Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:

Yey to spinning Pink! Mine is more alien life form and can't stay in one place for long, my bump looks very strange sometimes and the ramming by their bum whilst turning can be a bit 'eeek'!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 04/10/2013 19:05

hey lucky, good to see you, my edd buddy! glad you're being looked after well x

it must be the day for reduced movements...maybe the babies aren't too chuffed about the rubbish weather this week. i was on the phone to the midwife earlier as my wee squatter seems to only want to move about at night time. not even a hot cuppa makes it dance anymore but she reassured me and i did the coke test this avo and it said hi and had a wee shimmy about. will the worrying ever end i wonder?!

pixie, get on your knees and lean on a gym ball or just on all fours. was the best advice from the mlu the other day. also...in the water there are some shapes you can pull too. wasn;t it bump that did handstands in the pool?! :)

i'm shattered today, beein in my comfies since 5, brought the duvet down from the bedroom and have a takeaway curry on the way. might even have a wee non alco becks or 2. hellloooooo weekend

oh and for anyone interested in slings.... i am thinking of going to a fair tomorrow and there's a sling library where you can try lots out. apparently there are sling libraries in most cities, privately run, so might be worth a google.

andadietcoke · 04/10/2013 19:09

Cold fresh orange juice always worked a treat for me, to the extent that when I have it now I expect there to be a party in my belly, and it feels a bit weird when there isn't!!

Emki · 04/10/2013 20:17

Hello ladies, can I join? I've been lurking - a bit scared of admitting that I'm pregnant in fear of another mc (had 2). I recognise lots of names from the TTC thread and penguin has invited me over. Very exciting that you've had your midwife app. Do you think you'll go for an early scan?

Baking its so good to hear your news and that you are being looked after this time - wishing you a very smooth pregnancy.

So I'm 6 weeks and starting to fret - trying very hard not to as I know stress won't help. i keep having little twinges down there and worrying...

Anyway wishing you all smooth pregnancies and gentle births.

Tomkat79 · 04/10/2013 20:29

Great to see you here emki, congratulations!

I got stressed out (and still do!) with every twinge. Only natural to worry I think. Try not to panic though and use this thread to vent, it's great x

BirdsDoIt · 04/10/2013 20:31

emki!!! Great to see you here! Congrats! Hope the anxiety isn't too overwhelming - i was a nervous wreck until 8 week reassurance scan after mmc last time - do you think you'll be able to wangle an early scan for yourself too? I think the little twinges are quite normal, I had them too (and still am intermittently at 14 weeks) x

Emki · 04/10/2013 20:43

Thank you tomkat and birds!

Yes hoping twinges are things stretching and just being generally busy in that area. I can't believe how far along people are already. On the TTC thread I fell into an abyss and its amazing to see how time has been moving on!

The days for me are sooooo slow. So, yes I think I will go for an early scan as I reckon in 2 weeks I'll be climbing the walls! My EPAU are quite good - because my first MC was at 20 wks I had to go back and see them for a while after, then obviously went again when I lost pregnancy weeks. I know some of them quite well now and they said at the time that if I want to come in early that would be fine. I've scared of that though too!!! Must stop being scared!

Thank you for the welcome xx

Pixielady83 · 04/10/2013 20:47

Welcome and congratulations emki Smile hope the anxiety isn't too overwhelming xx

tomkat I thought I would never have energy again this time but at 18wks I suddenly got it back. I flake occasionally but don't feel wiped out all the time which is so nice! also get some chocolate all bran. Totally yummy and high fibre!

Janie and pink thanks for tips! Pink love your description of hippo baby Grin I'm only 5ft so quite little but usually 10 so not terribly skinny just short! will get my birthing ball pumped up again and start leaning on it Smile

fod27 · 04/10/2013 21:09

Yayyyyy emki!!! I'm sooo pleased for you! I had no idea that you had lost one at 20wks though, I'm so sorry that must have been incredibly difficult... Make sure your looking after yourself huni xxx rest up x

LuckySocks13 · 04/10/2013 21:18

Hi Emki sorry for your losses. Be kind to yourself and take one day at a time.

Hi Janie. Sorry to read about your cat :( Hopefully will make an appearance soon after eating out at all the local houses. I went to a sling library around a month ago. I have since bought a Close Caboo sling and a Connecta sling. I'm thinking I need to be hands free a lot with DS to look after!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 04/10/2013 21:20

CONGRATULATIONS! Emki. Smile
It's so brilliant to see people graduate here from the TTC thread.
Youre in a great place for worry support!

SnotMyProblem · 04/10/2013 21:25

Hello Emki, I'm sorry to hear about your losses. It's so difficult not to be scared, isn't it, but everyone here is lovely!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 04/10/2013 22:16

Hi emki! Welcome to the gang :)

Lucky thanks for your well wishes for my big cat, it's been a week now, wish he'd hurry up and come back if he's coming Hmm must keep an eye out for the slings you got, hope u can make it to the fair to try them out. Was it difficult to pick one?

LuckySocks13 · 04/10/2013 22:29

The sling library lady was really helpful and informative. The connecta is a soft style but with buckles. I felt that I would struggle with wrapping bits of material! The caboo is better from birth and puts over head like a t shirt. Hope baby likes them but if not they seem to go on eBay for nearly what you pay. I kept loosing out on eBay so went for new in the end as at least then I know they are clean and smoke free. Let me know how you get in .

