Open to all elderberry grads and anyone who fits the berry criteria: over 30, 1st to early 2nd trimester(ish) with #1 after trying for a loooong time, and nervous as hell. Come on in for handholding and nub theory!

Can you ask them if they can get the contract ready for when you go in to see them?

Report
Foodylicious · 27/10/2013 11:44

I am guessing its the ward or unit that have asked you to go in ? - if so I would ring HR direct and ask them to send the contract 1st class, explaining that you don't feel right organising start dates and uniform etc without signing it first.

Boomgoestheweasel · 27/10/2013 12:04

Yeah foody it's the ward. My contact at HR is worse than useless, I've directly asked him about 6 times for my contract! Will try again tomorrow. I don't mind going to HR to sign it, I just don't want to go to the ward without being able to tell them if you know what I mean, after all I have to work with these people and I don't want to be dishonest. Hate feeling like I'm being underhanded when I'm just trying to protect myself!

boom I'm 99% sure there's nothing they can do (thinking of the equality act). In an ideal world you should get your contract first but knowing what the nhs is like, it prob won't happen. I'll ask my HR for you tomorrow as I'm in quite close contact with them doing trade union work

Eep - Thunder, you're in Frome?? I went to school there .. Smile
Maybe I'll have to brave this FB group - paranoid about other FB friends finding out, as they haven't all been told yet.

Quiet round here... Did everyone survive the storm? Any scans/appointments this week?

Report
Thundercatsarego · 28/10/2013 08:57

Thought storm was a bit of a anticlimax in the south west anyway. My major headaches seem to be staying away now which is wonderful! Still feeling crap and throwing up occasionally but I can live with that.

Report
CatsCantFlyFast · 28/10/2013 08:59

thunder so glad the headaches have gone. Am so glad my feeling crap has gone, I occasionally feel sick but no actual being sick so you have my sympathy. Are you showing yet?

Report
Boomgoestheweasel · 28/10/2013 09:02

poppy it's a secret group, none of your friends can see what you write in it or any of the updates - safe as houses! unless you accidentally think you're posting in the group and really it's your wall but maybe that's just me

No storm here merk, grotty rainy weather but distinctly underwhelmed at the moment! No scans at the moment, 16wk midwife appt is a week on Thurs..

Thanks kitty, be good to hear what they say. I'm phoning HR in a minute to have a nother whinge at them...

I've been showing for ages but now at the point where I can't hide it. even my baggy blouses have people glancing suspiciously at my stomach. Grr 4 more weeks until I get my permanent contract (fingers crossed) and then I can let it all hang out! And yes, I have also put on weight everywhere else, tried a pair of pre pregnancy jeans on and couldn't get them over my knees. Bra straps are all digging in round my chest and my shoes don't fit!
So maybe Kitty and I are next for scans next Wed

oh, haha, I tried on my favourite jumper this morning. I'd forgotten how short it was - no way I'm keeping my belly warm in that one! in sure I could hide my tiny bump if I could be bothered but I quite like it being almost obvious. I haven't tried to get into anything special yet though. of course I don't need to hide it as everyone in the world knows about me anyway.

Oh goodness merk you're still having to be discreet at work? How come- your boss knows, right?

I have the most comfortable work maternity trousers which I now have two pairs of. My tops still fit as I mostly wear long jersey tops and tunics, but you can see bump and fat sticking through without a doubt.

Report
CatsCantFlyFast · 28/10/2013 10:08

Boss knows but not how far along. And I'm still on a temp contract for the next 4 weeks meaning they could theoretically get rid of me with no notice. So I am trying to be discreet until I have a permanent contract in my hand!

Thundercatsarego · 28/10/2013 11:05

Fair enough! Do they offer maternity pay too?

Just coming on for a mememe whinge, sorry girls. Had a horrible morning, worked until late last night, mr boom woke me at 5 and the dogs wanted to go out by 5.45 so no lie in. Mil wanted to take us for breakfast with SIL, mr boom was horrible to everyone all morning, snapping and being rude for no reason other than he was cranky. I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed that he was behaving so badly, asked him to try and tone it down to which he snapped really nastily at me in front of his mum and sister. Left them on bad terms and then ignored me all the way home while driving like a maniac. He then came upstairs to apologise, I wouldn't accept the apology because he wasn't sorry for acting like a dick, he just doesn't want me to be angry with him. Well tough shit, I'm FUMING that he spoke to his family like that and to me like that in front of them! AIBU? I've taken the car out for a drive because I can't be in the house with him..

Sorry for lengthy grumble! Just needed to have a vent Sad

Doesn't sound like you're bu boom, but what will he have to do to prove he is sorry? Has he said why he was acting like a dick?
Thunder if I get my permanent contract I get maternity pay so FX

Report
Foodylicious · 28/10/2013 12:40

Boom what a t*! I would not accept the apology too quickly, but would not want him feeling bad either.
I think he needs to phone his family and apologise to them too saying he should have not spoken to any of you like that, especially not in front of each other.
Then maybe ask him what is actually going on if this is really out of character for him.

Can you get something nice for lunch and watch a film together this aft? - has he just had enough of his mum (think you said she had stayed the weekend?)
