Hello again - another shiny new thread for the batsh*t crazy women going through the stress and emotional rollercoaster that is being pregnant after a miscarriage.

Fingers crossed for lots of happy scans and boring pregnancies.

OP posts:

Fod I worry about you lot too! Im on tenterhooks when someone has a scan!
Bump I agree. Thankfully my DM and I have made it up and had a long chat. She is lovely, she just panics a bit. She's right there behind me.
MIL is from an entirely different generation. TBH I will just steer clear.

fod27 · 02/10/2013 00:38

How many ladies have has headaches during the second trimester? I've never suffered with them before but I've been googling again

Penguinita · 02/10/2013 06:56

I was so tired I went to bed at 9pm last night, and now I've been awake since 4.30am! This bean is messing with my body clock!

Lovely news on the scans kat and blackberry, it must be such a relief. I can't see you getting to the birth without accidentally referring to your baby as "him" or "her" though blackberry and giving the game away Smile

Your MIL isn't making things easy, is she saggy? Ah, families, who'd ave em? I'm sure she is just trying to "help" by making her son aware of what he might have to cope with, but basing that on a bad experience from fifty years ago is more harmful than helpful. As if you didn't have enough to stress about.

Penguinita · 02/10/2013 07:00

I have my first midwife appointment on Friday, and I want to push for an early reassurance scan. Any tips on how to improve my chances? Does crying help or hinder (I might not be able to help that anyway)? Should I emphasise my worries about an ectopic following previous suspected ectopic (that feels a bit devious)? I expect it will just come down to whatever the policy is in my area, but any advice would be very welcome.

Tomkat79 · 02/10/2013 07:59

Good luck with that penguin. I practically offered blood to my GP and she was having none of it! I tried 2 weeks ago via the community midwife route as booking in appointment not until today and she said she could only refer if there was bleeding/cramping etc. ended up paying privately which was a bugger but glad to have that reassurance. Now I'm just terrified about the 12 week one!

As you say it's very dependant on the policy but I'd maybe turn on the water works. Just enough to make your eyes well up but not tears rolling down ya cheeks! Good luck xx

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/10/2013 08:09

Penguin I would speak to the EPAU direct. Mine told me they would want to see me next time after my ectopic. An early scan was a given. The odds of ectopic again are slightly raised so they need to be sure.

fod27 · 02/10/2013 08:24

I've heard of women that have claimed to have both cramping and bleeding and been seen for a scan

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 02/10/2013 08:28

Morning all.

Good luck miss today hope your scan goes well

Penguin I've heard of women claiming bleeding and cramping too, but I'm not sure I could lie like that. Can you speak direct to the EPAU, they're usually quite good and can fit you in

SnotMyProblem · 02/10/2013 08:58

Hello Cbeebies - I was thinking about you and hope today brings good things.

Yay Blackholes for the good scan!

Saggy, I'm sorry that you're not getting as much support from home. I'm sure when your MIL finally meets baby Saggy, she's going to love him/her! The heart thing sounds scary, but it's reassuring that the doctor didn't seem overly worried. It's like being on a plane when there's turbulence - I look at the cabin crew and see if they looking concerned, and if they're not, I figure it must be OK!

ThePFJ · 02/10/2013 09:04

Morning girls!! Still pregnant today... I am now well over the latest mark of my mc's... if that makes sense... It's making me nervous but happy.

It is RAINING CATS, DOGS and HAMSTERS here this morning. We didn't walk to school, we swam! xxxx

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 02/10/2013 09:06

Congrats on the great scans yesterday

Saggy you had quite the day. You're right, it's a total generation attitude though, maybe when you have your counselling it might be easier to explain to your mil about the road ahead and how incredibly different it will be to her experiences. Sometimes the older generation are 'know it alls' and their opinions are totally outdated and quite uneducated x

Cbeebies hope your bleeding has eased, let us know how you get on today.

I'm off for an active birth workshop this morning at the mlu in the hospital. Shell ours is quite fancy too so I'm looking forward to seeing all the facilities. I think this is going to make everything seem even more real eek! I have to go alone though, wish dh could come

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/10/2013 09:35

Snot thats a great analogy! im goinf to steal that!Grin

Pixielady83 · 02/10/2013 09:36

yay blackberry so pleased you had a good scan! Smile

saggy hope you get on ok today and make contact with some nice people.

cbeebies hope things are better today are you at epu?

janie and shell very envious of your super fancy birth centres! although my hospital have redecorated the one and only birth pool room to make it look a bit less 80s (the old birth pool had beige patterned tiles on it! Confused )

Lazy day with DD today Grin watched a bit of peppa then she said 'mummy shall we watch your cake programme now' bless Smile just as well as I missed it due to her bedtime reluctance last night

andadietcoke · 02/10/2013 11:31

Hi everyone...

Mum's here, so one baby asleep on one arm, and one hand to type...

Saggy sounds like you've been on a roller coaster lady. Second what everyone else has said - your baby will be a fighter, just like their mum, and your trip to Holland together will be awesome. How are your other DCs?

Snot TWINS!!!!! If you need anything just ask. Congratulations x

Good to see so many good scan results. Can't believe it's October already - new thread babies soon Grin

GuffSmuggler · 02/10/2013 11:35

penguin my GP referred me for an early scan, luckily she was very sympathetic when I said how anxious I was. If you've got a good GP you could try that route?

IBelieveInPink · 02/10/2013 11:55

Ooh Janie let us know what you learn in that! Sound interesting! We covered 'labour' in nct last night. DH turned a little green. Uh oh.

Diet - so lovely to hear from you - how are you getting on?

So - ladies who have had babies before. Talk to me about signs of labour. Is there any clues a few days before? Or is it just- bam - labour? Can't believe I've got to the stage where have to start considering this!!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 02/10/2013 12:08

I am so beyond shocked. I really thought yesterday was the start of the end of this pregnancy for me. There wasb a healthy happy little baby on the screen today with a strong heart beat. I cant believe I'm still pregnant. Was dated as 8 weeks exactly. so so so relieved.

Tomkat79 · 02/10/2013 12:27

beebies what awesome news. So so happy for you xxx

SnotMyProblem · 02/10/2013 12:27

Yay Yay Yay!

So glad you've had good news Cbeebies!

Pixielady83 · 02/10/2013 13:08

beebies hooray, what a massive relief! Smile so pleased for you.

ibip I had no signs of labour until my waters went. Contractions then started 2hrs later. I had been sat around chatting to a friend that afternoon and told her I was completely convinced I would go way overdue. She was quite surprised to wake the next morning to news of baby after leaving me at 5pm the day before completely fine!

GuffSmuggler · 02/10/2013 13:48

Great news cbeebies Grin

Lovely to hear from you anda, it must be a lovely, crazy, manic ride with twins!

IBelieveInPink · 02/10/2013 14:31

Cbeebies - brilliant news, so pleased :)

Pixie wow that's impressive, I want one like that! Was that on time then?

cbeebs YEY!

Hi Anda x

Pink 2 things one your waters may trickle (initially thought I'd leaked wee but knew I hadn't!) not gush and also make sure you do a test run for the route to second nearest hospital...we didn't. Doh! It wasn't a BAM I'm I'm labour for me in fact at first I wasn't sure so when they told me at hospital I wasn't I believed them (not my gut instinct)

We've got our trip to MLU tonight, will see what they have to say about my many concerns...!

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 02/10/2013 14:59

thanks every one. hopefully miss is also getting good news, I havent seen her around recently