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 04/10/2013 22:33

Thanks for the tips lucky, yes I really fancied one of the fabric ones but could be a bit of a faff. hope I can make it tmro :) will let you know x

Bodicea · 04/10/2013 22:52

Janies I your cat missing!? Hope you find it soon xxxx

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 04/10/2013 23:10

Yes bod :( he didn't come back for his tea last Friday night and he's still away :( I'm so devastated. We've done everything we can but still no sign. Cried myself to sleep every night, miss my big guy so much x

andadietcoke · 04/10/2013 23:19

Ooh ooh, I have a Close Caboo. Sophie was screaming tonight so I put her in it and managed to sterilise and put together all the bottles for the next 24 hours, put the breadmaker on, tidy the kitchen, put the Ocado delivery away and all sorts of other things although it sounded like I was murdering her for the first five minutes she's still asleep in it now and I'm sat on the sofa. It's really easy to put on and I'd very much recommend it. Can't believe how heavy she feels though - even though at 10lbs she's only a quarter of the weight I was carrying around at the end of my pregnancy!

BumpKitty · 05/10/2013 00:18

I have a mobi wrap ( the long stretchy fabric type sling), once you've done it a few times its very simple and I used to just leave it on around the house whether the baby was in it or not.

Oh janie I do hope he comes back soon :(

Pentagon · 05/10/2013 00:21

Thanks for the sling advice ladies - I really want to buy one but don't know where to start!

lucky, jmf good to hear from you!

janie so sorry to hear your cat is still missing Sad I can imagine how upsetting it is...

I think cooked ham is fine Anglo but I also freak out from time to time! And yay for not fitting into your jeans - this has got to be a good sign!

Welcome Emki and congratulations! I hope you can get an early scan to keep you going.

Today was my last day at work - I didn't really feel fed up so it was all a bit bittersweet. I got spoilt - lots of presents and lovely afternoon tea with my team. Strange to think that I'll be at home from now on...

I've just got a letter from my GP saying that the swab they took last week indicated that I have Group B strep and may need antibiotics during labour. I'm a bit freaked out and can't wait to talk to the midwife about it on Monday Confused

Wishing you all a good weekend! x

GardenWorm · 05/10/2013 00:49

Any asthmatics on the thread? I appear to have adult onset asthma ( and finally got a blue pump the other week) but have been told they can't do the full diagnosis whilst pregnant. Just woke up having a coughing fit (and nearly pissed myself as a result) and had to stumble downstairs for my pump. Have read it can get worse in wks 18-36 and just wondering if anyone with asthma had found this to be true as I haven't got a clue!

GardenWorm · 05/10/2013 00:55

Oh and wraps rock, I have a Moby too and also a boba 3G which DD was in all the time. I find them so much easier than Pushing the pram and great for 'off roading' and DP uses them as well, plus as Anda said they are a god send if baby won't settle or has colic. (Can't believe Sophie is 10llbs!)

Hello Emki and welcome, congratulations xxx

Bakingtins · 05/10/2013 04:28

Congratulations emki and hope everything goes smoothly for you. I am getting the red carpet treatment from EPU this time, they have never been this nice to be when I'm actually miscarrying Confused but seem to have decided I need to be treated with kid gloves. Take what positives you can, eh?

Janie I am so sorry about your cat - it is horrible when they disappear. We have had a terrible time with our animals over the last month, DDog was PTS because of pancreatitis and Dcat1 because of a bone tumour over the same weekend. They were both old but it was awful. Dcat2 ungrateful git decided to disappear. We leafleted round the area after a few days and several people phoned to say he was visiting them, one grabbed him so we brought him home, as soon as we let him go he did it again. He has a collar and a tag, and now a paper collar saying "Don't feed me" but he has basically decided to move out. I'm not seeing him for days on end and having to assume no news is good news. Just when I could really do with a furry cuddle Angry
I assume you've phoned local vets and shelters? The leafleting is worthwhile, we did have a good response from doing about 100 houses in the surrounding streets and asking them to check sheds etc or phone if they'd seen him. Make your DH do it! Hope he comes back.

Bodicea · 05/10/2013 06:29

Oh janie I am so sorry. Is he a bit of a wanderer. Our cats used to disappear for a few days often if we were a out to go on holiday. Sometimes the smallest of changes unsettle them. I hope he comes back soon. Maybe try what Tins said about leaflets. You never know he could have been stick in someone's house that went away. Does it like to visit neighbours? I shut a neighbours cat in my house once when i went away. It snuck in while I was packing up my car and came tearing out when I got back. It was fine though x there are honestly tons of explanations and he could easy turn up back on your door one soon. Hope you get him back soon xxxxxx

Garden - I have mild asthma. I hadn't used an inhaler for years but got prescribed one again since becoming pregnant. I am just a bit breathless sometimes but nothing serious. I haven't noticed it getting any worse as pregnancy got bigger.

Bootyluscious · 05/10/2013 06:35

Hello everybody, sorry to only dip in & out on the thread - I am so busy with work and the thread moves so quickly! I've only read the last few posts so apologies to anything I've missed - hi to all. 29 weeks today woop Smile

Janie - so sorry to hear re your cat going awol, I would be devastated as well. One of my friends cats has just reappeared very skinny and scruffy after 5 days of being away, which was unlike him to stray, so I hope that yours turns up too

Tom - I have to say that for me constipation is the absolute worst part of pregnancy!! I actually dread visiting the loo now lol - roll on after birth & normal pooing Grin

I caught up on OBEM last night and saw the episode with baby Kaiden, I cried buckets, so sad. I had no idea about it & probably wouldn't have watched it if so. His parents were so lovely bless them

I'm a bit put out that I have no unusual cravings - does anyone else? Only really chocolate - which is no different from before - and now gives me terrible heartburn grrrr Grin
