Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

oh my goodness, some people are sooooooo rude...and ignorant. Have they all had it so easy when it comes to children? All planned and conceived when convenient, with no miscarriage or misfortune? It makes me so angry. In the past week, I've found out that 2 friends of mine have had a miscarriage each, which made me incredibly sad. I knew one of them was going to try in the summer and I assumed the other one would be trying as she got married about a year ago but of course I didn't dare ask after what happened to me (and many others I know). So more confirmation that miscarriage is incredibly common Sad

saggy what a daft comment!! By the way, what does DFONTAD mean?

Welcome bumble and congratulations! We all know how you feel and hopefully we can help you get through the dreaded first trimester

garden I'm due at the very end of October (original due date 31st which then changed to the 28th) and I'm ashamed to admit I haven't packed my bag yet! I'm convinced the baby will be late but I'll probably eat my words (and have to pack in a panic, while in labour) I've just spent my first week of maternity leave cleaning and tidying up - my mum arrives on Sunday to help us sort out the house and of course be here when the baby arrives. We still have lots of things to do (the baby room isn't ready, DD's new room isn't ready, the loft isn't ready) I guess that's why I'm not prepared for an early arrival...

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 12/10/2013 10:26

Congrats on the great scans and helloooo to the new girls :)

Thanks again for all the welcome backs to my big cat, he hadn't gone further than about 3 metres from the back door since wee brought him home Smile

People's comments and opinions are crazy. My SIL is due in feb with her 2nd and her bump is beginning to take over mine. She has had some really horrible comments about her size from work colleagues and is quite upset. I have found that usually people are oozing with jealousy so it often makes them feel better to pass cruel judgement.

Garden I bought a few 'bits' for my hospital bag...just things like a toothbrush and breast pads and maternity pads. Still don't know what I'll wear during labour, thinking light tracky bottoms and a vest then if I get a water birth I'll bring a tankini. However I might gather a few boys over the weekend and try to have them all in one place even if they aren't packed! Eek 6 weeks to go!!!

GuffSmuggler · 12/10/2013 11:00

a few boys Janie, is this your gang of helpers for labour? Grin

Tomkat79 · 12/10/2013 11:17

That's really tickled me janie like sitting here letting out a loud shrieking giggle! Well spotted guff Grin

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 12/10/2013 11:20

hahahahaha!!!! yes my army of hot men to massage my feet and give me sips of water and feed me grapes!!! isn't everyone planning the same?!?!?! i'm sure i read about it somewhere! haha!

Tomkat79 · 12/10/2013 11:23

Now you're talking! Hold the whale music and scented candles...didn't someone on here mention dtd in labour not so long ago? I've suddenly changed my mind Wink

fod27 · 12/10/2013 11:36

Hi girls, not sure what I've missed but as for the colleagues and rude comments I have recently been to my union rep as it's discrimination in the work place (I have also been overlooked for a permanent contract because I'm pregnant) I'm outraged and intend to take it all the way ..... BASTARDS the lot of them!!!

IBelieveInPink · 12/10/2013 13:44

Janie - that's what I've missed for my hospital bag! :)

I'm afraid I am one of those super organised crazys who has everything ready. I haven't yet done my 'list of last minute items' to go on top of my bag- and it is stressing me out!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 12/10/2013 13:47

In labour I wore a nightie for easy access, lol!

Love your army of boys to help in labour!! (images in my mind....)

IBelieveInPink · 12/10/2013 14:48

I know a nightie would be the best and most practical thing to wear. But they creep me out! I can't bring myself to wear one! Any other suggestions for alternatives? At the moment I'm thinking a longer length vest top and leggings (until critical moment) is my best option? Or, having not been through this before, is there something here I'm missing?

GardenWorm · 12/10/2013 15:05

Janie do you often gather boys over a weekend? I think it may be illegal! Men on the other hand .....Priceless! Grin

Pink with DD I had my track suit bottoms and a maternity fitted t-shirt on when I went to hospital. The bottoms were removed almost immediately (and stayed off) for an examination and I didn't see the point in changing the top. I didn't really care tbh that I was half naked, as my mum would say 'they've seen it all before'! I would say though that I ended up throwing the top away as it got a bit 'messy' so don't buy anything special for the occasion. If you are hoping for a water birth they do say to wear something fitted or the material floats around getting in the way. I have a maternity tanking but won't be wearing it as will prob need it for dd's swimming lessons for a bit after the big push (if it's not over stretched by then)

Glad to hear there are others unprepared! Really must make some effort though!

