I'm having a lot of wronged but don't know if spd or mini contractions. I have a lot pressure between legs feel like I'm going to snap or everything's going to fall out! Husband coming home from work......

sillyoldfool · 10/10/2013 12:58

Oooooh good luck sweetie!

I'm washing hands like a madwoman and disinfecting door handles etc...

Smerlin · 10/10/2013 13:25

Can I join? Only 38+2 but midwife yesterday said that she didn't think I'd make it to my 40 week appt so feeling hopeful (maybe they just say that to everyone though?!)

Must admit apart from baby engaging, I haven't had the slightest sign of anything- no plug, no BH, nothing. Just feel tired and achy!

SmallBee · 10/10/2013 13:43

Good luck Sweetie!

& welcome Smerlin, a lot of people have said they don't feel any BH at all & some people don't lose the plug until labour begins. Do you know what you're having?

Had a sweep today and scored 1 higher on the bishops score than on my Monday sweep so I'm pleased. I'm being induced tomorrow at 8am so hopefully the sweeps will have helped speed things up! either way this time next week I'll have my little person. I'm ranging from very excited to 'Holy crap we're actually having a baby!'.

Does anyone feel that even though they've read the books, got the stuff & gone to the classes they're still massively unprepared? I feel like I won't have a clue what I'm doing!!

star87 · 10/10/2013 15:27

smallbee I feel the same as you, massively unprepared. I have everything ready, but mentally im sure I am! However I am sure when the time comes I'll know exactly what to do.

Possible tmi... does the mucas plug come away in bits? I've noticed that when I go to the loo there is a little bit of mucus type goo. Not sure what this is!

SmallBee · 10/10/2013 15:48

Star, I think it depends, mine came away in one goopy mess - luckily while I was already on the loo. But I've read loads of threads where posters have said that they've lost theirs in stages which sounds like what is happening to you.

sillyoldfool · 10/10/2013 17:24

It can come away in bits. This is my third pg and I've never seen a mucus plug, and I also feel totally unprepared so I wouldn't worry!

sweetiepie1979 · 10/10/2013 18:12

I think mine is coming away in bits too I've not really progressed today. This is my second I was prepared fir first and this time I haven't a clue what I'm doing. I reckon I would have went in to Labour last week but I feel so mentally unprepared that's why I keep starting and stopping. I need some kind of mantra.

gainsbourg · 10/10/2013 18:57

I hope you are managing to fend off the germs silly, and that the Ofsted inspection is going well green? Hello smerlin - I too have felt nothing and I am now nine days overdue! No mucus plug either... I had bad lower backache a while ago - I forget when - three/four days ago?! But clearly that meant nothing! I am resigning myself to an induction on Sunday. Good luck smallbee! You are definitely nearly there now! I too feel completely unprepared. I feel less prepared the later he gets - more time to flap I think!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 10/10/2013 20:45

Can I join in please? I might be a bit early for this thread, I'm only 37+4 but dd came at 38+1 so I might be a tad early again.

GeorgieJo · 10/10/2013 20:47

SmallBee really good luck for tomorrow! Hope it all goes well for you.

I am now 40 + 5 hoping that a sweep tomorrow might start things moving. Have been having some BH and on/off backache for a couple of days, but doesn't seem to amount to anything. No sign of plug either :-(

sweetiepie1979 · 10/10/2013 22:55

Yes goodluck tomorrow Small bee!
I know midwife will want to give me a sweep tomorrow but they really freak me out, didn't have one last time, are they sore?

GreenSunrise · 11/10/2013 05:28

Ofsted inspection went well and they left DH's school yesterday afternoon. Good job as my waters have just broken!!

Iheartcrunchiebars · 11/10/2013 05:45

Hi all can I check in at 39+3? Feel like a ticking time bomb!

