How far along are you? I thought you were due any day?

squizita · 18/03/2014 15:08

Angry Yet again my local pharmacy don't have clexane and tried to blame me for them 'not knowing give it's a risky pg' (repeat prescription they are aware of). My husband pointed out they would be TOLD if I had a loss, but gaps in my prescription could result in one. They scraped together 3 days supply while the rest is ordered in.

squiz pharmacies make me stabby Angry dd1 had a CMP allergy and dd2 had a lactose allergy, it meant neither child could have normal formula milk and I didnt breastfeed either of them.

The pharmacy repeatedly 'forgot' to order in their milk, i'd go and pick it up with 1 or 2 days supply left (dr surgery refused to write prescription until we absolutely needed it because it was expensive, but that's a whole other rant) and despite telling the pharmacy how many tins of milk I would need and on what date they very rarely ordered it in. It used to drive me crazy, these were my babies they got all their nutrition from milk and I literally would feed them the last bottle and go straight to the pharmacy to pick up the milk praying they had come in over night. (one time i even had to sit there with screaming dd2 who was around 4 month old and wait 2 hours sat on the chair waiting for the delivery to come in, not fun when dd1 was 18 months old! I had no choice. the manager even came out and told me she thought she was hungry and maybe I should feed her (I was about 24 and look very very young, she was being very patronising) I ranted and raved at her for a good 20 minuites, she then went and magically found 1 tin of milk and promised the rest would be there by the end of the day.

Didnt quite mean that to be such a rant, it all suddenly came back to me! Really hoping I dont go through that again this time Sad But I know where your coming from squiz, they are just useless sometimes Angry

fod27 · 18/03/2014 16:17

I'm 40wks, if I wait that long I'll be 42! If it works, only then will I be induced the following week- that'd make me 43weeks! She has changed my dates 3 times to make allowances etc given me no referral for my SPD and to top it off said that the size of my baby doesn't matter - despite the fact it's measuring big - how big does she think she will be in another 3 weeks!!! Grrrr

I've switched MWs and I now have a sweep booked in

fod27 · 18/03/2014 16:19

That's disgusting squiz - pleased your husband kicked butt tho x

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/03/2014 16:41

Great fod, shame it's the end of your pregnancy tho. When's te sweep?

LondonJen · 18/03/2014 16:55

Squiz that is ridiculous of them. Cebeebies too. How the hell do these people manage to run successful businesses? Lordy.

Fod I can't believe your news either!! WTF? So glad you switched MW and have it sorted.

LondonJen · 18/03/2014 17:03

Ladies who have kids/large bumps already, were you able to wear drawstring/elasticated waists for quite a while or even the whole of your pregnancy?

I have got this massive bloated tum and already in mat jeans as couldn't even zip usual jeans up nevermind fasten buttons, but in the house I am tending to wear my elasticated waist tracky bottoms for comfort. Am in them so much was thinking about another pair but don't want to bother if I won't fit in them much longer. (I'm 10+4).

Did you manage to wear elasticated non-maternity clothes for quite a bit?

bakingtins · 18/03/2014 17:10

Elastic waists aren't comfy later on IMHO, unless your bump is high and you can wear them round your hips (below bump) I can't wear any of my PJ trousers any more - will have to invest in some maternity ones for hospital.
I went into maternity jeans and trousers at 16 weeks this time, prefer over the bump styles, but in first pregnancy had some lovely soft under bump yoga pants I practically lived in when not at work.
don't want to mention you may be wearing maternity trousers for a while post birth too

MabelMay · 18/03/2014 17:17

hopeful all the very best with your scan next week.

fod that's terrible she refused to give you a sweep at your stage. So glad you've found someone who will.

Thanks for all your good wishes. Surprisingly, and thankfully - as stopped me stressing the whole day - my doctor called me first thing this morning with the blood results. It was a message as I missed the call but he was all upbeat and said "Your blood results are back, and everything looks great! Call if you want to talk about anything. If not see you next week at your scan."
So... I AM STILL PREGNANT Smile I guess it goes to show sometimes my instincts are wrong. I was so sure over the weekend that it was all going wrong.

I've called back but haven't managed to speak to him directly yet just to ask about the HCG levels.
I guess all that tissue and goop and discharge was stuff coming out from implantation or settling in....? And my weak symptoms didn't mean hormone levels low. So phew.

Anyway, for once, I might actually have one day where I can enjoy the fact that I'm pregnant, for now. Not out of the woods yet I know (am still only 6+4) - but it's just a huge, huge relief for me. Thanks for sending your positive vibes everyone.

Take care all.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/03/2014 17:32

London at 32+ weeks I'm still wearing all my size 10 track suit bottoms (around the house) they are so much more comfortable than jeans! And also my leggins are normal size 10-12 (before pregmancy I had just dropped to a size 8, so I guess that are slightly larger? Although all my mat wear is size 10/12 as that's what I had from dd's)
So I would say go for it!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/03/2014 17:35

Baking tins it just goes to how how different people are!! (I hadn't finished reading thread as I'm on my phone)

bakingtins · 18/03/2014 17:36

mabel that is fab news Grin

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/03/2014 17:38

Mabel, that's great news. Now stop stressing and worrying and enjoy this time before you are puking and feeling sick Wink

bakingtins · 18/03/2014 17:38

With my DS1 bump was nice and high and didn't go into maternity trousers for ages. DS2 and this one I have no abdominal muscles and they are both l-o-w bump literally starts from my pubic bone. I guess everyone is different!
mind you I can breathe a lot better this way round

MabelMay · 18/03/2014 17:39

thanks bakingtins Smile feel like a weight off me

MabelMay · 18/03/2014 17:39

cbeebies thanks and true! I actually started feeling pretty ropey last night - but wasn't sure if it was nerves re test results or the hormones.

