I'm a bit nervous about opening this thread as I've only foundt out I'm pregnant and anything can happen...anyway, due date 1st november, I still cant believe it.....
This is my second baby but I'm even more anxious about this pregnancy than first time round...I'd been wantind a 2nd baby for over a yera now, but dh wanted to wait longer, and now it's happened, but it wasn't planned at all!!!

We're both over the moon though, but trying to contain our happyness just in case....(easier said than done)

anyway, I fell better now, having shared this with you..

off to play with dd1 now!!!

So pleased for you Bunny! Can't wait for my scan, but just a few weeks to go now.
Incidentally, one of the midwives at my last antenatal class said that underwired bras were perfectly OK so long as they fitted OK. If you grow out of them the wires can dig in (especially under your arms) and can hurt your milk ducts. I wore wires up until 36 weeks last time, but when I went to M&S to buy nursing bras I got such a lecture from the fitting lady! First of all, she didn't want to measure me until 38 weeks (I'm 20 miles from the nearest decent shops) and then she yelled over to another lady to come and measure me because she hadn't had her full training yet "and this lady's 8 months and STILL WEARING WIRES!!!"
I felt about 12 years old again . . .

Hi people.
Yes I'm late on the thread.
Technically I'm due 29th Nov but I think thats wrong cos I told the doc 22nd but when I rechcked my diary it was the 18th. whatever I'm still due november and wishing it was over already

jellycat · 17/04/2004 19:33

Hello Bronze, congratulations and welcome to the thread. You must be due about the same time as me - last AF started very late in the day on the 18th so I put it down as the 19th. Due date should be 25th but most of the calculators say 26th (because they don't take account of the leap year). I'm not arguing - last baby was 6 days late so I'm not thinking too much about the due date. Do I take it you're not feeling great?

Egypt · 17/04/2004 19:54

sorry for butting in from may thread, just wanted to say congrats to all of you - and bunny, very pleased that you are pregnany again. i really hope all goes well for you this time around. much love.

Bronze · 17/04/2004 22:33

Thanks Jellycat, Yeah you got it in one on the not feeling great front. As Ive put on another thread I'm finding it tough with DS1 and horrible constant nausea and sickness. I think I'm going to leave my date as it is with the meds and wait and see what the dating scan comes up as. I'm hoping its earlier rather than late so its a little smaller as my first was 9lb 14 and though I'm tall and quite small framed.
We'll have to keep tabs on each others progress

Good luck

B

bunny2 · 19/04/2004 13:28

Thanks Egypt

Welcome Bronze.

I've had another scan after bleeding a bit last night, I cant cope with all this worry! Anyway it is all fine and my due date is 25th Nov now so 2 days less to go.

PotPourri · 19/04/2004 16:06

Congrats Bronze. Hope your sickness gets better soon. How to cope with it seems to be dominating my thoughts at the minute, but I keep thinking it must get better soon!

Bit worried about the thread regarding sickness getting worse in later pregnancies! We wanted at least one more... Mind you, the theory that girls give you the worst MS is quite good as I would like a little girl. I read in my running magazine that running helps with MS adn so have been out every morning literlly hte moment I get up - which is the most motivated I have ever been to go out at the crack of dawn - rain and shine! It seems to be working reasonably well, as does jacobs cream crackers every 15-20 minutes and peppermint tea is really very good.

bunny2 · 19/04/2004 18:55

PP, this is my 4th pregnancy and the one with the least sickness, everyone is different!

vivie · 19/04/2004 21:39

Hi Bronze and congratulations! Hope you're feeling better soon (and you too PP) - remember we'll be blooming before too long - I hope...
How are you coping bunny? That bleed must've been terrifying but I'm glad the scan was okay.
I'm not sick any more but I've done something stupid to my back which is really sore, especially as the day goes on. As it's impossible to avoid lifting my wriggling 17 month old I don't see how I can rest and let it recover so I'm hoping this isn't going to be a major problem. I'm going for a swim tomorrow so maybe that'll help.
Keep well everyone!

jellycat · 20/04/2004 13:36

Hi everyone . We had our scan today and everything is OK so far . Saw the heartbeat, and the cord and even saw bean wriggling. Much relief!

vivie, hope your back is better. If it isn't you really must see a doctor and be very careful in the meantime. Not wishing to alarm you but a friend of mine has recently had to have an operation on her back. She fell last year and the injury, which wasn't too bad at first, became much worse because she was having to lift her toddler (he was about the same age as yours at the time). She had to get him to do much more for himself (e.g. climb in and out of cot and bath using a step). I'm sure yours won't come to this but don't take any chances - get yourself seen if it doesn't clear up.

bunny2 · 20/04/2004 19:27

Jellycat, so pleased your scan was a goodie. I hope that is a huge weight off your mind. Do you have a date?

Hi Vive, how's your back? Mine went last time I was pg and it was awful.

collision · 20/04/2004 21:01

Great news Jellycat!! Put your feet up and have a rest now.

I finally took my urine sample in to 'confirm' my PG and had to pay 6.61 euros which is about £4.20. Went to get the results and was given a piece of paper saying 'positivo'!!!!!! I mean, what a waste of time and money.....if I wasnt PG I would be worrying about the size of my boobs!! Huge!!!!

Will see the DR tomorrow who will see me through the PG. Want to talk about an epidural as there dont seem to be ANY forms of pain relief in Italy!! Gulp.

PotPourri · 21/04/2004 12:49

Goodf grief collision, can't believe you had ot pay for a test. I guess each country treats pregnancy differently.

