Hi everyone,

This thread is for all you incessant worriers out there, not necessarily limited to IVF-ers, although I get the feeling the people who have had trouble TTC are more prone to worrying than others!

OP posts:

Re eating crisps -
We are normally a crisp and bread free household, currently we (I) have Disco's, skips, mini cheddars, nik naks and cheese & onion. White bread, crumpets, pan au chocolat, hot cross bun loaf, malt loaf and doughnuts!

onion sorry about your relative and impending funeral. I think children should just wear something nice/smart, but be comfy. Funerals and wakes can be uncomfy enough for children without adding to it by not feeling comfy in themselves or self-conscious if you get what I mean?

Hope you doing ok shazza & keep

scrolling up and down the thread makes me a bit sea sick, so sorry not to say much more Blush

Hello ladies,

My promise to catch up properly last night was scuppered by falling asleep while watching telly on the ipad. I keep telling people that I don't feel tired but maybe I am kidding myself :)

shazza I agree that your mat leave is sounding lovely. Very romantic even! Shazlette watch is in full swing around here.

buzzy so pleased that the scan went well and that you are feeling well cared for. I think it makes all the difference. They were lovely to me at the scan and everyone has been really positive about this being an ivf pregnancy. You sound like things are looking up generally, especially if you're back to work.

keep we got two eggs (from 10 follies) on the first round, one fertilised and a 2 day transfer (BFN). Second cycle got 8 eggs, all fertilised, one put back on day three and two subsequently made it to blast and into the freezer (BFP). Very excited that you are so close! Tearfulness sounds about right. I had a moment in the children's book section of Waterstones looking at all of the beautiful collections of classics that I want to buy already. My child will end up hating reading, won't they?

beetle they measured our sprog several times yesterday because he/she was lying face down. The first few measurements put me at 13+6 rather than 12+2. Once I'd emptied my bladder (only drank a pint but that was too much!) the wee one moved around a bit and they got a better measurement that put me at 12+6. They really can't be too exact so I wouldn't panic when the margins are still so small. I'm tempted to get some of my favourite treats sent from overseas family. At the risk of outing myself, I love dill pickle crisps. MrM thinks they're vile and won't come near me when I eat them Grin.

sweetie well done on the baby growing. A friend had twins each over 6 pounds. It was crazy but wonderful that they were both so big and healthy. Only three more pounds to go to match her!

mrshy snowsuits are so lovely. We'll be doing a family trip to a cold place for the sprog's first christmas I hope so will be needing a properly cozy one.

gin has been ages since you mentioned it but I was surprised to see that we are about the same age and trying for about the same length of time. Can't believe you're so close to the end as well.

dildals brilliant news on Bella's weight gain. You must keep some clothes for her when she's bigger. She'll be fascinated to see how tiny she was.

motor I can't wait to feel movements but I am sure that it gives another cause for stressing. I'm pleased that the mw was able to reassure you.

onions sorry to hear that ringlet is unwell. Typical that that would happen when you're ready to sort out the sleeping. The funeral dilemma is difficult. Dark dresses probably safe.

I'm sure that I have missed people but this is an awfully long post and I am afraid of losing it before I manage to post. Thanks everyone for the good wishes and congratulations. We are so happy now. I know that it is unlikely to last indefinitely but I will enjoy it for now. MrM's 84 year old aunt was over the moon - said it was the best news she and her husband had had for years. I am so hopeful that everyone will be healthy come May. The family has been through a lot in the past few years and I hope we get to celebrate the new arrival together.

ThatWayMadnessLies · 07/11/2013 20:16

Even with that epic post I missed you foody. That sounds like an impressive list of starchy foods Smile. I hope that the nausea goes soon.

SweetieTime · 07/11/2013 20:37

Madness the maize based snacks have kept a lot of us going. I preferred cheesy poofs and salt n vinegar chip sticks. I also craved quavers in my first trimester but then went off them just as quickly as my craving arrived.

