Welcome ladies, new and old. Grin May we all have dull and boring pregnancies. Pull up a chair, crack open a bottle of (non-alcoholic) wine and settle in for mutual handholding, fishslapping and neurosis.

Kjh I was throwing up 7 times a day with ds 1 - no ms with my mmc - this time I've been throwing up twice a day but feel really tired. I find the more tired I get the sicker I feel so sleep when you get in from work or have early nights. I had crackers and bananas and other nature valley type bars beside the bed and nibbled before I went to sleep and as soon as I woke up before I got out of bed. Yes to also sipping iced water.
I also found that no matter how bad you feel, you'll always be bit better once you're up and dressed and out the door because you just have to be. I found my sickest days were when I stayed in bed able to get sick whenever... Iykwim.

Wrt finding out the sex - we didn't for ds1 and we won't for this one either. I like the guessing games. It's also such a great surprise for you and all your friends and family to hear the "it's a boy/girl!" news.
Another reason I won't find out: baby's last little secret from me for many years!
Another reason and a friend told me this: his brother found out the sex. It was a boy. They told everyone his name would be "John". So all the friends and family were talking about John for months before he even arrived. So when it came to the birth and the news: oh John was born last night... It was as if it was nearly old news as opposed to is it a boy/girl what're they calling him/her??
Sorry on the phone and maybe that doesn't make much sense but essentially what stuck with me was that my friend said it wasn't this amazing exciting news when the baby was born. I thought that was bit sad.

HOwEVER! All that said, I am v tempted to secretly find out and not tell dp!!!! Wink Not tell one person just keep it to myself. Only have to worry about choosing one name then etc

Bodicea · 09/09/2013 22:20

Sorry you have such a horrible wait to get your results saggy Glad you are feeling more positive now though. Hoping the time passes quickly for you

Angloamerican · 10/09/2013 03:33

I have my 6 week scan tomorrow. Very nervous. But also a sense of peace in knowing its out of my hands, as well. My mood changes every few minutes...we've had bad news before at this point, including a cystic hygroma of over 9mm. It can't be any worse than getting that news, and we survived it.

fod27 · 10/09/2013 08:07

Goof luck anglo thinking if you

BlackholesAndRevelations · 10/09/2013 08:25

Good luck Anglo and hope your blood results come back ok, saggy xx

I've only just seen this and you're at 10 pages already !! So I'm afraid I haven't read all. Will try and catch up at some point.

All good here Smile

Pentagon · 10/09/2013 09:50

good luck Anglo!

pumpkinsweetie · 10/09/2013 12:48

Goodluck anglo Smile

Saw mw this morning, everything is how it should be and very pleased to hear babas heartbeatSmile
Shame she had to remind me of my bmi though (37.1) by printing out a bloody growth chart to plot baby's suspected weight next time i come, already told her all my babies have been small to average-suppose she has to follow govs guidlines though!

Will be 24 weeks on Sunday, cannot wait to reach that milestone, i will be able to relax a littleSmile
Going to try my angelsounds heartbeat thingy again in a couple of weeks, it should sound better now i'm bigger.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/09/2013 13:51

Good luck Anglo.
Im having a lounging in bed watching films today. I slept badly again last night so the snoozing is quite nice, and the films are helping keep my mind occupied.

RainbowConnections · 10/09/2013 14:31

Saggy good that films are providing a distraction. Sorry about the sleep. Do you have to go back to get results Thurs? A tough wait.

My 3yo perfect distraction is doing his first full day at preschool today. It seemed like a good idea for him to get used to lunch etc with other kids before school but i really miss him. I'm trying hard not to leave half an hour early to pick him up. I'm going to need a 6 mnth hobby.

Pumkinsweetie, 24 wks is great. Wondered if I could ask something? I haven't had 12 wk scan yet, and I'm quite a lot bigger than I was with DS. BMI 30. Does this make ultrasounds scans difficult early on?

Good luck Anglo.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/09/2013 14:43

Rainbow im a fat bird, bmi36, and had to have dildo cam at 6 weeks, but at 8 external was fine.

