I have 39 days left (AND COUNTING) until my planned cs on 11th april

I am fat, fed up, knackered, aching, heartburn-ridden and absolutely DESPERATE for the baby to be out. this will be dc3 and deffo my LAST

anyone else got a similar amount of time left and want a thread where we can share the joys of the final stretch of pregnancy

currently todays bugbear is my needing a wee constantly, which will no doubt keep me up all night again

Thank you, Blessed!
I'm ok, think I was just having an over emotional moment. I will make some time for DS1 tomorrow though as I think he'd appreciate it and tbh, I miss him if that makes sense.

No back packed here but I've got a bit longer left. I'm probably having a home birth this time but guess I still need a bag just in case. I think first time round I packed my bag by 30wks and regularly took it all out to look at it. It's such a magical time when you are pregnant with your first.
I'm very excited to meet my baby and the new experience of having a daughter but the pregnancy itself is hard work.

I promise, no more whinging! Grin

NancyJones · 08/03/2014 21:01

bag packed

bopoityboo3 · 08/03/2014 21:14

Nancy I completely get what you mean. I loved being pregnant last time but this time I'm just fed up and bored of not being able to do anything normally. Really just want my baby now.

HelenHen · 08/03/2014 21:57

Oh Nancy Sad my sister has 4 kids and her house is mental... But those kids have a great time! I've always wanted a mad house to be honest Smile

Bopoity, I've had mine packed a long time but I like to be organised!

Inglori0us · 08/03/2014 22:18

I'm packed but that's because I've had such a rough time of it. DH brought my bag to the hospital the day I fell down and I found the contents a bit weird. About 6 tops but only one pair of trousers for example! I've since repacked with 2 full changes of clothes and pjs. DH can bring more if I stay in longer.

Packed a separate bag for the baby and an overnight bag for my dd incase she goes to stay with my mum or a friend.

Baby was transverse yesterday but it feels like he's trying to move round now so fingers crossed. I do worry that if he manages to get head down then he'll want to come out. I just want to get through the next 2 weeks so I can go to dd's 2nd birthday party. If he's born before then he'll probably need a stay in scbu as I'm only 34 weeks now.

Hello due 9th April with my first it's been such a nice day here in Portugal all ive wanted is nachos and a cider in a beer Haden none of which I can do book feel huge look huge not sleeping really at all 2 hours at a time max I hope I don't go overdue

CaipirinhasAllRound · 09/03/2014 08:23

Would you recommend a different bag for baby or does it really not matter? We're away this weekend staying with friends so I packed what I had ready and have it in the car. Don't feel I have enough clothes and knickers that fit me to pack any of those yet though, I need them all!

HelenHen · 09/03/2014 09:07

Hope ya make it inglori0us! Beautiful day here too Vikki... Gonna take ds to park in a bit and let him run his little legs off!

Caipirinhas I guess it doesn't really matter but I think it makes everything easier to keep them separate so you're not rooting through vests and stuff to find a pair of knickers!

NancyJones · 09/03/2014 11:23

Thank all!
I don't think it matters about having a separate bag but it's really down to personal preference. First time I took enough for baby and me to stay in for 2 days but had a 6hour discharge so only used one set of stuff for ds1 and didn't use my change of clothes at all! One thing I'd forgotten was a toothbrush and toothpaste so I'm glad I came straight home. I've heard quite a few mums say that one of the most useful things they packed was fleecy socks as their feet got cold so the first timers may want to add those if they don't have them packed already.

First time we also took a CD and snacks but as I didn't go to hospital until contractions were 2mins apart and lasting nearly a minute then we weren't there that long as da1 came a couple of hours after arriving. Ds2 came about 20mins after arriving at hospital. So neither time did we have time or inclination for anything other than the business at hand. Obviously if you're being induced then there'll be lots of waiting around so it may be useful to pack snacks and mags and stuff.

I have asked to be induced this time due to lack of childcare as ds3 has SN and we have literally no family to help. A friend has offered but she'd need to know dates to book with work. Hospital not keen but I've appealed and I see another consultant on wed to see. Otherwise it will be another home birth for me which they didn't recommend for medical reasons but I don't want to give birth without DH there.

Inglori0us, hope you make it past the party!

NancyJones · 09/03/2014 11:27

Oh re knickers; can I suggest to the first timers not to bother with disposable ones. There's expensive, grotty and uncomfortable. They make you itch like mad and they sit right where a CS scar would be if you ended up needing one.
Much better to get to tesco and buy multi pack of granny knickers. They're cotton, cheap and come up really high. At something like £3 for 7 you can easily dispose of them too. Remember to size up.

