Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

I'm the penguin Grin ! Quite a different shape and texture to a pentagon!

Hi emki , so pleased you decided to come and join us! How are your week 6 symptoms going? I've felt nauseous for three days now, I'm delighted, this didn't happen last time around.

fod you need to be careful with shoulder pain as it can be linked to an ectopic. But I'm guessing you have already had a scan and everything is where it should be?

Emki · 05/10/2013 21:10

Hi penguin ((((waves frantically back))) yes nausea has started - but not much yesterday or today - so now fretting about that. However I know that symptoms don't necessarily mean that all is fine so trying not to worry ... Grin

How are you doing? any other symptoms or anything? Hope you're doing well x

LuckySocks13 · 05/10/2013 21:15

What's strep B? I'm 33 weeks today and don't think I've been tested. Am planning a home birth and bit worried now.

LuckySocks13 · 05/10/2013 21:17

I don't think I'm going to have the flu jab. I've not really read into yet though. Know one has mentioned it to me at all. I'd like to research to benefits and risks first.

fod27 · 05/10/2013 21:21

Thanks ladies it's gone off now, but it's started somewhere else! All bone related... I've decided I'm an alien!

tom I was under the impression that age was the only factor in testing, I'm 30 and a ex smoker (very heavy smoker) and my MW wasn't concerned about testing - but as I've said before she is also a shit MW.... I was trying to be helpful then I promise lol they can pick it up in your bloods tho and you could go from there

fod27 · 05/10/2013 21:22

penguin yes the scan showed everything as normal - well that way anyway

buntingisme · 05/10/2013 21:23

lucky, its not something that is routinely tested for. Its complicated but its a bug type thing that lives inside your vigina, amonst other places, that actually does no harm. it comes and goes so one week you might have it and the next you might not. although its not harmful to an adult, its very harmful to a newborn, hense the 4 hourly antibiotics to stop baby chatching it once waters have gone. Unless you are having frequent urine infections and having a lot of discharge its nothing to worry about. If you really are worried speak to your midwife about it, she'll be able to talk to you about what it is and what it means

buntingisme · 05/10/2013 21:27

oops I name changed to ask a question on the baby name boards and cba to name change back! (on netbook so have to do it manually)
but a certain tv channel is my whole existance

GuffSmuggler · 05/10/2013 21:34

Yay EMKI great to see you here, congratulations Grin

I had the flu jab today, queued up with the elderly and infirm Hmm

I get it every year anyway, but definitely wouldn't risk not getting it when PG with a weak immune system. There was a tragic thread on here a while ago where someone had a late loss due to catching flu Sad For me it's just not worth the risk.

Tomkat79 · 05/10/2013 21:46

fod glad pain eased up.

I thought it was all age related but for the purpose of the complete screen and to get your accurate risk factor they take into account your bmi and smoking status. Something to do with titrating bloods I think. Anyway...wasn't happy about that and suddenly felt v guilty about amount of carbs I consume and the fact that I was partial to a roll up!

Tomkat79 · 05/10/2013 21:48

Jury's out with me and the flu jab...so many different strains. Nice dead arm for you then this evening guff!

fod27 · 05/10/2013 21:57

Oooooo tom a roll up with a menthol tip mmmmmmmmmmmm after a chip butty!!!!

Tomkat79 · 05/10/2013 22:12

Oooh fod on the back step late at night haha

Penguinita · 05/10/2013 22:24

emki my only other symptoms are a bit of tiredness and slightly sore boobs. They have gone a weird shape today too - think Madonna in her cone bra - I reckon they could shoot down passing aeroplanes Grin

GardenWorm · 05/10/2013 22:47

Thanks for the asthma tips peeps. It's not a prego thing, it's something that I've had for yonks but much to my DH's irritation have ignored. It just seems to have got a lot worse with this pg and I thought it was time to do something about it. Think I've worked out what triggered my midnight bout; I keep getting bad indigestion and read something about the acid reflux in pregnancy irritating the oseophagus(sp?!) and making the asthma flare up and when I thought about realised I woke with indigestion. Will be Gavisconing up tonight before bed and taking my inhaler with me. Glad to hear it gets better after pg!

Fod hope you are feeling better
Janie hope your cat comes home soon

xxx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 05/10/2013 23:31

Pentagon it was me mentioned group B strep. I tested positive last year and had some major antibiotics. It comes from the bowel, and many many people have it and don't ever know. As a PP said, it can come and go and it can very harmful to a newborn.
There is lots of info here This GBS website provides details of labs who do the test from 35-37 weeks, it costs £35. Some NHS trusts will do the test, but not many. I am going to pay for the test when the time comes.

Pentagon · 06/10/2013 00:06

thanks saggy! Looking at the website now - very useful

Angloamerican · 06/10/2013 02:44

I'm getting the flu shot on Monday. To be honest, I think it's crazy to take a risk during flu season with the compromised immune systems we have at the moment. But each to their own...

LuckySocks13 · 06/10/2013 08:01

Knowine has mentioned the flu jab at all. If we giving birth in November do we need it still. Will try speak to my midwife next week

IBelieveInPink · 06/10/2013 09:20

I've had an appointment through for flu jab - one week before baby day. Is this sensible? Happy to have the jab a just so close to baby coming?

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 06/10/2013 09:48

i am getting the flu jab on wednesday. i asked the nurse when was the best time to get it and she said you could get it the morning you give birth if you wanted so no time too soon or too early really. i got the last one in february and can't remember any side effects so hopefully this one will be the same!

GardenWorm · 06/10/2013 11:35

Had my flu jab last week, no side effects. Had it in last pg too. I'd say have it whenever you can, it's not something you'd want after babies here let alone before.

GuffSmuggler · 06/10/2013 13:32

saggy thanks for the info on group b strep, I can't believe they don't test for it!? Will def look into it.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 06/10/2013 13:59

Can't believe I forgot to welcome bakingtins back to the thread!! So happy for you and hopeful xxx

MissMedusa · 06/10/2013 14:34

I'm definitely going for a flu-shot as well. I've never had one before but I've, more or less, been sick since I conceive this baby (was even sick when I conceived) and I'm getting tired of it. I take it it's safe, even in the first trimester?
