I think I am pregnant ( 2+ tests!) but the tests have only been positive with strong urine and this morning I have started bleeding. Its not super heavy and its mostly a browny colour but there are spots of bright red blood. I am also having period type pains. Does that mean I am not pregnant any more?

I don't really know what to do now? Do I just leave it and assume that I had a chemical pregnancy or do i need to see my Dr?

Thanks for any help.

I would see you gp, it could be an implantation bleed, but get it checked out.

misdee · 26/07/2006 09:11

oh smurfgirl

go see the GP. i had bleeds in all my pregnancies, but all were a lot later (17-20weeks) which sound like you are having right now.

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 09:11

Whats an implantation bleed? Would it hurt like a period? Sorry I am a bit freaked out abut possibly being pregnant so this is a lot for me.

why not try the family planning clinic? or is there a young persons clinic in your town? i know here we have a centre for people under 25 that you can just walk in and they will help you with any health problems etc.maybe worth a look in the phone book?

novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 09:17

smurfgirl - how many weeks do you think you are? I had 3 days of brown bleeding when my AF was due, but it was implantation bleeding. I think it's best not to assume anything, and agree that seeing a GP would help. If thats not possible then maybe do another test and see what that says. FWIW I had AF type cramps for the first couple of weeks with my DD and this current pg.

novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 09:18

yes, a family planning clinic = a very good idea

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 09:18

I have an appointment with the nurse at 4pm.

I am so so scared at the moment.

I got a positive test this morning BTW.

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 09:20

novadandypowder i would be 4 weeks? i don't really understand how it all works tbh my period was due yesterday

thanks for all the support, luckily i can miss today from placement but i have to go in tomorrow so hope i get some answers, do you think its ok to miss work today because of this?

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 09:23

It's not unusual to get a little spotting when your AF is due, as I said I got it for 3 days with this one.

It's totally fine to miss work for a day, sounds like you have a lot to get your head around.

heavenis · 26/07/2006 09:24

I don't think there would be any problem with you missing work. I'm glad you have an appointment, good luck.

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 09:25

Thanks for the support I will update you when I get back after the appointment

Implation bleed can happen 6-12 days after ovulation, small amounts of pinkish/brownish blood. (this is only what I have looked up on the net so don't take it as gospel)

SSSandy · 26/07/2006 10:01

The period like pains are not good. Take it easy today please.

colditz · 26/07/2006 10:32

Smurfgirl I had this with both pregnancies - I bled quite heavily with the first.

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 12:20

I am still bleeding and its more red now, if I didn;t have a positive test i would think it was my period

i don't think the nurse will do anything for me will she?

dp keeps saying its for the best but i still feel sad

OP posts:
colditz · 26/07/2006 12:39

Of course yu feel sad. But I would still go to the doctors for a scan, because I bled so heavily in my first pregnancy that I was sent for a scan to confirm everything had come away, and there it was, fluttering away.

I hope you get the result you want, waiting is awful I know.

apronstrings · 26/07/2006 12:56

hope everything is ok - take things easy - will look later to find out what the nurse thinks

heavenis · 26/07/2006 13:46

Rest as much as you can. Check in later to see how you are.

Piffle · 26/07/2006 17:11

smurfgirl hope you're ok, have you seen the dr?
Hugs xxxxxxxxxx

smurfgirl · 26/07/2006 17:20

I saw the nurse and she said I can have a blood test on Tuesday to see. I asked if the bleeding emeant I had miscarried and she said it might??

I am still getting a mix of positive and negative tests so I am so so confused and to be honest I am very upset. Unless my wee is strong (TMI sorry!) i get negative results which suggests to me it is chemical? I don;t knwo what to do really.

You poor thing, I haven't been through this but ther will be others on this thread that will be able to give you better advice.
Has Dp been with you.
Big hugs

novadandypowder · 26/07/2006 19:36

Oh smurfgirl, I'm sorry there's no answer for you today, it's never nice being in a state of limbo.

If you want to air your thoughts and feelings about it on here, we won't judge, we'll just listen and support.

Piffle · 26/07/2006 21:14

smurfgirl big hugs
How is the bleeding?
I have had two chemicals, like you got mixture of faint + and - results
Please be aware of any one sided pain and/or shoulder pain which could indicate an ectopic - I've had one of those two. That is an emergency call.
I just hope it works out for you the way you want it to
