Week 15 and still no bump. :( Just feel like something's wrong. :(

Everyone seems to get one week 11-14. I only just (I think) felt my uterus last night. I'm terrified I'm carrying a MMC.

People in RL have asked how far along I am then looked shocked as no bump. :( :( :(

OP posts:
kjh5 · 25/03/2014 08:53

Squiz my bump didn't make an appearance until almost 18 weeks and then it suddenly popped out overnight - I wouldn't worry about it at all. Everyone is different, a friend of mine barely showed until she was 7 months pregnant and then her bump was so tiny no one could believe she was nearing term. Her bubba was a good size - just tucked very neatly into her pelvis which is why she didn't look big - if you compared her to me at the same stage, I look like I'm carrying twis. Also people in RL seem to think that women look about 6months preggo from the word go and don't seem to realise that there is nothing much there for quite a while to begin with!

Pgchimp I have really enjoyed my NCT classes! Last one this Sat and not only have I met great people but both DH and I feel we've benefitted hugely from the information and discussions. I felt fairly well informed before I went but have still learned a lot!

HopefulHamster · 25/03/2014 09:14

Squiz I am a great one for worrying so not the best for advice, but with my son I didn't get a bump until about 20 weeks. One of my colleagues barely looked pregnant at 6 months - it was just the way the baby had fitted inside her (tall torso I think!).

squizita · 25/03/2014 09:17

Kjh5 Thanks. :) Actually i am legendary for having "my mum's hips" (on a foot shorter body) and she tucked away twins and 'only needed maternity clothes from 20 weeks'. She thinks it's just how we're Although I can't feel very well by prodding, I can feel something growing down there gradually moving my muscles (and possible poop!) etc', so something is happening!

squiz Do NOT worry Everyone is different, and bumps are, too! Your bean is less than an avocado at the moment (apparently), so where would a bump come from?! Epsecially if it's your first, then you have lots of firm muscles that are holding everything in place. Don't worry and enjoy the fact that you don't need mat clothes yet, because believe me, you will be sick at the sight of them at the end! And the realise that you will still have to wear them after giving birth Grin

PGchimp Glad that you have nice people in your NCT class! I loved mine, and two of the couples we met there are now some of our best friends. The support you get from that is invaluable.

I have my 12-week scan later today, and I feel the very strong need to look up nuchal measurements... But at least DH will be there today, first time, and I have had 3 scans already! I really hope that he will start to become a bit more emotionally 'involved' now...Confused

LondonJen · 25/03/2014 10:55

Thanks Baking and Pg I feel like I know so little about my own body! Sorry Squiz, please don't worry, sounds like I am odd one out and like others have said I would expect it later. Also what I have really isn't obvious at all and no way could anyone tell in clothes. In fact DP could only just see what I was talking about at a certain angle. Great that you managed to feel uterus for the first time. All my books only mention showing after 16 weeks earliest. I'm sorry if I have stressed you out.

Good to know about nct classes. Pg that must be fascinating to be in a room full of women at the same stage and compare bumps! I would be staring at everyone!

Jbrd wonderful that DH going with you to scan today. I can't wait to share that moment with dp myself and I hope it's really special for you both.

ChristineDaae · 25/03/2014 11:13

Morning all, just checking in to see how you're all doing? So lovely to see the list moving along nicely Grincongrats On the thread babies!
I seem to have forgot to update my baby stats so here they are:
Baby girl Sawyer born 6th Feb 9lb11.5oz x

wigwam33 · 25/03/2014 11:18

Hi all
Sorry for silence, have been super busy with work.
I'm still here, still first trimester too like many of you. I'm 11+3 and have my first scan booked in for tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. I only had my booking in appointment at the end of last week but was blessed with a gorgeous midwife who pulled out all the stops when I told her I'd had 3MCs and got me a scan this week. I'm pleased and also totally terrified.
Trying to be positive and glad DH is able to come along.

