Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:

Garden I'm asmatic and find that from aroun week 20 o the end I have to have my inhaler to hand constantly. It gets better as soon as pregnancy is over. They can't diagnose you because it could just be pregnancy and the baby squishing your lungs

BlackholesAndRevelations · 05/10/2013 07:57

Hi all, just caught up with the last 12 pages or so!! Great news on the scans cbeebies, blackberry and kat! Grin

Hi anda, your girls are indeed beautiful! I'm not surprised you're tired though. Maybe dh could help sometimes so that you don't fizzle out! There's no harm in reading up about a routine, and picking and choosing what works for you. I really rate the baby whisperer and she helped me in the early days with my first born as I was confusing sleepy cues with hungry cues and getting in a right tizz! Grin I'm sure you're way past that stage though and doing just fab xx

saggy- best of luck in getting your dh on board and to ignore his bloody mother Hmm I'm also pleased all looks manageable with the heart defect. Hugs xx

BlackholesAndRevelations · 05/10/2013 07:59

Oops, I mean your dh could help with night feeds

pentagon happy maternity leave!!! i'm making a little to do list of nice things which mainly involves cinema, treats, hair cut, cooking, massage, and a sky+ box full of trashy movies. oh and i might buy a steam cleaner and blast the shit outta this place. hopefully the strep b isn;t too much of a worry - i have no clue about it but they can control it in the hospital so you;ll be in god hands.

thank you all so so much for your well wishes for my big furbaby. he has never wandered before, ever. he's 11 and i've had him for 8yrs, so he really is a big part of my life (which will sound sad to non cat people!) he never doesn't come home for tea and is such a mummys boy. not sure what else we can do but wait...we've done all the phoning round, flyering, posters and knocked on all the doors etc and everyone seems to know him as the 3 legged ginger guy that chats to everyone as the walk past the driveway. it's the not knowing that is the most destressing. if he had been in an accident i would have to just come to terms with it, but i keep thinking i see him at the back door or in the garden...but normally its just an old orange leaf blowing past :( sorry for hijacking the thread with pussycat chat. you lovely cat people are the bestest xxx

tins your wee dcat2 does sound a little ungrateful!! but at least he seems happy wherever he may be!

ps you guys were up late / up early last night! was there an online party i didn't know about!!

Bodicea · 05/10/2013 08:46

Pentagon · 05/10/2013 09:44

thanks Janie Smile I have a lot of cleaning and tidying up to do (the house is a mess after the loft conversion) but will try to do something nice/for myself once a day!

I really hope your cat turns up soon!

I think someone else mentioned having Group B Strep on this thread, don't remember who it was...if you have any info, please let me know!

Bodicea · 05/10/2013 09:55

Garden I have asthma but recently they (the Dr) have given me a tube that connects to my brown inhaler (I use two pumps in the morning and two in the evening) the pump is designed to control your breathing. Once you press the inhaler down the medicine is released into the tube (this helps to make it more effective) you then have to breathe it in slowly -otherwise it starts to make a squealing noise, this also helps you to concentrate on your breathing and to slow everything right down. Also take your inhaler to bed with you. I have one on mi night stand just in case, then I put it in my handbag for the day ahead cxxx hope that helps cxxx

ChristineDaae · 05/10/2013 10:56

Hi all, just checking in after holiday. Loads to read and catch up on! Tins, good to see you back Grin
Pentagon, I had group strep B in my first pregnancy. What do you need to know?

TeaAndANatter · 05/10/2013 11:14

Garden I have asthma too, but only need it before I go for a run, so that's never these days! Don't recall it getting worse previous pregs, but can't remember.

Taking back my ranting about late scanning - got my letter today, it was dated a week ago, but held in post obviously. Going for 12 week scan at 12+3, so very chuffed with that, on Wednesday. Off to drum my fingers for a bit on the kitchen table. Great news is Weds is the day that DH (who works in Scotland) is actually here (yay), and at that time (11.30am) is the only time that day I don't have patients myself, so it will fit in nicely unless it's all gone wrong, then I have to get through afternoon clinic, or the next week all the patients will be asking after me, and I couldn't bear that if it's gone wrong

fod27 · 05/10/2013 11:38

Wow!! Woke up with a very achy shoulder which has now turned into a throbbing lower back pain.... I'm getting quite worried actually- I'm guessing that this isn't normal ;(