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/03/2014 17:41

It's strange because my bump is really low this time but I still find it more comfortable than the mat jeans and trousers! Although I do have one pair of maternity leggins that are gorgeous to wear and also a pair of over the bump joggers. Both of these are really comfortable!

squizita · 18/03/2014 18:02

Cbeebies I'm wondering if it's the same company of pharmacy. The attitude sounds identical.

I also had a bad moment today when the child hating receptionist to the medical room sent a student with a temperature and unidentified vomiting round the school to find me. Never mind (a) I don't 'do' medical just pastoral so couldn't help (b) the medical lady was there (c) had the kid been faking, they were now free to wander the school, bunking on their search for me (d) or they were spreading their germs far and wide. She had my fecking risk assessment to file YESTERDAY! The child stank of vomit, wasn't faking. I got a really shitty case of fear and ended up crying at the school nurse who assured me that provided I hadn't touched or 'licked' the child ( Grin not on your nelly) I was perfectly safe, and it didn't sound like a high risk illness.

Bloody hell fod they're taking their time eh???

Mabel PHHEEEEWWWW. So glad to hear the blood results. :)

LondonJen · 18/03/2014 18:35

Thanks Baking and Cbeebies v amusing that your experiences are contradictory! Grin I guess I need to stop trying to second guess but pennies are tight so scared of wasting. Maybe something yoga like/jersey with would be a good half way?

People keep telling me I can just wear Empire line tops and Maxi dresses before buying Mat clothes but I normally have an hour glass figure (goodbye waist!) so I don't own things like that as they hand of my large chest like a tent and make me look huge.

I like thinking about the clothes if I'm honest it's like the most lighthearted part of being pregnant! Nice to mull on that and not to be worrying.

LondonJen · 18/03/2014 18:41

Whoop whoop Mabel awesome news! Oh yes, do enjoy, relax, treat yourself. Have a lovely day Smile

Awww Squiz sorry you had to go through that, all sounds very 'eek!' but glad to know you've been informed you couldn't catch it.

fod27 · 18/03/2014 18:42

mabel that's brilliant!! This is my third baby and I'm usually a size 8/10 however I'm humongous when pregnant and embrace it! (Eat what I want) lol I was in mat clothes at 10 weeks - matalan have some brilliant stretchy black mat boot leg type leggings they are cheap, comfy and go with everything - so I could wear them for work and with a t shirt at the weekend (think they were £10 - £15) so I bought a few pairs

My sweep is next thurs but it's better than waiting until April

MrsGiraffe12 · 18/03/2014 18:51

squiz and cbeebies another fellow pharmacy hater here. When DS was a baby he was on special formula milk for premature babies (extra fat/calories etc and came in bottles ready made and pre packed sterilised teats).

I used to get it delivered every few days at home as it needed to be kept refrigerated. However, once he was 6 months old, said company refused to deliver any more as DS was too old. Also wouldn't give it in bottles with pre packaged teats as was "too costly" so tried to fob me off with a powdered alternative. I was 21, looked abkut 18 so maybe they thought I was some naive teen mum but they knew what hit them that day. I moved my prescription to a local pharmaceutical pharmacy and they delivered daily amounts so my fridge wasn't clogged up and even collected the bottles and teats for recycling. And this was until has was almost 18 months.

And with this pregnancy I've been on aspirin since I got my BFP (previous pre eclamlsia) and my gp gave me a script that had enough pills on it till the end of my pregnancy. Bloody pharmacist called surgery to "check" it before she issued it.

Why do they think they can play god with our medications?

JBrd · 19/03/2014 08:56

Good morning! I have a quick question to those who are/were taking progesterone - how did you go about stopping it? I'm supposed to be taking it for the first trimester, and my supply is going to run out by the end of this week. I'm a bit dubious about going cold turkey, i.e. going from twice daily to nothing at all, so I'm wondering if anyone has done a 'phase out', going from twice daily to once daily first, before stopping completely?
I'm just a bit worried about letting go of one of my safety ropes, I guess...

CorporeSarnie · 19/03/2014 11:35

Hi all, hope the pharmacy craziness is done (at least for now) for all of you. Sounds like the front-of-house people who aren't qualified are the problem...
Sorry I don't have any answers for JBrd, this sounds like you need to talk to your consultant if you can.
So MW booking appointment this morning, long and uneventful, except for the bit where they couldn't find a vein (my veins seem to disappear in pregnancy, I had blood tests done at the start of my last cycle and they had no trouble). So will have to go to hospital to get bloods drawn. Otherwise managed only to sniffle a bit when we talked about my previous MC and filled out the big forms. Will be under consultant led care due to my previous history (breech, EMCS, early delivery), but actually think that will be OK and almost what I'd prefer, making the massive assumption that this will all be OK.
Still starving this morning - already had porridge and an elevenses cheesy oatcake, now waiting for lunch!
