Welcome ladies, new and old. Grin May we all have dull and boring pregnancies. Pull up a chair, crack open a bottle of (non-alcoholic) wine and settle in for mutual handholding, fishslapping and neurosis.

Scan went ok..

As I thought I'm about 5+2 weeks everything looks really good for my dates, obviously no heartbeat but I expected that. Got a scan next week so hoping to see a flickering heart beat and growth Smile

MarthasHarbour · 18/09/2013 11:57

its all good nobodies Smile

total masses of good luck today.

kjh i meant to say, i texted my pisshead friend and told her to keep quiet as her detective skills were correct - she said she was joking and didnt really think i was pg!! Angry but she is really chuffed for me! i also blabbed to my good friend on the tram yesterday who totally bought my excuses on Saturday night - so dont worry Kjh i am as bad as you! Grin

i also told my boss yesterday which is good as i now have that scan tomorrow, he was visibly thrilled for me which was lovely Smile he has also promised to keep schtum until i say so

does anyone here have any school age children? DS has just started reception and i am so overwhelmed by the school run, i do the pick ups at 3.30 (he goes to breakfast club in morning) and it is every man/woman for himself... all those barging mums are just terrifying Shock does it get any easier???

CbeebiesIsMyLife · 18/09/2013 12:38

My 2 are younger than school age (eldest starting nursery in jan), but when I was childminding I used to do the school run. My advice would be to hang back (or turn up a little later) be happy to be the last parent picking up and you can avoid thoes pushy elbowing mums.

fod27 · 18/09/2013 12:41

Thanks martha I needed to know I has something in place to get things in hand... Good luck total

Tomkat79 · 18/09/2013 12:57

Thinking of you total. Glad scan went ok nobodies.

Ha martha your post made me laugh. Welcome to the school run...your life will never be the same again! DS has just started year 2. It's a bit better this year as his classroom is on the edge but last year and his reception year was a nightmare. Abandoned buggies, scooters, pushy parents etc and what seemed to be no organization whatsoever. I used to walk home traumatised wondering how my poor little boy would survive the day.

Made me feel very old as I kinda think it was much better when the teacher blew a whistle and we all lined up outside and walked in calmly, hanging up our coats on the way.

In all seriousness yes it does get easier. Mums get friendlier and by year 1 you'll be a mum barging the newbies out of the way. I'm joking Wink

That's great news katatonic and the other good scans (sorry struggling to keep up!)

Thinking of you total total hope it goes ok.

Welcome to the newbies, this is a good place to freak out and express how we really feel!

We move on Friday! Am so excited, got packers coming tomorrow and will prob be offline for sometime as we wait for new internet connection (I've still got an old fashioned phone!)

shellsocks · 18/09/2013 13:45

Im suddenly struggling to keep up with all the scans...preggo brain must really be kicking in Confused so congrats to everyone who had scans this week and good luck to those with scans soon. I totally understand those fears from the early weeks, it's so all encompassing Hmm

Best of luck today total and saggy make sure you look after yourselves the next few days and rest up and I am hoping for good news for you both x

GardenWorm · 18/09/2013 13:45

Ha Ha Pink I just had a butchers too....if I ever start sounding like PramQueen please shoot me (virtually of course!) Grin

IBelieveInPink · 18/09/2013 14:45

too much to try and read on my phone. Will have to wait til another day.

Shell - I totally have preggo brain too. Can't concentrate at all. These weeks are getting longer I'm sure.

Managed to terrify myself completely. Not only am I stressing about the enormous hippo baby I am growing - but we had our first nct class last night. Did you know newborns need to be fed 12 times a day? Wtf? How do you ever get anything done? shows shameful lack of knowledge about newborns
Am also most depressed that I am now very unlikely to have the clever hypnobirthing I had planned. Not that I mind, I wasn't too set on one way or another tbh- its more the fact that I can't plan things now! I can deal with change as it happens, but not 2 months in advance - too much time to think worry about things!!

ImLouiseOhYes · 18/09/2013 14:50

IBIP I breastfed 2 babies and I don't remember feeding either of them 12 times a day. And they were both heifers! There wouldn't have been enough hours in the day to feed DD 12 times a day! She slept fron 11 till 7 frim around a week old! Confused

ImLouiseOhYes · 18/09/2013 14:52

Sorry, its me. Saggy. Grin

IBelieveInPink · 18/09/2013 15:10

Ooh saggy - I want one of those please. Im sure the nct lady is just there to terrify you into thinking baby is wonderful when it arrives and isn't anywhere near as bad as she said!
It was quite amusing that DH made a suggestion to stop baby crying, and she asked the group if they thought this was child abuse!!!!
The group disagreed thank goodness! :s

Irishmammybread · 18/09/2013 15:13

IBIP my DS bfed every two hours for the first 4 weeks of life, the first time he slept for over 3 hours I woke up panicking and had to check he was still breathing!
Martha I have a DD primary school age,a DD highschool age and a DS university age! Only 2 school runs though,DS sorts himself out!
Nobodies glad your scan went well.
Mine was good too, my baby is growing and now measures 8w4d . I got to listen to the heartbeat which was amazing, they don't do that at the EPU, with a private scan they have more time I suppose. I know it's still early days but for today I'm definitely still pregnant!

pink you could still avoid a CS plenty of time yet Smile DS didn't feed much at all for two days then it was pretty much constant for 36 hours till the milk came in, I won't lie it was completely crazy! Me and DH were in shock Grin But the constant feeding didn't last long and he was feeding every 3-4 hours after a week or so and slept thru from 4 weeks so it doesn't have to last long, but will feel like you are in the middle of a crazy dream for a while WinkGrin If you bottle feed it might not happen as I think it's cos there is no milk so they don't get enough from the colostrum so need to feed all the time Smile

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 18/09/2013 15:49

No im still me. I just NC for another thread and I forgot who I was! Blush

RainbowConnections · 18/09/2013 15:49

Hi all. Great to read the good scan news. x

shellsocks · 18/09/2013 15:52

And yeah irish the first time DS slept thru I jumped up in horror at 5am convinced something must be wrong with him...I just lay there listening to him till he woke up ConfusedSmile

Pentagon · 18/09/2013 16:18

Great news on the scans nobodies and irish! Smile

total I hope it went well and you're feeling OK

ibip I don't mean to scare you but DD was on the breast every couple of hours in the first few weeks (and after that every 2-3 hours until she started solids). We didn't give her a dummy so it's very likely that she used me as one!Wink

Tomkat79 · 18/09/2013 17:13

Ibip my DS fed every hour for a bit. At one point I thought I'd never leave the house again. Miss those days very much and am looking forward to the time again. It will be fine x
