Bunnygirlie · 20/02/2014 13:24

Ello! Felt so crappy this morning that I didn't go to work, bad me!

Thanks for advice merk I will pimp before mw arrives then.

jess the 12 week scan must be madness, seeing a little person in there!

Sorry to hear about the pains thunder , 36 weeks today wow! I'm 8 weeks today so just a teeny weeny bit behind you Wink

CatsCantFlyFast · 20/02/2014 13:48

Bunny we have all been there. Its worth knowing that pregnancy related sickness does not count as normal sick days at work. Obv for this to be applied you need to tell your work, but being ill was the reason I ended up telling work early

jessplussomeonenew · 20/02/2014 14:00

Bunny, sometimes you just need to take it easy and not feel guilty. Weeks 8 and 9 were the worst for me so hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

I've had to take quite a bit of time off with sickness - basically if I lie flat most of the day I can eat and drink reasonably well but if I move around, particularly in the morning, I start throwing up and feeling really drained. Work have been great and I've done a lot of working from home from my sofa with feet up, but the last two days I've got up and gone out and had worse days as a result. I am hoping nausea will be over soon. Anyway, hang on in there, and take care of yourself.

CatsCantFlyFast · 20/02/2014 19:31

Kitty how was the GTT? All ok I assume

Bunnygirlie · 20/02/2014 20:35

So as well as the nausea I've had a headache all afternoon too, having to resort to one paracetamol.

Just had to watch DH eat baked Camembert, it was tough! Gawd I love Camembert!

CatsCantFlyFast · 20/02/2014 21:03

Bunny cooked cheese is fine. Check the NHS website as there's actually v few cheeses you can't have

Bunnygirlie · 20/02/2014 21:31

But I read you can't have it, now I am Sad

Thunderpantsarego · 20/02/2014 21:55

Oh yes we have sausages in here too.....

Foodylicious · 20/02/2014 22:02

From what I remember you can get pasturised camambere and have it baked.
Was thinking about your gtt kitty, is all ok?

CatsCantFlyFast · 20/02/2014 22:54

Baking cheese (thoroughly) kills the bacteria
here

PuppyMummy · 21/02/2014 07:45

Morning berries.

BlindKitty · 21/02/2014 08:18

bleary thanks for the advice. So do I need short sleeved vests and long sleeved baby grows then? Having the same thoughts as puppy!

merk foody I haven't heard back so guessing all is fine! Surprise surprise! It was painfully boring!

bunny did you decide to have another scan in the end?

So mum has come to stay. I can feel a small baby shopping spree is on the cards...

jess when are you 'coming out'?

Bunnygirlie · 21/02/2014 08:31

So I log on this morning and get wanged, charming lol Thanks thunder

I spent the night having weird dreams about being cheese, working in a hospital and owning a rabbit, it's like I did eat that cheese after all?!?!?

kitty I think we will just wait for the 12 week scan. I did stress a little bit after poor Wins news but just gonna wait and think positive Smile

Back to work today. Happy Friday peeps!

BlindKitty · 21/02/2014 09:03

bunny we waited too. If you think about it, most people don't even get a 6 week scan so we were lucky in that respect. It won't be long now Smile

Just heard from screening unit, we have 1 in 58 risk of Downs - going in this afternoon to speak to them. Trying to see the positive side but really scared....

CatsCantFlyFast · 21/02/2014 09:42

Jess, Is there a specific result that is making the risk higher? You should be able to get separate results for your bloods and nuchal measurement. Take the information they give you this afternoon, but also give yourself time to think through and understand your options and next steps before making any decisions. Try to stay calm
Remember that even if the calculated risk they have given you is correct that that still means 57 out of 58 babies do not have Downs.
What time is your appointment? Will be thinking of you

jessplussomeonenew · 21/02/2014 09:54

It's the PappA apparently - trying hard not to google but I seem to recall that can be associated with heart problems too so hope they'll explain this afternoon. Appt is at 3 today.

I think I will try to get the harmony test done - after ttc so long I'm not sure if I could cope with the risk of mc from invasive testing. Downs would cut across so many of the things I dreamed about in having a child but I'm not sure I could bear to terminate unless it's something life-threatening. Am trying to remember 57 chances of it being ok...

CatsCantFlyFast · 21/02/2014 10:09

I had a low PappA result which did slightly throw my overall risk, but not to the degree of yours. I also had the Harmony, which was v good. However its worth remembering that Harmony will still only give you a risk (either 1 in 2 or 1 in 10000) and results will take 2 weeks to come back (although I suspect they can fast track). If you did want a more certain result and it was the risk of miscarriage from invasive procedures that is worrying you then it is worth looking at going private for an amnio. As I understand it, the risk is related to the person carrying out the procedure and can be almost ignored as a risk when carried out by certain people x

SidneyBristow · 21/02/2014 10:49

Jess offering another hand to hold over here. I am learning quite quickly that this pregnancy thing is scary! As merk said, the odds you were given also mean 57 out of 58 children have no issues - try to hold on to that until your appt, when they're able to give you more info, and then you can make some decisions about whether to pursue other tests.

bunny sounds like this cheese thing has really affected you Wink I don't much care what I eat these days, as long as I eat before the queasiness takes hold. At this rate I'll be a whale before 9 months are up! I'm just now making a decided effort to read up on foods/supplements to eat/avoid. IVF clinic had me taking 1000IU of Vitamin A, which is 1/10th the threshhold thought dangerous in pregnancy, but of course I'm nervous about having unintentionally caused a birth defect. At some point I'm going to have to decide to stop being a catastrophist and just get on with being sensible.

When did you all start buying maternity clothes, and baby clothes/supplies? I keep seeing sales and wondering if it's sensible, or crazy, to consider buying things as they go on sale, to wind up with a basic wardrobe to have on hand. basically I just want to finally buy baby things for my own child instead of someone else's

About the baby sock debate, I'm voting "yes". They're so tiny! How can anyone resist? said the crazy baby-clothes lady

Merk is the cot built yet? Any more helpful input from MIL? Wink

Enjoy the rest of your holiday Puppy!

Hi to everyone else! If there's a FB group could someone please send me the info; I was superstitious about participating on baby threads before, but now I'm thinking that downplaying my own happiness is just stupid and that I should get all the advice I can before you all graduate!

BlearyeyedLol · 21/02/2014 11:51

Hi did don't know if you remember me, I'm an old gradGrin
If you pm me your fb name I will add you to the group!
Jess how worrying. Get all the info and come here with it. Dr merk knows more than any gp and will be able to help you make sense of things. Good luck!
Kitty I would get a few long sleeve vests in a bigger size (0-3 months) for the colder days!
