Welcome ladies, new and old. Grin May we all have dull and boring pregnancies. Pull up a chair, crack open a bottle of (non-alcoholic) wine and settle in for mutual handholding, fishslapping and neurosis.

and yay for losing weight!

Rockchick1984 · 09/09/2013 15:24

Guff after me worrying about bump size, it seems to have appeared from nowhere the last few days so trying to stop stressing!

pumpkinsweetie · 09/09/2013 16:15

Fx for you saggy & hope your results on thurs bring good news. Congrats on losing weight though xx

omri · 09/09/2013 16:29

Saggy thinking of you- fx for the results on Thursday. Hope you can keep distracted til then and not worry too much though I know it's easier said than done. Here to hold your hand whatever happens.

BumpKitty · 09/09/2013 17:35

Oh saggy - I have everything crossed for you for Thursday. But try to think that in all probability you've just had a glimpse of your healthy little wriggly baby.

This is entirely trivial in comparison and TMI but I have started on my iron tablets and I think they hate me. Everything i eat is closely followed by an episode of explosive green/black diarrhoea - particularly enjoyable when you're at work. Apparently I need to talk to my GP which would be a whole lot easier if they answered the fucking phone!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 09/09/2013 18:28

hey saggy, so sorry you have this extra worry. i hope thursday come round quickly for you. i don't have any nuchal knowledge so i'm sorry i can't offer any additional help or advice. 'don't panic' is easy for me to say, but as the others have all said, it's not bad news yet xx

bump, wow your explosions sound pretty unfortunate :( i hope you 'solidify' soon!

i got my bloods done last week (28-30 week bloods). just had a thought...am i meant to call them for results normally or do they let me know if there's anything to know?

Forester · 09/09/2013 19:22

Saggy you don't need to hide your worries here and pretend you are OK - if it helps please fret as much as you like on this threat. Fingers crossed you get positive news on Thursday.

TeaAndANatter · 09/09/2013 19:31

Saggy, sorry for your worries. I read in Sheila Kitzinger (Birth over 35- totally recommend it) all the stats for how many people without DS had a wider than typical NT, but just fall into the typical bellcurve. Crossing everything for you over the next days x

fod27 · 09/09/2013 19:34

Oooo saggy!!!!! What a day you've had! You poor thing! In all honesty I don't know how I'd react and we too have had the conversation regarding the 12 week scan and the "what would we do?" chat, I won't say I understand or to be positive etc because when you in that place you just can't be upbeat until you've weighed up everything and talked things through calmly... Thinking of you and sending hugs xxxx PS hope you don't mind me asking but how old are you?

Pixielady83 · 09/09/2013 20:19

saggy Sad I'm so sorry you've got more stress. But also really pleased you saw a happy wriggly baby. It just sucks that you've now got this to worry about. Thinking of you and total and hoping you get reassurance soon xx

Fod im 38.
Kat we will not be finding out. I wantone nice surprise to look forward to! Smile

kjh5 · 09/09/2013 20:42

Hi everyone - hoping saggy is getting lots of rest after such a traumatic day. Thinking of you and total hoping you get lots of support in RL xx

I don't suppose anyone on here has any advice on how to cope with extreme morning sickness? I woke up this morning and its as if someone flipped the switch from bad to worse. I can't keep anything down (apart from sips of water) and my stomach is cramping something chronic (intestinal not scary bad AF-like cramps). I hoped I would get better as the day went on but I think it's worse. I've called in sick st work but I've only got a day or two's grace on that front as we're chronically short- staffed this week. I'm also losing my ability to cope with having my head stuck down a toilet all day trying to remember how I would have done anything to feel this ill last pregnancy

I'm really sorry to moan with other much more serious concerns on this thread but if anyone can tell me whether this is normal and give any advice I'd be massively grateful!

IBelieveInPink · 09/09/2013 20:44

Kat - we found out. I am a planner, so really wanted to know, and to us, it makes us feel a little more like we know her already :) and i can shop for her (this is a bad thing - I have just discovered eBay!)
But it very much is each to their own!!

kjh5 · 09/09/2013 20:47

Ooh cross-posts Kat good idea on the distraction front! I think I'd like to find out a DH wants it to be a surprise... I like the idea of decorating the nursery just so and think it might help me bond with the baby a but more pre-birth... That said Saggy has a point and I might change my mind - although we're so far away from that scan I can't imagine actually getting there!

TeaAndANatter · 09/09/2013 20:52

Sorry to hear you feel crappy kjh

Kat Not this time. We want a nice surprise. My head got turned (I always wanted to know with the other two) by reading something someone said about if people don't know then everyone gets all excited with 'what did they have', but otherwise if they already know they're a bit like 'oh they had it then'. By the third baby, no-one seems to get particularly excited unless you're having quads, so I need all the additional 'ta-daaaaah' I can muster!

Pixielady83 · 09/09/2013 20:55

kjh sorry no advice on extreme ms, but I found my (mild) sickness much worse if I didn't have anything in my stomach, have you tried crackers as soon as you wake up?

kat we're not finding out again Grin it nearly drove me mad not knowing last time but nothing can compare to the moment when we found out who she was! I had really really wanted a little girl but had fully persuaded myself I was having a boy so it was very exciting. I don't mind as much this time, but if I'm very very honest (please don't judge me) I would love another little girl. I worry that if I found out it was a boy without the birth excitement I might be a tiny bit disappointed whereas I feel it would be v different if a little boy was handed to me because he would be there already and we could start getting to know him immediately Smile not sure if that makes much sense, and think it is v personal choice but that is my experience. Feel excited just thinking about it!

fod27 · 09/09/2013 21:15

kjh mine was horrific too! I nibbled on ginger biscuits whilst sat up in bed before getting out of bed, as I found that hunger made it worse, also try to stay away from diary and thoroughly chew everything! You'll appreciate it when it revisits. I had to suck on mints when I drove to stop me chucking up in the car. Oooo and try dry bread as it soaks up bile etc (that stuff really hurts!)

fod27 · 09/09/2013 21:17

Eat little and often as opposed to big meals

TeaAndANatter · 09/09/2013 21:22

I've just eaten 18 Milk Tray chocolates and I feel a bit sicky. Can I count that as morning sickness please?

Kat good luck tomorrow. x
KJH try starchy white food. real chips helped me no end!

kjh5 · 09/09/2013 21:27

Thanks everyone - I've been trying to put food in my tummy (mainly toast) but it does not want to stay there. Good tip on the bread Fod - god I hope I'm better tomorrow!

Sorry to hear your scan wasn't 100% what you needed to put your mind at rest saggy. I hope your blood results come back much more positive and you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy Smile

kat we HAD to know with DS no way I could not of, I think coming after the MMC it was like how other people have said, I wanted control over what I could and the moment we found out at the 20w scan is still (even after the birth etc) one of the best moments if my life Smile Neither of us wanted to know this time and I'm so so excited doing it this way round, was hard at the 4D scan we had at 27w looking away when the sonographer said tho!!
