Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

anda I totally missed your post before, good to hear from you and thanks for the piccys....very cute! Good luck finding a routine, it will all click in to place soon enough Smile

pink I totally forgot Confused that I was in slow labour on and off for a few days before real labour kicked off so ignore my last post must be in denial

My MLU is attached to hospital so I walked to the new room last time when I needed to transfer, very lucky Smile

Pentagon · 02/10/2013 23:47

oh my goodness anda your girls are gorgeous! They've grown so much in 2 weeks, obviously you're doing a great job! Lovely to hear from you, as always! Yes, we should definitely set up a post-grad thread when the next lot graduates in November! I hope the Gina Ford book helps, I know a lot of people who find her books useful but take them with a pinch of salt.

Sorry for the delayed response to the latest news - I haven't had the chance to read the thread for a couple of days, it's my last week at work and have been super busy. Plus DD has an ear infection and was up for half the night on Monday as was I... felt like a zombie yesterday and today but she's a lot better thankfully

So...

awesome scan news kat, blackberry, cbeebies, nobodies and miss - so happy for you all!

saggy you are copying with everything amazingly well, you have my full respect and admiration! Glad to hear they can operate on the baby after a few months and with such a great success rate. Sorry your MIL has been unsupportive, some people are really narrow-minded and if you don't want to deal with her at the moment that's fair enough. I hope your DP is standing by you.

janie & shell your MLUs sound amazing, I'm so jealous! janie, I am getting excited but also terrified, I thought it would be different the second time round but no...I'm as bad as I was last time. Any news on your cat?

ibip I woke up in early hours of the morning (at 41w 2d) with period pains/mild contractions; and I knew that was it and things were starting to happen even though my waters broke 48 hours later and I gave birth 18 hours after that; but my labour was a bit complicated so I won't bore you with the details

garden glad you've sorted out things with DP, I hate tensions; and fod your post about your DH made me laugh Grin

DIYandEatCake · 03/10/2013 02:38

Hi again everyone, sorry I've not been on here much lately, things have been busy and I keep losing track of the thread and not being able to keep up. Was just thinking that the next lot of arrivals are coming up soon though and wanted to see how everyone is. anda your girls are gorgeous!
All ok here, 30 weeks now, it's going so fast now, funny as every day seemed like an eternity in the beginning.
Anyway better try and get to sleep again (damn you restless legs!). Will try and catch up a bit again over the next few days.

GardenWorm · 03/10/2013 06:17

OMG Anda: Bootiful (In my bestest Wiz Cuntry accent). I can understand how knackered you must be. Seriously though I would consider getting your other half to chip in with a night feed, it will make such a difference for you and I promise going into work is bliss when you have a baby as its the only time you get to rest, it doesn't matter if you've been up in the night! Don't feel guilty about waking him, better that he gets one feed a night than you get exhausted and he ends up having to do all the night feeds x

Pink I felt that way about MLU's too but went on the tour and realised I really like the fact that they dont instantly strap you up to a machine etc With DD I ended up having to stay on my back in the bed due to the constant monitoring. It was difficult to push her out in that position (even more so in stirrups) and I want to avoid the hormone drip/retained placenta post birth epidural palava that I had last time. I am worried but felt reassured that they would pack you off to hospital long before it became an emergency. Also the ambulance response is down as Immediate (i.e highest priority) and DP would hi jack one and drive there himself if he had to! I'd say go and have a look if there's one nearby, you don't have to commit to going there and can decide on the day but with ours they need you to have done a risk assessment at 34 wks, plus they do another over the phone assessment before they admit you to make sure it's suitable xxx

Pixielady83 · 03/10/2013 07:41

anda your girls are gorgeous! it sounds like very hard work hats off to you. I found the newborn bit with one a complete nightmare haze of sleep deprivation so can't imagine doing that two fold. People told me things would fall into place routine wise at 6 wks, they didn't, but by 12wks we found things a lot more predictable. Getting some ideas on routine is a great idea, I think GF has some good points if you are selective and don't adopt it as a doctrine. baby whisperer might have some tips too, I found her book quite sensible.

Am I the only one that is naively Shock at the mws suggesting getting jiggy in the mlu! when we were in hospital people kept wandering in and out all the time even though it said please knock, imagine if that happened in that situation! told DH as I was giggling and his response was 'no. just no' Grin

BirdsDoIt · 03/10/2013 07:52

anda your girls are beautiful!

And no pixie you are not alone. Can't think of anything less likely to happen - DH would definitely not be up for DTD at birthing centre!!!

shellsocks · 03/10/2013 08:41

DTD whilst pregnant in labour ShockConfusedBlush no chance!

Bodicea · 03/10/2013 09:11

Hi everyone, Sorry not been around for a bit. Keep losing track of thread it moves so fast.

anda your girls are soo yummy. they really are lovely. But yeah definately should get fela doing a night feed. Gosh you must be knackered.

what is this about dtd in labour?!? as if!!!!!

Are you def going for MLU garden? I do like the idea of them in some ways but too paranoid about things going wrong in a second. Particularly have a thing about shoulder distocia as have big baby and know that needs instant attention. Still my unit is quite small and friendly anyway so think I get best of both worlds. Going on a tour with another pregnant friend next week - yes i haven't been anywhere near the wards despite my job.

So today is my first day of mat leave. Hurrah!!! Got loads of meet ups planned with friends with kids and meeting up with some of the girls from NCT class. Also planning on swimming a couple of times a week as well as keeping up my yoga and joining aquanatal class. BLISS. I want to be super fit and ready for labour Found the last couple of weeks tough at work and was too tired in evenings to do any form of excercise. And now not sleeping well. Was awake half the night last night. Aaargh. Also started sleeping in separate beds as keeping DH up - no point us both being knackered - come in for snuggle in morning before he goes to work though. Praying this baby isn't late.
Work was lovely -they got me an angelcare baby monitor and a voucher for a photographer for newborn baby photos. kind of sad in a way.
Anyway off to the dentists in a bit - got to make most of freebies!!