Fod that sounds like hell. Not what you need. Try not to let them get to you. X

Oh and I can't remember who posted the Christmas bargain thread way back but I've been following it and it all kicked off yesterday. Some people are seriously pathetic!

Bodicea · 12/10/2013 16:44

Pink what about a wrap dress? good for easy access for skin to skin contact post delivery too. A lots of places do speciality labour wrap dresses but they are a tad expensive but I don't see why a Norma one wouldn't do x

fod27 · 12/10/2013 18:11

pink I ended up doing it in the buff! I felt dead hot and sick and in the end my clothes became another frustration so I whipped them off and got on with it hahaaaaa

IBelieveInPink · 12/10/2013 18:58

Ooh bod - like the idea of a wrap dress if I can find a cheap one. Damn, should have thought of this in the summer!
Fod - I'm not really a nakie kinda person - although this may all change when I actually get to it, I can't imagine I will ever be happy being that 'free'!!
:)

BlackholesAndRevelations · 12/10/2013 20:19

Yeah I'd just say the leggings are a no no as there's no way they'll stay on very long. First time I was wearing a long tunic top and leggings when I rocked up at the delivery suite. Removed leggings and just stayed in the tunic! It kind of covered stuff perhaps but I didn't give a monkeys, plus they were very good at draping a sheet over me if necessary to keep a small semblance of dignity! The nightie second time was waaaay better as it opened at the front for the skin to skin/breastfeeding, whereas the top was a mission to try and drag off and left me naked (though again, personally didn't care!)

Ps freaked out by nighties?! Lol!! Grin

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 12/10/2013 20:38

I gave birth in dhs t-shirt both times. I took my trackki bottoms off for an examination and didn't see the point of putting them back on again (they were coming back to examine me)
I really didn't care I was more interested in pain management than covering up! The (lovely) midwife a kept me covered tho even when I kicked sheets off they still put them back before anyone 'new' came into the room!

LuckySocks13 · 12/10/2013 20:46

No bag packed here either! Am hoping for a home birth though. Last time I have birth I think I ended up naked! I started wearing a long t shirt / night shirt bit got to hot so just took it off. I'm normally so body conscious bit at the time didn't give a monkeys! Ended up with about 8 people in the room at one point too! All dignity is gone after having a baby! Lol :D

LuckySocks13 · 12/10/2013 20:48

Janie- you really made me laugh about the boys :)

U had a pregnancy massage yesterday as its my Birthday tomorrow. It was divine. Highly recommend one. It's a weekend of 34 here. 34 tomorrow and 34 weeks pregnant!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 12/10/2013 20:54

Aw lucky that's awesome! I turned 30 when I was 30 weeks with ds Smile Flowers

BlackholesAndRevelations · 12/10/2013 20:55

Happy birthday for tomorrow too!!

Tomkat79 · 12/10/2013 21:18

pink honestly I really don't think you'll give two hoots about who sees what and when. Labour is weird...the things I planned to do went totally out the window, ended up being very body led if that makes sense and you have to really trust yourself. I wore a baggy t shirt which ended up on the floor during transistion I think as it pissed me off lol.

Have been watching live birth videos on YouTube. One woman had an unassisted birth in a creek...she wanted it as natural as possible. I am not watching anymore ever. They're very graphic!

LuckySocks13 · 12/10/2013 22:35

Thank you Blackholes :)
Birth in a creek! Wow that's different!

Tomkat79 · 12/10/2013 22:58

She laboured in an outside bath tub for a while and then moved her whole little family (all nude) to the water where she had her daughter number 4. All very surreal and brave if you ask me, but very as nature intended.

MeDoingMyThing · 12/10/2013 23:35

pink - I didn't think I was a naked person until first birth when I had to transfer from home to hospital. Ambulance folk tried to cover me up for transfer and I got mighty annoyed and refused. Ended up with a stand off of them refusing to help me move until I put something on!

Cut I number 2 where I gave birth in a black nightdress from mothercare which was nicer than it sounds. But really, you don't care about what you wear. As for anything on your bottom half, for me I wanted to be as easy access as possible. Did not want to have to struggle to remove anything in the midst of a contraction. Don't forget labour suites are hot places too. But do take socks for the cold and shakey transition part.