Good news, been feeling better the last day (yesterday & today). My running has really been kicking in and I have a routine now. Just need to make sure I don't injure myself as you really aren't meant to run every day. I;ve restricted myself to 15-20 minutes only. And Jacobs Cream crackers - I would like to kiss Mr Jacob!! I have also found that eating really familiiar foods is helping, stuff my mum used to make when I was little etc. I also got a wire free bra (one black, one quite) by Triumph. I was expecting it to break the bank, but they were £22 each and really comfy. I got fitted properly at Selfridges so know they fit right and are going to last a while. Anyone know just how much boob size is likely to change anyway?

Also, got some maternity jeans out of Argos additions. THey are under tummy elasticated waist and bootlegs. They are so soft and comfy I have them on right now. Would recommend them as they are quite thin so ideal for Summer I'm thinking.

Bunny & Jelly, Glad to hear the scans went well. Bunny, really rooting for you! And I hope you are taking it as easy as you can. Vivie, hope your back has improved

bunny2 · 21/04/2004 17:33

Thanks PP. Are you the first into maternity gear?! I am trying to hold off until I reach 12 weeks but it does limit my wardrobe to one pair of stretchy trousers. Though, as I feel quite sick now I eat about 7 meals a day and holding out till 12 wks is quite optimistic as the pounds are piling on!

Collision, that's a bit of a racket they have there making you do a test and then pay for it!

collision · 21/04/2004 20:39

I know .......what a rip off!! i wouldnt mind but I had forked out 15 euros (£10) for a chemist PG test!! Ah well.....had sunglasses on and a summer dress and sandals on today so I am glad I am here really!

Asked at the drs today about pain relief (I know it is a bit premature but I have heard some terrible stories over here!!) and the hosp I am going to which is brand new is not set up for epidural births yet!!!! ARRRRRGGGHHHHH!! I had one with ds and it was great tho I had to have it cos of Pre eclampsia!!

The only pain relief a friend was offered during labour was to go out for a fag while she was 7cm dilated.......she doesnt even smoke!! I really hope this baby just slips out as I am such a wuss!!

jellycat · 22/04/2004 22:24

Hi folks! It's been quite quiet on here this week...hope everyone's OK.

I'm not going to get any new maternity stuff till after 12 weeks. So far I still fit into most of my clothes which is odd because I remember them feeling very tight quite quickly last time. I expect my tummy will suddenly pop out! Most of maternity stuff is winter weight so I'll probably need some new stuff, although I might be able to borrow from friends.

collision, the sytem in Italy sounds a bit scary! Could you get a tens machine at least? (I thought it worked a bit for me, probably just cos it was distracting me though...and it obviously wasn't enough because I ended up having an epidural).

collision · 23/04/2004 12:47

Jellycat.....am seriously thinking of moving to the UK from Sept til Jan to have the baby!!!!!

Someone said to DH yesterday (who didnt know I was PG) that it looked like I had put a little weight!! She said it was nothing to worry about as i had only put on about 0.5 kilos which is about half a pound!! Silly woman....I have put on about 5lbs already through eating little and often! We arent ready to tell people yet so DH said that it was because I hadnt worked for a while and had put on the extra weight!!

I hate this part of being PG.....when everyone thinks you are fat!!

PotPourri · 23/04/2004 13:08

Oh collision, what a cheeky moo! It is just so rude to say that someone is putting on weight. I can't think of a single situation where it isn't rude! I am looking forward to blooming as I look green around the gills and thick around the middle at the minute!!

Hope everyone is well!

P.S. Chocolate hob nobs are working well on morning sickness (not sure why as chocolate turns my stomach - must be the oats)

collision · 23/04/2004 13:54

PotP

Must tell you about the 1 o'clock club in Isleworth. It is by Redlees Park in Isleworth and very cheap. It is full of Mums with young children and I took ds when he was tiny. Coffee and biscuits, chat, interaction with other mums and set in a lovely garden. Really recommended....it kept me sane when I had ds.

PotPourri · 23/04/2004 17:55

Collision - cool. tHat sounds right up my street. Is it in the sports centre? Just wondering where I can find out about it. And is it every day at 1 or just a few days a week. 20 questions eh?

collision · 24/04/2004 11:00

No, its next to the library. If you go round the back near the car park there is a big garden with a huge gate and it is in there. It is on every day too, I think.

Lilismum · 24/04/2004 16:26

Hi, just wanted to add here that I am due on the 22 of November. Am still in shock as dd is only 11 months so this is a bit of a surprise and am still really getting my head round it.

Been feeling sick the whole time and am terribly tired, could sleep for ever. Had an early scan becuase I've been having a lot of pain and bled for about 2 weeks but everything showed fine on the scan (so far, fingers crossed it stays that way).

Does anyone else here have two babies so close together? I'm v.worried at how I'm going to cope!

MadameButterfly · 24/04/2004 20:54

I have just found out that my SIL is expecting and due on november 3rd.
I will send her an emsil with a lonk to this thread, so hopefully she should be joining you soon.

eidsvold · 24/04/2004 22:58

well I finally have a scan date - fri 30/4 very helpful as I have the day off work anyway - makes life easier although the clinic wanted me to be scanned on the Tuesday instead.... seems they have a set day they prefer you to be scanned on - at least then I will have a better idea of edd.

morning sickness was very bad on thursday - had to leave my classroom and get another teacher to baby sit my class while I went off and had a chuck..

all of us here managed to pick up some bug that is going around - very sore throats, achy joints, temps and headaches - so been a miserable household for a few days... then I managed to do something to the pc and we just got it fixed.....

I have bought maternity clothes but have not worn any yet....

just though I would get some winter clothes for when we get to Aus and anything on sale with an elastic waist that will help for later on.

Glad to see all is well with everyone.

eidsvold · 26/04/2004 19:21

Twinkie - how did the shopping go on the weekend - manage to get some nice clothes??