JBird hope your scan goes well today

Alb1 · 25/03/2014 11:20

Jbrd good luck with the scan today, glad ur DH can make it for this one.

Having major wobble today, had stomach pain all through the night that kept waking me up, it's not like period pain an I have no back ache, stomach doesn't feel like it's contracting or anythin so I dunno what it is. Everything jus feels very tender aswell. I have ibs so it cud be that technically but I havnt eaten any of my trigger foods an havnt done anythin differently or been bothered by it for 6 weeks now so I can't see why it'd be that. Today is a bad day Confused

squizita · 25/03/2014 11:44

Christine Grin Big healthy girl!

OP posts:
bakingtins · 25/03/2014 12:07

jbrd and wigwam good luck for scans.

squiz please don't worry. People are nuts and have no idea what is normal, I've had people tell me in pretty much the same breath that my bump is getting huge and that I don't really look pregnant yet. They are just making conversation.

alb hope your belly settles and that tomorrow is a better day. Doesn't sound like anything to be worried about other than pregnancy hormones messing with your digestion.

Saw the MW today and she confirmed that baby is now head down, she was transverse at 28 weeks scan which made me a bit Hmm but as I thought after a day where I couldn't walk with a head wedged against my my hip she has turned round.
Bit cross that I had blood taken at last appointment 6 weeks ago and when I phoned was told they were 'fine' but in fact my iron is right at the bottom of the range and now I need supplements Angry if they'd said at the time I could have been much less tired for the last 6 weeks.

TeaAndANatter · 25/03/2014 13:10

Gas and air arriving tomorrow, birth pool also arriving tomorrow. Midwife gone after doing my 'you'll obviously die and so will your baby' talk aka, the home birth booking session. Three weeks max. Or at least, it'd better be three weeks max.

Didn't feel like this one would get this far when I was in first trimester.

NerdyBird · 25/03/2014 13:31

Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well.

I'm coming up for 24 weeks on friday. It's one of my mini goals, and everything still seems to be ok. Still feeling movement, although it seems to be quite low down still, not sure if that's normal.

On bump size, people have mainly said I'm bigger than expected. Bump didn't really come out until about 18 weeks, when I had to switch to maternity clothes cos normal ones were just too uncomfy. I'm supposed to see the doctor at 25 weeks so I'll see if they say anything then.

Hope the scans go well jbrd and wigwam

kjh5 · 25/03/2014 13:34

Wow tea that is so damn exciting! It feels somewhat surreal to be at this stage doesn't it? I keep desperately wanting the baby to get here and then realising all that entails and thinking maybe I can hang on a few more weeks :)

Good luck for those having scans today and in the next week! Fx everything goes really well for you xx

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 25/03/2014 14:06

Tea, I just bought a tens hire pack from boots, it's scary thinking it'll be arriving in just 4 weeks time ready for me to go into labour! Never thought I would get here either.

I would have loved a home birth, but they won't let me Sad too high risk (previous hemmorage plus big baby) you will be jut fine and so will your baby, good luck!

LondonJen · 25/03/2014 16:34

Great midwife you got there Wigwam lovely to hear of such compassion. I hope you can relax enough to really enjoy tomorrow. Stay positive. Today you are pregnant!

Try not to worry Alb is is maybe just things rearranging themselves?

Baking that would have me really vexed, I hope now your energy levels pick up. Great that baby has turned tho!

Tea that is SO exciting! Is it your first? Sorry if you've said before. I like the idea of water birth. Wondering if you'd had one before?

Excellent movement news Nerdy and a great milestone on Friday. I will be 12 weeks then so will toast the occassion with you Smile

pgchimp · 25/03/2014 17:45

jbrd and wigwam I really hope your scans today went well. Do let us know.

Prepping for actual labour is very exciting! do we know if fod's baby has made an appearance yet?

Davmallem2013 · 25/03/2014 18:54

Hello ladies, sorry for my absence, back at work and having been changed to 8 hour shifts in a more appropriate role I feel like I have been constantly at work.