Beetle if the Dr was worried about the difference in DTs he would have you back sooner to keep a close eye on things. I think it is quite common for twins to measure differently and as has been said the measurements are so small it hard for them to be 100% accurate.

Onions I agree what everyone else says, dress DDs in clothes you already have. I would try have them smart, I like the sound of angel wings or cat tail to spice up DD1 outfit. Hope Ringlet get better very soon, poor little love.

Shazza I love reflexology, I had it throughout my TTC years and from mid pregnancy. I intend to continue weekly now until DTs arrive. Give it another couple of weeks and I will see what she can do to get things moving before induction date.

Keep I am also an emotional wreck at the moment. I cried at the kids singing the remembrance song on the One Show last night.

DH was asking me earlier how I would know if I was in labour. As if I know, I am just hoping I will know. I am sure I will be able tell as Fairy did, it is not as if I will be taken by surprise. I think DH is worried he will get home from work one day and the twins will have arrived, I have told him this is very unlikely. Bless him.

Buzzybee123 · 07/11/2013 21:20

foody I am putting on my coat right now and coming round to yours for a feast :)

onion Barry and I know what will happen to our remains when we die, we cannot decide what will happen to minibee should we both die Hmm its no the greatest of conversation topics.
I wish I could stay part time bu worry they will cut my pay down, so a few more days part time and hen we shall see what happens

keep It just worked out that I would have my GD test, scan and MW appointment all in the same week, right now our cat is being very clingy, especially to Barry, I like the idea of everyone else in my nct having their babies first and at the same place, I shall glean them for info

fairy your baby name is now back on our list Grin

sweetie I am wiping tears of laughter off my face at your DHs query as to how you will know you are in labour! Grin it might be a bit ambiguous while it gets established but there is no fecking way you could be mistaken once it is "active labour". Although I know there are a few women who have painless contractions and don't know they are in labour they are pretty unusual!

onion I wouldn't expect children at a funeral to be wearing black but I would be impressed at their mother's organisational skills if they were.

foody love the carbo loading at your house. Bland carbs were all I could eat during my first trimester. Scrolling also made me feel sick too.

buzzy yay to more baby Xs! Such a lovely name, IMHO.

shazza I had an upset stomach before labour with both of mine but with DS it was the day before and with DD it was a few days before. Exciting!

Right, going to grab a shower whilst Pangolina is still snoring away.

putthecrispsDOWN · 08/11/2013 08:27

beetle try not to worry, my two have always been a few days apart in measurements and the docs ave always said that it is probably due to the position of the baby and the margin of error on the equipment. My consultant said when theynmeasure the abdomen, for example, if a baby is stretched out then the measurement will be thinner than if they are curled up, which seemed to make sense. If you look on the mutliple births thread (in parenting rather than pregnancy) there are some reassuring threads if you go back a bit. It is high risk and there are some really tragic stories, myself and others here included, but while things are going well and the docs are happy I hope we can help you stay positive.

foody high five on your cupboard of snacks, that would last at least a day here I think.

keep and others I'm a bit emotionally dead so not too tearful but definitely more sentimental during pg. when I had DD i took a photograph of my washing line with all her teeny clothes on it and my mum thought I was bonkers and asked why. I explained that when we were ttc I used to drive past other people's houses with their lovely children-clothes filled washing lines and feel really jealous and down...it was probably the first time she realised that ttc could actually be upsetting (she is a complete instadiffer and of the 'just relax' school of infertility sympathy, although quite lovely too)

onion sorry about the funeral. I think any relatively smart clothes wd be fine for your dcs, hope you manage to find something you feel comfortable in. How is the cc going? We are praying for better sleepers than dd was, I remember the trauma of never sleeping far too well.

shazza ANY NEWS? Just like to be the first of the day to bellow at you....

putthecrispsDOWN · 08/11/2013 08:30

Oh and beetle where do you live? Y family are in Australia and I spend a horrendous amount posting random foodstuffs out there...it cost me a tenner to post a six pack of salt and vinegar hula hoops out to my fourteen year old sister the other week (carb crack addicition is clearly genetic!)