Inglori0us · 09/03/2014 13:19

I took a separate bag for the baby as I was being induced so was in a whole day before dd was born and it made finding my stuff easier. Also I knew there was a chance we would need to stay in a few days so packed quite a bit of stuff and it wouldn't all go in one bag.
Re knickers, get a cheap, larger size multipack of black knickers from Tesco or Primark or somewhere. Disposables are crap!
I packed a few nappies and maternity pads and kept a stock of extra in the car to save space.

NancyJones · 09/03/2014 14:10

Yes, to remembering to buy and pack enough maternity towels. First time I had bought nowhere near enough as I judged it like a period. I had no idea I would start off changing every hour. Some women will need more than others but it was definitely someone I, and some friends I've spoken to, underestimated.

Separate bag is probably easier to get to things. The other option if you are using a hold all of some sort and wanted to stick to one bag is to put either your stuff or baby stuff in a large, clean carrier bag inside the bag. That way it's just one bag to worry about but you know stuff is separate. With a sports holdall you also have the option of putting stuff like knickers and mat towels in the side pockets for easy access.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun! Smile

HelenHen · 09/03/2014 15:09

Agree with the disposable knickers, I bought some but they're horrible! Also agree with maternity pads - buy millions!

Another odd one... When we did the hospital tour, we were advised to bring our own pillow cos apparently there was a shortage at the hospital Shock . If you've got long curly Hair like me, a luxury you might consider is a single use intensive conditioner (I got a tresemme one for about £2. Seriously, my hair has never been in such a state... Took me about an hour to brush! Grin dunno what the fuck happened!

Inglori0us · 09/03/2014 15:55

Yes! Helen my hair was a disaster too!
Also when waters broke it was LOADS of liquid. And it just kept on coming for hours! I used 3 packs of maternity pads in 2 days.

HelenHen · 09/03/2014 16:17

Were you induced? I was induced and they broke my waters. It was horrible, just like I was peeing myself in the bed for ten minutes and couldn't stop. I've been wondering if it's the same when your waters break naturally? I better get some of those mats for the bed just in case Blush

I'm a better mom today, brought ds to park and he ran his little legs off, Home, lunch, bath, bed and he's still asleep 3.5 hours later while we watch the rugby Grin . It obviously helped that dh was there to chase him about!

HelenHen · 09/03/2014 16:20

I might get another couple of those intensive conditioners actually! Just remembering how bad it actually was lol, I doubt one will be enough! My hair is down to my waist but it was so knotted it was up to my shoulders Grin nightmare!

Vikkijayne2507 · 09/03/2014 16:41

hmm I have 1 packet of pads maybe ill get another. I also need more underwear some cheap big ones but here on Portugal I don't know where best place to go get them maybe big supermarket

Inglori0us · 09/03/2014 18:26

My waters broke naturally. It felt like a pinging sensation then loads and loads of fluid came out. I know it varies from person to person but mine was enough to make an actual puddle on the floor. I was induced on a drop around 30 hours later as labour hadn't progressed enough.

Inglori0us · 09/03/2014 18:27

Drip. Not drop.

HelenHen · 09/03/2014 18:41

I'd say the supermarkets would be s good bet Vikki, do you have discount clothes stores?

Ah no inglori0us... Not hoping for that at all! We have cream carpets Shock

PhantomMenace · 09/03/2014 18:43

Hello everyone, Im due on the 16th April but booked in for the 9th April for my planned C-section. This will be baby number 4 Grin. I also have placenta previa, im having a scan on Thursday to see if the placenta moved im not sure what they will do if it hasn't, the consultant was quite firm on not delivering before 39 weeks.

NancyJones · 09/03/2014 20:55

Hi Vikki, I'd try a supermarket or the cheapest clothes shop you know. You want big 'granny' style that come right up your middle. I wish I'd done that first time rather than spending money on those horrid disposable things like paper.
Hi, PhantomMenace, I'm on no4 too. Feel too old to be having babies at my age (43) especially as a good friend just a year older became a granny last month! She had her dd whilst still at uni age 19 and now her dd has just had her own dd age 25! This baby will be my first and last dd so if she has a baby at 25, I'll be 68! but if she doesn't start until mid to late 30s then I'll be close to 80 if I haven't withered away under a pile of washing before then! Grin

Inglori0us · 09/03/2014 22:04

My current mantra is "I'm too old for this shit".
Never comfy, always tired, aches, pains, Braxton hicks, heartburn, can't sleep, blah blah blah, whinge, moan.

My poor dh must be bored of hearing it because I know I'm bored of thinking it!

Vikkijayne2507 · 09/03/2014 22:12

I will head to super market in search of granny knickers and pads very sexy shopping lol

Philoslothy · 09/03/2014 22:14

I am due at the end of the month, very excited to welcome baby number 5.
