Sorry if it's inappropriate Grin But DH is doing my head in!!!

This purchase is the one thing we can't reach a decision on!! I've seen a gorgeous set I like, starts off as a pram, transforms to pushchair when needed (front and rear facing as per choice) and also comes with separate car seat, rain covers and travel bag. It is £280 and DH says there is NO way we are spending that much money on a pram Hmm I actually thought it was pretty good value for all that is included (and it's gorgeous)!!

Is he being stingy or am I being delusional? Smile

Hello,

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the products mentioned on this thread aren't available any more. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing prams and pushchairs, from lightweight easy folding prams to all terrain buggies, we've seen them all. Here's our round up of the best baby pushchairs on the market right now.

Hope that helps! Flowers

£21 off eBay. Britax thingy with car seat, pushchair and adaptors.

Cannotbelieveit · 18/01/2014 20:52

I've had to get a tandem as DS1 will be 12 months old when DS2 arrives.

Gone for the Oyster Max and carrycot and with the 20% discount mothercare were offering at the time it came to £514.

Still have the maxi cosi cabriofix from DS1 to use with it though

purplebaubles · 18/01/2014 20:55

I-candy peach here...say no more ;) (it is fab though, love it, and actually we didn't pay, parents did, lovely parents!) Not much change from a £900...£280 sounds cheap to me!

curiousgeorgie · 18/01/2014 20:57

I have 3...

A bugaboo that was 799.
An Icandy peach blossom 2 - 785
And a Quinny zapp xtra - 170ish to be our theme park / left outside pram.

So, without foot muffs, cup holders, car seats, adaptor clips etc...

£1754.

Jesus.

Orangeychoc · 18/01/2014 20:59

We spent £700 on Uppababy vista (bassinet & pushchair) plus about £100 on a car seat & another £150 in isofix base. Plus £45 on footmuff for pushchair.

I would say £280 is cheap!!

curiousgeorgie · 18/01/2014 21:00

You're is a bargain. We spent all that money and still bought asleep rare carseat!

emmak8383 · 18/01/2014 21:00

Chicco 3 in 1 travel system £300 reduced from £600. Car seat, carry cot and pushchair so will last our LO for years.

curiousgeorgie · 18/01/2014 21:02

Clearly my phone is pissed.

A 'separate car seat'

Pixielady83 · 18/01/2014 21:11

Haven't read the whole thread. sorry, but seriously send him to a pram shop or John Lewis and he will come back realising that is extremely reasonable! we spent £700 (bugaboo) but that included everything and we got a good discount from our local pram shop on it and a few extras. DH was initially all for eBay and cheap prams but once he'd actually tested a few he realised it is worth spending on something that you'll get plenty of use out of and fits your needs rather than buying cheap and then potentially replacing several times. We used ours everyday for 2yrs and its about to come out again for no 2 so reckon we will end up getting our money's worth Smile

MrsArthurWellesley · 18/01/2014 21:42

Spend whatever you think is appropriate but I would want to do some research about the car seat before committing. You'd want to get the best car seat you can afford - I'd be less fussy about the pushchair.

islasmummy2013 · 18/01/2014 22:01

Bugaboo donkey £1000, then carseat and footmuffs.. so around 1300? Wow.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 18/01/2014 22:02

£630 plus other bits to go with it at £120. Hmm

Has been serving us well fir the last 3 years though.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 18/01/2014 22:03

It was Stokke btw. Still love it Smile

Writerwannabe83 · 18/01/2014 22:06

I think I'm too lower class for this thread now, lol. I'm starting to feel a bit poor Grin There's no way we could afford more than a £300 set so all these brands and prices are overwhelming me a little. But thanks everyone for your advice and suggestions Smile

oadcb · 18/01/2014 22:09

Seriously consider second hand. You can't get some bargains!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 18/01/2014 22:17

I'm forrin so no class Grin Well, I'm un class of my own Wink

I have a friend with a problem who bought 'cheap' prams but about 10, one after the other. Must have spend xxxx tines more than I did and none if us is well off.

oadcb · 18/01/2014 22:28

OP head over to pushchair topic.

If you list what you want from a pushchair you'll get lots of suggestions.

I'd also recommend a out and about 360. Another one that will see you through to toddler

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 18/01/2014 22:33

Mines is a mamas and papas pliko pramette which was pushchair and car seat for 200! Then cosy toes and parasol were half price so I think it was 50 for them

Magix · 18/01/2014 22:35

£230 is very cheap . My icandy apple was £780

Writerwannabe83 · 18/01/2014 22:35

How can you "list what you want from a push chair"?
I just want something to push the baby around in - I didn't realise it had to be more complicated than that? Grin

OP posts:
oadcb · 18/01/2014 22:43

You are very naive! I reckon you need to think more about what you want.

Will you be walking daily?
Using buses
Mainly use car
Does it have to face you or are you happy with just forward facing
Carrycot essential or not?
One hand fold (essential if on bus)
Off road, beach, or just urban.
Are you wanting something to last from birth to toddler or will you be getting a umbrella fold from about a year ( loads of people do!)
3 or 4 wheels

I test and review pushchairs. Important things to think about or you will just waste your money.

Pixielady83 · 18/01/2014 22:45

Grin writer depends how fussy you are! we needed lightweight and easy to fold as I'm little and have hip problems. we wanted forward and rear facing as pfb but you can save a lot by not being as precious about seeing baby all the time! We also wanted something good off road and think that's where it bumped our costs up. There are a lot of good cheaper travel systems if you are sticking to pavements I reckon. Think about if you get buses regularly (need to be able to fold, bump on and off), whether you walk or drive most days.

Bumpiemalumpie · 18/01/2014 22:46

We have a brand new britax, bsmart 3. It is three wheeler, suitable from birth, forward and rearward facing and great big basket! £187!!

DisneyAddict88 · 18/01/2014 22:46

Ive got a bugaboo bee and that cost £350 new then borrowed a carseat from a friend. and I have a second hand phil and teds from ebay for £35 which I use for rough terrain or if I need to do food shopping Grin

cupoftchai · 18/01/2014 22:53

£50 eBay second hand travel system (britax) loved it. Thoroughly recommend. Meant we could have baby in a cute carrycot then a short while with a parent facing seat before swapping to something MUCH easier to push, carry, get round shops with, walk in countryside, use public transport... We now have 2different buggies a 'town' and 'country' one (I know..). One out n about nipper 360, handmedown but 2nd hand about £100? One mamas and papas kato, basic umbrella buggy £75 new.
I would recommend saving money for once u r out of the carrycot stage as u have to compromise so many other functions to accommodate that fully.
Or, maybe u hate pram shopping and just want something that works. In which case, I guess I should envy u!! Congrats on your preg.