keepitgoing · 08/11/2013 09:11

fairy what are you on about? I'm hoping I'll sleep through early labour, then wake up thinking I need a poo and that'll be it!...

sweetie I'm worried I'll call dh back from work, start his paternity leave clock, and then find out it was fake labour, or that it goes on for days with no baby...

shaz what's new with you? ;)

Induction policy here is 40+11, so you'll be in labour by 42 weeks. I'm hoping that since we have ivf babies and know our dates that we are less likely to go over. If I went by my 12 week scan I'd be 6 days ahead of what I really am.

keepitgoing · 08/11/2013 09:14

beetle my dh brought me back a 12 pack of beef monster munch when we lived in Thailand a few months back. The scanner people were Hmm Are you in SA? A brave man cooked pap on masterchef the professionals last night - got kicked off... (I used to live in east Africa, not a fan...)

keepitgoing · 08/11/2013 09:15

Not a fan of mealie pap, I mean. Love east afr

fairypangolin · 08/11/2013 10:24

Looking back at my post re knowing you are in labour, it sounds a little insensitive- my experience is only of "normal" full term labour of course. Along with the contractions (which started out feeling like period pains only they came and went) I had a constant "show" eg loss of bloody mucous (sorry TMI) that meant I must be in labour. Your DH needn't worry, sweetie although I was also afraid of calling my DH back from work in London and it turning out to be a false alarm.

Just caught part of Woman's Hour on Radio 4 and it was about IVF. Apparently a big new study has shown no link between IVF and increased risk of childhood cancer. Will have to listen again when I have a minute.

SweetieTime · 08/11/2013 10:42

fairy my DH doesn't know what is going to hit him, he only work 15 min drive from home so there is no worry that he will miss the big event. He was whinging that he might have to sleep in a chair if labour goes on a bit - he will be wearing the bloody chair if he complains at the time I can tell you.

There was an article on the front of one of the Sunday heavies about IVF preventing survival of the fittest principle. I was too incensed to buy it from the headline. I don't suppose anyone else saw it?

crisps I took a picture of our washing line filled with teeny tiny babygros and vests when I washed everything a few weeks ago. I just couldn't resist after thinking I would never get this far.

Foodylicious · 08/11/2013 12:07

Hi, just a question. I know we are not meant to use rosemary essential oil but what about rosemary in cooking? I wad going to make cheese and rosemary scones. Am I being silly or sensible to worry?

keepitgoing · 08/11/2013 13:03

I think you're being silly there foody Grin they sound yummy!

Just bought myself some raspberry leaf tea...

Foodylicious · 08/11/2013 16:42

They are in the oven and they smell gooood!

Back from docs, some ketones in wee but not too much (I didn't think I was likely to be really dehydrated as I am keeping alot of stuff down) without me having to ask she started looking up what meds I could have if I wanted some. said I wasn't sure, but have left with a prescription for promethazine. Not got it in stock in the pharmacy so I will get it tomorrow. Bit of a tricky one - I have manged for 3 weeks so could manage longer, or have been sick every day for 3 weeks so would be nice to stop!
She was really nice, asked if I wanted sick note extending for 1, 2 or more weeks. I said just 1 for now.
Scones out the oven and looking good. Must resisit urge to eat whilst too hot and burn my tongue!

Buzzybee123 · 08/11/2013 17:00

foody i bought a rosemary plant today, love the smell, don't suffer with the sickness, the best thing my gp gave me was Metoclopramide for the sickness, its great and omeprazole for the bad indigestion

sweetie I bet that is an adorable photo

shaz and keep no baby news yet

second day at work down, thank goodness its Friday Hmm I have managed to score some free stuff off my work colleague too

OP posts:
keepitgoing · 09/11/2013 17:56

Er, has there been any news shaz? :)

foody of course you've managed but doesn't mean you have to keep managing? Try the meds for a few days, esp if you're trying to go back to work. You can always stop again.

buzz is

Oh god think waters just broke

MrsHY1 · 09/11/2013 18:16