Tomkat79 · 03/10/2013 09:14

Darlin there's approx 30 seconds before my next contraction...just slip me a quick one!! Mind you, my poor DH will be so sex starved by then he'd manage it in half that time haha Shock

Pentagon · 03/10/2013 09:29

ahahaha! yes, dtd while in labour doesn't sound very appealing - and midwives walk in and out all the time...how would that work?!?!

bod first day of maternity leave - yay! Mine is Monday but I have lots of cleaning and tidying up to do at home so not feeling very excited at the moment. I hope my nesting instinct kicks in soon! I remember not sleeping very well towards the end last time (apparently, nature's way of preparing you for the baby's arrival) - it hasn't happened yet though

saggy I meant to write "coping" not "copying" in my post last night - DOOOOOH!

MissMedusa · 03/10/2013 09:44

wowanda your girls are amazing!

IBelieveInPink · 03/10/2013 09:50

Dtd in labour was mentioned at my nct the other day. The look of horror was clear on mine and DH faces - especially when she said it could be in the time after you are dialated?! Forgive me for being naïve but wouldn't you poke the baby?! Wrong!

Bod - lovely to hear from you been wondering how you doing. Jealous of mat leave! I'm not going on leave for another 4 and half weeks! Although my job is just sitting - still jealous of that lovely time off. :)

I also have a massive fear of shoulder dissocia. I don't know why that is the bit I have fixated on, but it is the thing that scares me most? Guess just need to wait and hope for best!

shellsocks · 03/10/2013 10:42

That was my fear last time too bod and pink as I was so big and DS was predicted big...when they said it was off to theatre for forceps or CS I freaked a bit and asked for CS as I was so scared of SD but they said then and at the debrief that it is very rare and DS was delivered by forceps Smile It's funny how you fixate on something but try not to worry abt it the odds are really in your favour, I blame OBEM Wink

TheNobodies · 03/10/2013 11:06

MISS The feeling is defiantly unbeatable seeing a heartbeat! Your babies a good size, my Munchkin is 11.1mm at 7 weeks 3 days :-) so much good news, i tjink this year is the year for rainbow babies!

Bakingtins · 03/10/2013 11:23

Hi ladies, can I wave a tentative hello? I left the bread in June after MC4 but have since had more investigations, been diagnosed with high NK cells and got a BFP first cycle. Am a bit freaked out to be back on the roller coaster so soon, not really mentally prepared yet. This time round I'm on progesterone, steroids and clexane, so DH can look forward to moody, snappy, insomniac wife covered in bruises. Hope it is worth it. I'm 5 weeks today and have first scan next week.

I recognise names from the TTC threads and this one previously, massive congrats to Anda on the birth of your girls.
Saggy I have good friends whose baby has DS and had heart surgery for what sounds like v similar problems. He's nearly one now and doing well. If you wanted to talk to them I'm sure I could put you in touch.

Bakingtins · 03/10/2013 11:23

Left the thread obviously, won't let me correct it.

GuffSmuggler · 03/10/2013 11:24

Tomkat79 · 03/10/2013 12:00

Congratulations baking so pleased to see you here. You were a fantastic support to me back in May when I MC so hope I can hold your hand on this tentative new journey x

TeaAndANatter · 03/10/2013 12:29

Great scan news, all the scanners! Particularly happy cbeebies bleed stopped.

Hi newbies/returners!

Glad you're feeling you have good RL support, Saggy. Am on standby to 'take care' of your mother whenever you give me the nod Grin

Love the aggression, garden and fod, made me howl.

Pixielady83 · 03/10/2013 13:11

Congratulations baking really hope things go smoothly from here in for you.

Forgot to say earlier, yay for good scans celebratory Cake all round!

Slightly sadder note, realised just now that today is the anniversary of our friend's little girl who was still born. We've heard this week that another family we know has also recently had a still born baby so it's on my mind today and I just want to encourage everyone to count their kicks. This website is quite good Count the Kicks and they have a count the kicks bracelet which is very simple but reminds you of how much movement to expect from your baby each day. I'm going to get one for me and my pregnant friend. Hope I haven't caused any anxiety by posting about this but wanted to do something positive by reminding/raising awareness. Hope that's ok xxx

pumpkinsweetie · 03/10/2013 13:22

Smile Oh wow bakingtins a big congratulations to youThanks!!!

Anda, what beautiful girls you have! Thanks for the offer of help. I'm still trying to work out what questions to ask - there are so many! I hope also you're getting on OK. I'd get all the help you can, especially at night!

Pixie thank you for posting that link, and I'm so, so sorry to hear about your friends.

Baking, hello, and congratulations. I hope everything is lovely and smooth and boring for you.

Also: DTD in labour? No. Just no. I think if DH had tried it well (a) he wouldn't have anyway - I think he would have the same opinion as me on that and (b) if he did, I think bad things would have happened to him at my hands. Bad, bad things.

I had my booking-in appointment today. The midwife was lovely, which made me happier. I just hate the constant paranoia when every little thing is something to worry about. I keep seeing single magpies and frantically saluting. It'll be sacrificing chickens and reading the entrails next, except that the supermarket only do the one without giblets. Maybe a chicken kiev instead? I can just see myself trying to divine the future of my unborn infants through the thickness of the breadcrumb layer, and the amount of garlic butter that's leaked onto the baking tray.