Thanks for the advice stars for the ELCS I will definitely take that on board, I have quite a bad case of tocophobia and a few other issues so am hoping a consultant will understand but MW seems ok and supportive, will wait to see.

Glad everyone seems to be doing ok and scans are good.

Fingers crossed for fod I hope the silence is a good sign.

Well my NHS trust are as useless as they have been with scans so far....my scan appointment came through and I will be 13wk +4 which is stressing me a lot. DH offered to pay for another private but have said to him the NHS have to do one of them. Have had a loss of most symptoms for the last few wks, feel like things won't be ok and have said I don't want anyone told until we get past that one. I even tried to see if I could get the scan sooner by calling the scan department and although I explained my history and the fact they wouldn't book me in for the early scan they were supposed to do to rule out ectopic she just said April fools day was the first available as they only do the scans on Tuesday and Wednesdays and there are lots of pregnant women in my area so they are always busy!! Ah well nothing I can do just feels like a joke it's on April fools day next week Sad

Anyhow will try keep up with the news on here as best I can although it does move fast Grin

Penguinita · 25/03/2014 19:43

Hi everyone, have been really busy with work recently so not posted much. Glad all is well with everyone apart from the usual anxieties!

squiz don't worry about no bump and don't wish for it too quickly! I didn't get a bump until about 23 weeks and even then it wasn't obvious if I wasn't wearing a tight top. Now I've just put on 8 lbs in 4 weeks and suddenly I feel like a big hippo Sad

Glad you enjoyed your nct classes pgchimp and kjh. I have my first one on Saturday so looking forward to that (although DH isn't). I recently went to my first nhs class too, I thought it was very good and I learned quite a lot, but I'm quite naive about this whole birth business Smile. I think they can be a bit hit and miss, depending on where you live.

Hope the scan went well JBrd. And lots of luck for yours tomorrow wigwam.

And hope your tummy has settled a bit now alb and you can relax a bit.

bakingtins I had the same as you today, saw the MW and Pingu has turned head down after being breech at 28 weeks. Hoorah for turning babies! Grin. My iron was ok so still on track for a home birth.

tea glad to hear you are planning a home birth too would be very interested to hear how the run up to it goes. Did the MW leave a "pack" at your house today? I've heard they do this and I'm curious to know what is in it!

StarsInTheNightSky · 25/03/2014 21:03

Hi all Smile

Alb thank you and yep he is a boy. I'm not doing the NHS antenatal classes, or any classes actually (I'm a friendly little critter these days Grin), but at my 28 week midwife appointment she tried to persuade me to book onto them then, so I would have attended when I was about 33 - 35 weeks I think, if that helps. From friends I gather it's common in our area to book them when you're about 28 - 30 weeks, which seems pretty late to me.
I have coeliac disease, and throughout this pregnancy I get symptoms and horrendous pain as if I've eaten something I shouldn't even though I know I haven't, the hospital dietician said it is very common for people with digestive disorders/complains to have them phantomly flare up, particularly in the first and second tri, so perhaps it's just that? Any pain is awful, hang in there though, it is far, far more likely that all is well xxx.

Squiz well done for fb and typical people didn't read properly! Hmm. I know it's difficult but I really would try not to worry about not having a bump yet if I were you, I was looking at some photos with my Mum today of when she was pregnant with me, and there was one of her sideways on at 26 weeks and her stomach still looked flat as a board, you couldn't actually tell she was pregnant until about 34 weeks, and I wasn't a small baby by any means! Also, two of my friends haven't had noticable bumps (even in tight shirts) until after 28 - 30 weeks, and they both had 10lb babies! In fact, now I think about it, of all the pregnant people I know, the ones with smaller or later showing bumps have all had very big babies, whereas the ladies who have had big bumps all seem to have average size babies, so could just be you're in for a giant baby! Wink Also, with my mmcs, my bump got very big very quickly, whereas this pregnancy my bump was slower to develop, not sure if that helps.
I was wondering if I could ask your advice about the prune juice please? How much are you supposed to drink in one go? I've got some of the Sunsweet stuff and have been drinking it out of a wine glass with a straw (classy me) and I've now had nearly a litre. I'm doing a trial run as am planning to drink lots after the ELCS to avoid the dreaded surgery constipation Blush.

