so, from my entirely representative group of 6 members of my family and some friends, the people who went off tea in pregnancy all had girls.

any exceptions to this?

I went off tea (and coffee) in all 3 pregnancies. I had 2 boys and a girl.

I usually go off tea in all prgnancies. So far have had one boy and one girl and yet to know what this one is. I did have a cup of Lady Grey yesterday for the first time in months and it was strangely refreshing.

Went off tea big style, just thought of it made stomach churn...was previously a big tea fan (and ama gain now!)...had a boy!

Yes, but one of each, sorry!

colditz · 05/07/2006 10:26

Mum went off tea when she was having me, and has never drunk it since!

bubblez · 05/07/2006 10:29

No I didn't go off tea and I did have a girl.... sorry!! I went off lamb though is that any help?!?! lol

Tatties · 05/07/2006 10:31

Went off tea for the first few months of pg, but had a boy!

Bugsy2 · 05/07/2006 10:43

I went off tea and coffee in both pregnancies and had a boy and a girl.

sugarfree · 05/07/2006 10:47

I went off coffee with ds2 and couldn't get enough tea.I was like an old woman with my cries of "Oooh, stick that kettle on!" I even drank tea at my grandparents wedding anniversary do!
But I didn't go off tea or coffee with ds1 and 3.
(Haven't been able to look at a Big Mac since ds1 though)

I only went off of tea when I was pg with DD, I still managed to get through my 7 or 8 mugs a day with the boys

However I went off it to such an extent with DD that even now I can't drink it. I crave it, but it just tastes wrong. I have to survive on ruddy peppermint tea. I had problems with meat and dairy too, but I was able to eat meat again after she was born, and I could (sort of) handle dairy after I stopped bfing. Girls are weird.

Pinotmum · 05/07/2006 10:53

I went off coffee and onto tea and had a girl. The same applied when I had a boy though.

I went off tea, and yes ... I had a girl. She's five now and I still can't drink tea.

Jasnem · 05/07/2006 11:03

Going off tea is the first sign of pregnancy for me. Two girls and a boy.
Able to drink it as soon as I'd given birth each time ,but drank nothing but water for the whole of each pregnancy.

shhhh · 05/07/2006 11:33

I went off tea and coffee and had a girl. Pregnant now and again off tea and coffee so will see. TBH I think most people go off it as it's your body's way of telling you not to have something that's not good for baby iykwim.

EmmyLou · 05/07/2006 11:49

I went off coffee but drank tea with all 3 pregnancies and have had 3 girls.

franke · 05/07/2006 12:01

I would take more than a pesky pregnancy to make me go off tea and I've had one of each.

babster · 05/07/2006 12:12

I went off tea with both dds, but didn't with ds. Weird!

JanH · 05/07/2006 12:14

I went off normal tea when pg with DD2 but was fine with decaff tea - continued drinking that afterwards so no idea whether normal tea would have been OK with DSs.

Not much help really!

blueshoes · 05/07/2006 12:39

Did not go off tea (or coffee) for both pregnancies. Had a girl, now expecting a boy.

emzickle · 05/07/2006 12:40

I'm 26 pg with a girlie and i cant function with out a cup of tea in the morning, so i guess thats an exception x

Rhubarb · 05/07/2006 12:45

Never really went off anything during pregnancy and I had a girl and a boy.

fuzzywuzzy · 05/07/2006 12:46

No I continued being utterly dependant on my morning cuppa right through both pg..had girls both times

lummox · 05/07/2006 13:04

thanks for all the replies. looks like this test may be as reliable as all the others then!

i didn't go off tea at all with my ds but have done this time, so it may be wishful thinking. it hadn't even occurred to me that i wouldn't fancy tea again after the baby arrives. scary thought.

lol at bubblez btw. was that all lamb? or just chops?
