much news from me today, SPD seems to be getting worse which is very annoying, but that's about it. I bought some wooden toys online for our little bean too, so can't wait for those to arrive!
.
Hope all is well with everyone else, as always, sorry if I've missed anyone x