Corp really glad to hear you made it through your MC EDD, really annoying about the neighbours, are they usually a nuisance?

kjh not long at all for you now!!! Grin Really sorry to hear you're in a lot of pain though Sad

fod really hope the silence means you're enjoying newborn snuggles xxx

polka cbeebies and kjh had some great advice which I would second, I also get periods of terror/paranoia for no real reason too, sadly I think it comes with the territory of pregnancy after miscarriage. Really good news about your scan, and always feel free to jump in whenever you want Smile x.

jen sounds like the start of a bump to me too! Grin Mine started about there, and then rapidly grew upwards and outwards.

pgchimp glad to hear your nct went well Smile

jbrd really hope you had a nice time at your scan today

Christine hello! What a beautiful name, and what a lovely big girl! How are you both getting on? Smile

wigwam good to hear from you, and good news that your scan is tomorrow, really hope it goes really well and is a lovely experience for you and your DH x.

bakingtins great news about baby being head down, pretty rubbish about them not being more on the ball about your blood tests though Hmm

Tea that's charming from your mw! Confused Are they normally that negative about home birth, or is it just a having to tell you the potential risks backside covering exercise? Brilliant about your stuff being delivered tomorrow, and three weeks max!! Grin

nerdy fantastic news that you're so close to another milestone Smile. I was told not to worry about where you're feeling movement, so long as you're feeling it.

Dav you're very welcome, I found that all the consultants I've spoken to have been absolutely brilliant and very understanding. As I said, I got some great advice, but in particular there is a lady who goes by the username RedToothBrush (really hope she doesn't mind me signposting her knowledge) and her advice was absolutely brilliant, she seems to know a lot about the legalities of it all, and I gather she often advises on ELCS posts, so might be worth searching for some of her posts and having a browse if you want more info.
That's awful about the scan department! Do you have a named consultant/are you under consultant care? If I ever have any issues with a department I phone my consultant and he then shouts at them talks to them and gets it sorted really quickly. In my experience scan departments can be very obstinate but a word from a consultant seems to shake them up a bit. I know that probably doesn't help much now though Sad.

Phew, sorry that was so long! Not much news from my end, although I now have my ELCS date, hooray!!! It's booked for 29th May, which will be 39 + 4, and the consultant thinks he will move it forwards to 37 weeks instead, but he's waiting until our 36 week scan to decide for definite. He said he'd book a provisional, ideal case date though so that I knew it was officially booked. Our little man is currently oblique and has been for the last two weeks, which I have to say is a lot more comfortable than when he was breech! It's been giving my ribs a nice break from having his head rammed under them. I hope he does turn to a more stable position though.

StarsInTheNightSky · 25/03/2014 21:04

I meant to also say really sorry if I missed anyone!

squizita · 25/03/2014 21:14

Stars one tumbler full a night keeps me regular with soft-enough-to-bear poo. More than a couple of glasses in a sitting, and what comes out is the same texture as the prune juice itself ... but after c-section that might be the least painful way! Little need to flex the muscles. Grin One word of warning... when it 'strikes' can be random, so if you've had a lot you may need to visit the loo in the night! Still better then constipation IMO.

StarsInTheNightSky · 25/03/2014 21:20

Squiz oh, oh dear. Perhaps I have overdone it, I'm starting to get some very odd gurgles and grumbles Blush. Thanks very much, and yes, it probably is the best way, it will certainly be a super-detox Confused Grin. Haha, thank you for the warning - looks like I'll need a clear path to the loo tonight! Grin

squizita · 25/03/2014 21:25

Stars I had too much a couple of times... more inconvenient than unpleasant. Just take a book and enjoy the sit down! Grin