YikesHereWeGo · 05/10/2013 14:26

janie - made in Chelsea - love it! Total guilty pleasure here too!
Just had my flu jab; was a total wimp about it and everyone in the queue clapped after I had it done. Blush
Hope you're all well. Weekend!!!!! xx

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 05/10/2013 14:58

Penguin I just wrote a post that mn ate :( I wasn't he one that said I had gbs but I did have it with dd2 (wasn't around for dd2 and will need to be checked again)

Everything was quite straight forward, what did you want to know specifically about? There are many many horror stories around but tbh, it was very straight forward for me.
I went into hospital as soon as my waters went, was given antibiotics through an iv, then was given a pessary to start induction. Given ab's every 4 hours until dd1 was born and she was checked over by the dr at birth. He was checked twice more and I was given a little talk and leaflet about what to look out for and was discharged the day after she was born.

Bodicea · 05/10/2013 15:19

Are the lmp rookie with babies due in November/ October getting flu jabs? It seems to close for comfort!

SnotMyProblem · 05/10/2013 16:42

fod, I'm sorry you seem to be having such a rough time. Is there anyone you can get to see, or is it a case of waiting until after weekend?

I am tired of feeling queasy all the time. I saw some stuff that reminded me of feeling rubbish on holiday, so felt rubbish all over again. I've also been having a downer of the 'oh bugger, twins, how am I going to cope' variety, but we have started clearing all our old crap out of the house in a minor panic-induced fit of activity. Twenty year old text books on the French Revolution that I didn't read first time round? Yeah, that can go!

fod27 · 05/10/2013 16:47

I'm going to have to wait until Monday now I think ;(

Pentagon · 05/10/2013 17:13

Thanks Christine and Cbeebies! It said in the letter that I may need to have antibiotics during labour...which is what happened with DD due to a UTI (and possibly GBS? I wasn't given enough details). I was hoping to avoid it this time and hopefully give birth at the MLU but I guess I should forget about it Sad

bod I was wondering the same thing...I can have it done next weekend, there's a flu clinic at my local surgery..I'll ask the midwife on Monday.

fod sorry to hear you're in pain. Please go to A&E if it gets worse

shellsocks · 05/10/2013 17:40

Hey bod am having the flu jab on Sat, I have it every year thru work normally anyway so didn't really think abt it....what are your concerns?

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 05/10/2013 17:48

Pentagon (I've just realised I've been calling you penguin, or is there another penguin?) I would assume that last time you did have gbs if you were hooked up to anti biotics. Its very unlikely you wont be given ab's during labour and I have to say the likely hood of giving birth at the mlu is almost non exsistant because they have to check the baby to make sure there are no symptoms of gbs and the mws cant do that.

Remember its what is important for the baby and your health that matters most. In my expiearience the hospital can be very similar to the mlu and they are very open to letting you do things such as having a play list, active labour etc etc. talk things through with your community midwife and discuss what she thinks will happen, if theres a way you dont have to be strapped to the bed etc etc.

I really hope you manage to come up with a compromise

Tomkat79 · 05/10/2013 19:09

fod you always have something going on at the weekend! Bless ya, hope paracetamol is easing it. Even with my nurse hat on not really too sure what's up. Hope you can get sorted Monday if no better.

Can I have some advice please...got my dating scan appointment through for the 30th Oct. That puts me at 13+7, as the early scan I had moved me on a week. The midwife took no notice of this and consequently I have a scan date right on the edge of the screening time limit of 14+1. She made it very clear I was high risk (bmi/age/ex smoker) so do you think I should moan and get this scan moved forward? I'm concerned that if the baby isn't in the right position they may not be able to check the nuchal thingy and then I'll miss the window. The midwife said she didn't want to see me again until 18 weeks so won't have bloods taken until then!

Don't want to come across neurotic but this does seem quite late doesn't it?

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 05/10/2013 19:27

yes tom, it definitely feels quite late, you need to make a fuss Smile

Pentagon · 05/10/2013 20:22

thanks cbeebies, much appreciated! I agree of course, a safe - for both baby and mother - delivery is more important than anything else

tom I also think you have every right to request an earlier scan. Go for it!