Great news Green Sunrise!

gainsbourg · 11/10/2013 08:08

Yeay! Exciting times green! Good luck! All the best today smallbee. I'll be having a sweep today too sweetie. I had a failed one last week which didn't hurt at all (but then, it didn't work, so...). I think people say they're mainly just uncomfortable.
Welcome Iheartcrunchiebars!

star87 · 11/10/2013 08:38

Gluck o all you lucky people having your sweep today and greensunrise I dont think you could have timed it better!

Still the same here... lots of bh and very sharp and painful stabbing pains in my lower pelvis.

Have sent oh off to golf this morning to give me a bit of a rest. He's convinced my waters are going to break during the england match tonight!

star87 · 11/10/2013 09:13

*good luck!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 11/10/2013 09:27

green that's great news on the Ofstead inspection, so exciting that your waters have gone. Hope everything goes smoothly

silly hope you have avoided the sickness bug, it's just started going round where I live too

sweetie how are you feeling, sorry you have spd, I remember that feeling your pelvis is going to crumble.

smallbee best of luck today.

Smerlin · 11/10/2013 10:34

Great news greensunrise ! Hope your OH has some energy left for supporting you through labour now- I was emotionally and physically exhausted after my school's Ofsted!

sweetiepie1979 · 11/10/2013 12:01

Good luck green surprise! What happens now do you hAve to wait on contractions?
We'll I've just been to midwife decided I would have assweep but when she checked baby's position she felt it might be breech! She thought that 2 week's ago went for scan and baby was Head down engag'ed. Can a baby be 2/5 ths engaged and then turn breech? Surely that couldn't be possible? When she first felt me today she thought all she could feel was neck down there
then when feeling for position of bum she thought it felt too hard and could have been more like Head than
bum.... Had to phone husband to come home early
again! He said midwives over reacting and baby not
breech, like he'd know! Argument ensued as he was
stressed and I said I'd get bus to hospital which would take an hour. He hascsincebpboned to say it's ok
This is more important he'll be home didn't want me sitting on bus. But I've just eaten loads of chocolate and Had a big cry! I feel like such a burden on him no family near by for either of us. I keep getting false pains and he has had to come home from work a few times. I feel likesuch a handful this time. And iI wish this spd would bugger off so I could go for a long walk.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 11/10/2013 14:27

Oh sweetie poor you. My midwife has been convinced this baby is breech but I think he just has a skinny bum, every scan he has been head down.
Don't feel bad about your husband having to come home early, this is a really short time when you will need a bit more attention and support. Sorry you have spd it's so bloody painful, hope it eases up soon.

GreenSunrise · 11/10/2013 15:24

Contractions started pretty much as soon as waters went though were not painful at all. They got to 10 minsaapart so I called triage because I am trying to do vbac and so my M W had said they would want to monitor me from that point. Triage said to come in so that they could check that my waters had definitely gone and by the time d h got home from work they were3 mins apart! But when they examined me at hospital I wasn't dilated at all and so I have been sent home and have got to go back tomorrow morning for induction. Contractions are really painful now so I have taken painkillers and am doing lots of rocking against furniture and on the fit ball. If it stays this painful I don't know how I will get through the night without going back to hospital and begging for drugs! D H has gone for a lie down to prepare himself for the next few days, he was up with D S last night

Sorry not to name check other posts, not finding it easy to concentrate much at the moment!

AbsFun · 11/10/2013 15:38

Can I join in? I'm 38+6 and must say completely fed up!! Am having a little boy and all my friends due around the same time are having their babies! I'm so uncomfortable, have lost my mucus plug but nothing seems to be happening!! I cry nearly every day at the thought of possibly being pregnant another three weeks! What has everyone done to pass the time waiting for their little one? Glad to know I'm not the only one waiting around /:

TeWiSavesTheDay · 11/10/2013 16:47

Green sunrise go back to hospital now - if the contractions are getting much more painful you could easily be further along/dilating now and give birth before morning.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 11/10/2013 16:48

How did your scan go sweetie?
