6-7 weeks pregnant, but foetus can't be found! Ectopic? Or something else?

I posted on here the other day as I was having some brown discharge. I believe that based on the date of my last period I am between 6 and 7 weeks. I haven't had any pain, just a bit of medium/dark brown discharge on my liner every day (which based on everyone's responses seems to be something relatively common).

I was given an ultrasound today but nothing was found. They did an internal and NOTHING was there - no sac, nothing. They said that I have not had nearly enough bleeding to have miscarried (I haven't had red blood or passed any tissue or had any pain). I still have pregnancy symptoms such as tiredness and nausea. They did a test and it was a strong positive (but I know the hormones would still be in my system anyway). I think it's extremely unlikely that I am less pregnant than I think (which would explain why nothing can be seen). My LMP started on 10 July and I had a positive test a week ago.

Surely if the foetus had died there would be an empty sac or something there?! They are worried that my pregnancy is ectopic so they are doing blood tests over the next few days to monitor my hormone levels to see if they're increasing. I am waiting for them to call me with today's blood test results - if they're high then I need to go back to hospital straight away.

I can't believe this is happened to me. Does anyone have any thoughts or any experience of this? I was reluctant to post this on the pregnancy forum as technically I am still pregnant :-( xxx

So glad to hear it's all looking good! For what it's worth, my cycles are usually 28-35 days, but DD1 is a day 29 baby, so sometimes these things happen!

Hope you have no more scares with this pregnancy!

Please can someone help me I'm driving myself insane I am 25 an found out I was pregnant on the 13th of September it was a planned pregnancy and we were very excited also very pleased to give my partners son from previous relationship a much wanted brother or sister!. On Wednesday of last week I had a bit of cramping so went to hospital was told to go to EPU next morning I did an first thing they said was likely ectopic but hasn't even ran tests, finally had a scan an there wasn't anything to see but at only 4wks I'm sure that was normal? There was however a cyst/sac on my left side outside the womb, My hcg level was 367 and 48hrs later only rose to 437 I no longer have pain I haven't had any bleeding but they have asked me to go in tommorow (Monday) so they can scan and confirm ectopic! I'm so confused as to what I'm to think and have got in a terrible state an I still feel all of the things I should be horrible smells sore breasts mood swings :s please someone reply even just with an opinion pls, sarah xx

Sarah Oh dear, so sorry to hear this - what time is your appointment today? It could be that at 4weeks, that was too early to see anything, so it may not be bad news. I don't have personal experience of ectopic pregnancy, but a close friend has. Her pregnancy tests all came up negative for weeks and her pregnancy was in a tube. The fact that you have a positive test is a good sign, as are all your other symptoms. The cyst outside your womb may be unrelated to your pregnancy - something you have had for a long time and would not have known about had it not been for the scan. Hope they will be able to reassure you today and that you feel better soon.

sarah, so sorry, I hope you got good news today. If it is bad news, there is an ectopic support thread in miscarriage/pg loss on here and also the ept website. You're probably better off starting your own thread rather than adding to this one as more people will see it. Thanks
