Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, pregnant with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

foody the actual scanning took an hour, add to that about 5 mins waiting and walking from car park time.

we did have a trainee Sonographer tho and baby was very naughty moving round the whole time! once she got her measurements it was all double checked by a 'proper' Sonographer. they had trouble with the heart chambers cos of the movement but did a really good job and got everything.

my friend had her scan the day before mine and hers took 2hrs cos baby was in totally the wrong place and they kept stopping and asking her to walk about etc to try and move it.

im interested to see how everyone else got on!

Thunderpantsarego · 26/01/2014 19:49

I think ours was about 30-40 mins? Didn't time it exactly as was bricking it but thunderbean was lying obediently on one side so she whizzed through all the measurements.

BlindKitty · 26/01/2014 19:49

bunny my advice would be to remember that whatever you're feeling, chances are we've already been there so feel free to offload any worries

foody not really sure, maybe 20-25mins? Guessing you'll have to have a cervical length scan as well like me?

Tallyra · 26/01/2014 20:01

I think mine too about 20 mins, baby wasn't moving too much and technician was really efficient.

PoppySeedBun · 26/01/2014 20:02

Welcome, bunny!

Tops: Just take one day at a time, especially if you're feeling grim. Remember: virtually every symptom you can imagine is completely normal, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get checked out if you are worried. Scans are your friend, but try not to fixate too much - the reassurance doesn't last very long afterwards.
And somehow, one day at a time, I'm all the way to 28 weeks (eek!)

20 week scan - I can't really remember - such a blur! I think probably 25 mins or so? Had a super-efficient sonographer though.

Thanks for all the fish and chips love - resisted temptation in the end and had steak and wedges at home. Felt bad about making DH go out in the cold and rain last night Blush

Feeling grim today, like I've been run over. Think I'm probably just getting a cold. And I think I've seen my first stretch marks too Sad

Foodylicious · 26/01/2014 20:11

thanks guys!
kitty I had my last cervical length scan about 2 weeks ago, got another one in 2 weeks so don't expect them to do anything extra tomorrow.
Seems the protocol is different depending on where you live, where I am they usually do cervical length at 16, 20 & 24 weeks and extra ones in between if they need to. So far both of mine measured they same, but they were a bit early at 14+4 and 18+4, so I might get another one after the 3rd one IYSWIM.

Hope you feel better tomorrow poppy

Bunnygirlie · 26/01/2014 21:08

Nice to meet you poppy

Thanks for the advice ladies

Talk about scans, scares me, feel like I'm an imposter.

Foodylicious · 26/01/2014 21:22

Don't you dare bunny!

but I know exactly what you mean. Just take one day at a time Grin

BlearyeyedLol · 26/01/2014 21:26

Oooooooooh hello bunny!!!!!!
How amazing to see you here. Bet it feels surreal GrinGrin
Huge congratulations!! What are the next steps for you?

CharmingCats · 26/01/2014 21:36

Hello bunny ! Please stay! It's as lovely as the original thread and we need you!
Still grinning for you x

BlindKitty · 26/01/2014 21:46

bunny I specifically remember discussion about nuchal fold scans (don't worry about what that is though just yet) freaking me out so bad I didn't come out of berry hq for a week!

foody I've had my 21, 23 and awaiting an appointment for 25 weeks. Hopefully they'll discharge me after that. Didn't even have a loop excision in the first place! Stoopid doctors!

Just found out that my dh's mate is going to buy us the bedside crib I was telling him about! He's feeling bad as he's made £4k out of my Dh getting his new job (he simply suggested him!). Not complaining though as its £169!

Bunnygirlie · 26/01/2014 22:27

Hey lol lovely to see you old chum!

charming Hellooooooo

Nuchal what?!?!?

Thunderpantsarego · 27/01/2014 06:54

There are several sofas here bunny, you take your pick.

How is it Monday already? That weekend went waaay too quickly. I have an antenatal appt today- must remember to pee in pot.

How's everyone else doing?

Tallyra · 27/01/2014 07:24

I hate mornings. Especially Mondays. I've started feeling sick if I rush so I have to get up much earlier than I'd like to Hmm
Grrrr

BlindKitty · 27/01/2014 07:26

Yep don't worry yourself with all that atm, well not for a good while anyway. Are you sleeping any better?

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/01/2014 08:02

Bunny your clinic will give you your due date, but then your midwife will ignore that at your booking in and will calculate from the first day of your last period (even if that's obviously wrong). Then that date will get revised again at your 12 week scan, and potentially later scans. But as my midwife says, just think of it as a due month, the actual date isn't important

PuppyMummy · 27/01/2014 08:14

bunny we mainly just moan and stress!

today I am v sad as I hav ditched my heels and gone to work in flats (NEVER happens!) but my back has been hurting a lot and I think this might help!!

CatsCantFlyFast · 27/01/2014 08:45

Foody my 20 week scan tool 1.5 to
2 hours due to awkward position of baby so sonographer could only see one arm. I was sent to walk and have a drink while she scanned somebody else

Right... Other than prams has anybody done any research on anything else to buy? I'm thinking I should be packing hospital bag soon, and at least be vaguely prepared in case baby makes an early arrival. SIL is ordering the Moses basket and I know I need to order sheets etc. but what about bottles, sterilisers, etc etc? Am hoping somebody has figured it all out already Grin

Thunderpantsarego · 27/01/2014 09:06

I've been given it all merk so I haven't needed to do any research which suits me just fine. The only thing I'm looking into myself at the moment is reuseable nappies. Sorry!

So... If your baby doesn't come early does that mean you might need a section seeing as she's big?

BlindKitty · 27/01/2014 09:34

puppy is it your lower back? I found a good pregnancy yoga move on YouTube that you might want to look up. Also, just not sitting in one spot for too long helps as well

merk jules Oliver wrote a section in her book about what you really need in your hospital bag. Remind me to dig it out for you later if I forget

bunny yep puppy is right, I think we do just moan a lot in here haha! At least we seem to take turns in doing so though!

jessplussomeonenew · 27/01/2014 10:53

Hi ladies, can I join in? After 2 years ttc I'd started to think I'd never see a bfp but at 9+1 am starting to dare to believe it now - booking in on Thursday and hoping so much to hear a heartbeat and know there's a real person in there!

PoppySeedBun · 27/01/2014 10:58

Welcome, Jess!
so exciting - fingers xed for your booking in. Seeing the heartbeat is so exciting!

Re: preparations, I have car seat, travel system/buggy, and a co-sleeper cot. I also have lots of lists from other mums Smile
Hoping to get a bunch more stuff next weekend when my Mum visits - clothes, muslins, etc.
not sure about bottles/pumps/sterilisers though.

Hi Jess, welcome in and congratulations. Have you been booked in by your midwives yet?

Tallyra · 27/01/2014 12:37

Hi Jess, welcome! Do I know you from the HG thread?

Kat I was told that the sickness can return towards the end but thankfully it's staying at normal ms level, with a morning session if I'm tired or an all day one if I've pushed it too far.

Merk, we have been given most things but still need to look into some stuff. The first thing we bought, aaages ago, was a caboo baby carrier sling thing that we saw being used with a newborn in a supermarket. It's pretty ingenious and adjustable for dh.
