Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/11/2013 11:38

Only 22 weeks Black Im hoping to hold out till the end of Jan! Confused
Im even more pissed off now, my boss I is being all stupid because I had to point out he messed up my wages! Hmm We have to eat FGS!
Shell think "Soft and squishy cervix"! Grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/11/2013 11:42

All I saw when I watched that advert was Water ship Down type animation. Gave me the willies!

IBelieveInPink · 11/11/2013 11:56

Saggy!!! I'm so glad it's not just me that is creeped out by water ship down! Honestly had nightmares about that film!

Ooh shell, let us know how it goes. I've decided I will request beg for a sweep tomorrow at my appointment. Bit early, but you don't ask you don't get!

BumpKitty · 11/11/2013 11:57

Right I will watch the ad again, I'm not normally dense, perhaps my brain has dissolved in too many hormones.

saggy hope your boss sorts himself out you should get paid extra for impromptu tyre changes not less!

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 12:23

Saggy hope you get that sorted. I can't imagine having an active outside job with hip pain, it sounds miserable :(

shell so glad you are feeling better! hope you get a bit of rest and respite before the big event now. Thanks for your tips. I really don't feel ready for crutches and being housebound yet. It was from 28 wks last time and that felt long enough, so hoping to keep struggling for another month at least to work. And have a girls day out planned on Friday for Christmas shopping and afternoon tea so NOTHING is going to stop me even if I do have to take a darn crutch to hobble on.

Thank you for description of JL ad, it had entirely befuddled me also, I was like 'what's up with the bear?' much prefer the snowman effort of last year, and rather enjoying the m&s fairytale one this year.

Feel I'm failing DD a bit at the moment. She hit me on Saturday and when we put her in time out she spent the whole time howling 'I don't want a baby'. We hadn't even been talking about the baby.

shellsocks · 11/11/2013 13:15

bump back pain could be a sign that things are starting, hope so! Do you have an induction date/plan yet?

pink good luck getting a sweep, my 'rules' have changed since I had DS and you can now only have one a week...I was in and out last time trying Grin

pixie just do as little as possible/wear the belt etc. and you may be lucky Smile

So had my first ever successful sweep (had 4 attempts with DS but they were never able to do one) and all I can say is OUCHShock!

Baby is no further engaged than last appt (2/5) but am 1cm dilated and cervix is thinning etc. Baby is in best position too which after a B2B labour last time was music to my ears Grin Lets hope things start now Smile

She inspected my piles Blush the shame Blush was so upsetting but at least I've shared my worries now abt labour etc. and I feel better cos she wasn't in the least bit fazed Smile

IBelieveInPink · 11/11/2013 13:27

Aw fab news shell. Glad you could get something done, must feel like progress. Hopefully will get something moving!
Well done for being brave too - must be nice she wasn't at all fazed - has clearly seen worse :)

GardenWorm · 11/11/2013 13:50

Good for you Shell Grin COME ON WHELK!

Pixie I have one of those. We all went out and she picked a babygrow for her little brother/sister, I washed it and showed it to her and said about how lovely it was that she bought it blah blah blah...she went nuts, insisted that she wore it when she was a baby and does NOT WANT TO SHARE!!!!!! Oh dear.

Oh and that JL ad cost £7mil!!!!! Plus I prefer Keanes original to Lilly Allens but that's by the by Smile

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 14:03

£7 mill!!! Shock How???

garden it's crap isn't it. you know you're doing them a massive favour producing a sibling but at the same time their outrage makes you feel like you're being super selfish and inflicting competition on their perfect little world. This isn't helped by my left over childhood angst about my position at mummy's little girl being usurped by my younger sister Grin I totally relate to where they're coming from!! Blush

Bakingtins · 11/11/2013 14:05

I don't know if it might help those with sibling rivalry issues but "Katie Morag" on CBeebies has a pregnant mum and there has been lots of talk about how they won't love Katie any less and how she'll have a playmate once the baby grows up a bit. might be worth sticking on the telly?

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 14:35

Ah tins we watched it yesterday Smile love Katie Morag books and think they've done the series lovely. Think that episode bears a few more viewings and discussions with DD! SIL has also bought 3 or 4 books about having a baby as part of DD Christmas but wondering about getting them out a bit early.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/11/2013 15:09

Pixie take all of your having a new baby anxiety, I bet you have it, I know I did and project that onto a little one who doesn't really understand! its hard for them. They come round though, they just have to adjust whrn the baby gets here. DS regressed a bit in development terms when DD arrived, but it was just an attention thing. We made a big fuss of him and he was ok. We taught him how to ring nanny he was 3 and he used to ring her for a chat when he got humpty! Grin

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 15:58

saggy that's so cute. Bless him Smile Yes poor love is probably absorbing all the anxiety radiating off me (there's plenty!) as well as her own. I know it's super hard, I'm just not sure how to make it all better. Am doing my best to make sure we get a lot of Mummy and DD time and not actively discussing baby much as it's still so far off, although wonder if DH has been and maybe that's what triggered Saturday. Hmmm.