LittleBallOfFur · 10/09/2013 15:40

Hi everyone, please can I join? I'm 13 weeks pregnant with dc2, after an early miscarriage (6 weeks) in may. I had my scan last week and was so relieved that everything looks fine.

However I went away over the weekend for a wedding in Europe - it was ace but I've had to take today off work as I feel so so tired (I didn't sleep well last night) and queasy again, and have been having dizzy spells.

Not sure if I've just overdone it, I though I was over the queasiness and feel so fed up of feeling unwell!

Tomkat79 · 10/09/2013 16:12

Welcome little. Glad scan went well. Your European weekend sounds very exciting!

Need some advice ladies...SEX! Am I being stupid? Am now 6 weeks and won't let my poor long suffering DH stick it anywhere near somewhere that might cause any damage! I feel such a neurotic cow as I'm typing this! Am I being over cautious?. Can't be 100% sure but think last time pregnant we did it around this time and bled slightly...before MC at 8 weeks so guessing they weren't connected Confused

Bodicea · 10/09/2013 16:23

Janie you have just reminded me that I was supposed to have a midwife appointment at 28 weeks. Oops. Kind if forgot what with having the gtt test. So just done a panick appointment for next week as I am in Cornwall at the mo. had a look thought my notes and not had bp checked since I was 26 weeks! And bloods for gtt were different so need bloods doing too. Am such a pleb! You would think I would be a bit more up on this.

I think they go through bloods at next appointment but if anything worrying they would ring

Bodicea · 10/09/2013 16:30

Tomcat course you can have sex. It's fine. Unless you are already bleeding but I think that is more to do with infection maybe or if miscarrying it may be lower/ closer to cervix. But it certainly can't cause an mc.
at 6 weeks it is nicely settled in the fundal uterus (top but) already so miles away from you know what.

Bodicea · 10/09/2013 16:30

Oh and waves to little xxxxx

Bodicea · 10/09/2013 16:31

Oh god typo hell. Tom cat that was meant to say top bit!

Well, I started with 3 episodes of Being Human, then went on to Cary Grant in Philadelphia Story, then am finishing up it Mrs Miniver. You cant beat an old black and white film or two! Smile

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 10/09/2013 17:16

I have a really tender bump today. The sonographer was digging around in there for ages yesterday! A copule of times she juggled the probe up and down to try and get baby to move position! Confused

pumpkinsweetie · 10/09/2013 17:22

Welcome littleSmile

Rainbow my scans were all done externally at 10, 12, & 21 weeks, they could see everything fine although they did note reduced visibility due to maternal habitusGrin. Think it means that things aren't quite as fine in detail as they are with lower bmis.

saggy i felt just like that after my last scan, i felt so pummeled, almost bruised. It did go away after a few days though.

Angloamerican · 10/09/2013 17:23

Well the ultrasound went well, although I am slightly "less" pregnant than I had estimated. Today is 5w6d rather than 6w3d. Baby's heartbeat was there and measuring fine, but of course they couldn't really see much else. Back in 4 weeks for a follow-up ultrasound...

LittleBallOfFur · 10/09/2013 17:33

Thanks for the warm welcome :) feeling better after a day of rest so hopefully I just overdid it at the weekend. I'm paranoid about everything at the mo!

Pixielady83 · 10/09/2013 17:35

yay anglo glad all was well Smile

welcome little Smile

tomkat no sex here whatsoever.. I feel a bit harsh but I'm sooo not interested so DH is just having to do without. Last time I got my sex drive back around this point and he was too freaked out to DTD though so this kinda serves him right Grin

Chocolateteabag · 10/09/2013 18:57

FX for Thursday Saggy - horrid to have to wait in limbo Sad

KJH - I'm in wired bras still - non wired would give me an awful mono boob. I even found wired nursing bras. As long as they fit properly and don't dig into your breast tissue then it's ok. It's just that so many people are wearing wrong size bra (I am a bra intervention convert from early Style and Beauty threads)

Anglo - glad your scan went well even if you aren't as far along as you thought.

Hi little

SPD getting slowly worse here, have upgraded work pass so I can use the disabled doors rather than the revolving ones. Walking hurts but then sitting for too long means everything stiffens up and it's murder to get walking again. I think I may need crutches soon Sad Shell how are you doing my lovely?