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 11/11/2013 16:52

oh it must be tough if you have a non co operative little one already...i'm worrying enough about how my cat will react never mind a little human. good luck all!

good sweepage shell! fx it does the business!

bumo - i hope the back pain has develped into something more productive :)

i was n argos earlier and the lady on the till was chatting away and i told her i was due a week on saturday, she reckons i'm very low and doesn't think i'll make it until my due date! eek! she was lovely though, and said i had to come in and see her once the baby was born!

my pre baby fun day was lovely, no baby presents and lots of cake and girly chat! just what i wanted!! i did get some treats for me which was really thoughtful, lovely body scrubs and lotions and chocolate :)

Polka2 · 11/11/2013 16:54

Well done Shell for sharing your dark secret, least you know no-ones going to gasp in horror Wink hope you're feeling more human now!

Ladies waiting to pop, I really hope all sweeps and other remedies are going the trick! I've heard loads of people rave about acupuncture or reflexology for hurrying things along.

The JL ad cost £7million?' Really?!? Crazy world and its not nearly as good as last years IMHO

I hadn't letter back following my combined nuchal at 1 in 2851 which is top banana seeing as I'm 37 and husband is super steely on radical action if I was high risk (which I am not) so phew!

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 17:00

polka that's such good news, you must be very relieved Smile

janie sounds like you had a fab non baby shower day - how lovely for you! It sounds like you are having a lovely last couple of weeks, hooray for Cake

IBelieveInPink · 11/11/2013 17:28

I know we only chatted about this a week or so ago, but I've forgotten already. What's everyone doing about nursing bras? Are they essential? Do I need to get one?
I've read some reviews that seem to suggest the bravado one- which appeals as you don't need to know size, just small medium or large. Does this mean it is crap? Any recommendations?
Thanks!!

Pentagon · 11/11/2013 18:24

fab news shell - glad you're appointment went well and you're feeling a little bit better! Come on baby, we're all waiting for you! Same for little bump!

janie it sounds like you had a lovely girly day! And let's see if the Argos lady is right!!

ibip I'm also creeped out by water ship down Confused

saggy respect for changing that tyre! I hope your boss sorts out your payment soon

pixie and garden - some jealousy is inevitable I guess. I read somewhere recently that the best present you can give your child is a sibling. I know it's hard for the first born initially but they adjust and they will have a playmate when they're a little bit older

polka congratz on the good results!

anda that's so cute about Prince Charles (my mum has the exact same birthday as him i.e. same year) and the invitation to the palace Smile

I haven't even seen the JL advert...but I love the M&S one!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 11/11/2013 18:36

pink i got measured in debenhams...i got a maternity bra there before and was a 38d...the 38 is still the same but the recommended going for a 38dd - basically so you can fit a fist in it for becoming a bit dolly parton-esque once the milk comes in. i managed to get some in a local department store that were in the sale for £3 each which was pretty lucky. i think they seem really useful..just unclip at the strap and attach the little'un without having to hoik your boob out over or under!

Pixielady83 · 11/11/2013 19:09

I'm wearing my nursing bras from last time already since I out grew my last round of mat bras, does that mean I'll need more nursing ones? I was hoping these ones would do! didn't experience boob expansion last time as milk never really came in but even if they do expand a lot, don't they settle afterwards, in which case wouldn't you be left with v saggy bras?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 11/11/2013 19:52

I haven't bought any nursing bras yet, but can I offer some experience from the depths of the past...Wink
All of mine had zips where you undid the cup around the bottom and lopped out a boob. Don't go for this sort! When you're trying to zip yourself back up in the silent half asleep watches of the night, and you zip your breast into the zipper, it bloody hurts! Confused The release the clip sort are MUCH better! Grin

Penguinita · 11/11/2013 19:57

Ooh, there are some promising signs, I sense a new thread baby arriving imminently!

Respect to saggy for changing a tyre in the cold with a bump. I couldn't change one in the warm without a bump and with an instruction book! I thought that was what DHs were for... (Oops that might be a bit sexist)

I have some sympathy for the soon to be siblings, when my mum brought my little sister home for the first time I told her to "put it back in the bag" Grin

One week to go until my dating scan. I had to tell my new boss at work today as he wanted me to do a transatlantic business trip, but I've decided no more flying in this pregnancy. He was very good about it, thank goodness.

Can I ask when the first trimester symptoms start to ease off? I've been sleeping better and feeling less sick the last couple of days which worries me a bit, but I also read the placenta starts to take over around this time (11-12 weeks).

GardenWorm · 11/11/2013 20:03

Priceless Saggy! I have never seen any zip ones, maybe health and safety saw sense?!

Pink I am desperately trying to remember what I did first time, think I bought a couple prior to the big event and then once we had success I bought some more. If you aren't sure and want to save cash it's not impossible to do without and then order online or buy a week after baby is born once you know you will definitely be bf. On the boob front, first time mums has it been mentioned to you that your boobs will have a life of their own? Leaking when a baby (or sheep in the field next to us) cries and when you get in the shower?! Just a heads up Grin

Thanks for the sibling tips, love the teaching to use the phone but just worried about who she may ring! Ha Ha!

Not sure why the ad was 7 mil, but Fearne Cotton said it on the radio this morn so it must be true! She did joke that most of it probably went to Lilly Allen....

GardenWorm · 11/11/2013 20:06

Sorry Penguin cross post - am I going to have to remove all bags from the house too? Grin

Glad your boss was positive. My symptoms went around the same time so don't worry, as you say the placenta takes over x

IBelieveInPink · 11/11/2013 20:10

Haha! Thanks all, I may just buy one for now, and see how we get on with that one. Bras are already a little snug now, so if any massive expansion goes on we will have a serious overflow situation.
And garden - will avoid sheep at all costs!! ;)
