Feel very nervous writing this. But I'm in my bold "sod the doctor" mood. Anyone joining me?

Eyelash? (after all, I consider it to be you who got me here in the first place )

Anyone else?

Hi everyone, and hello and congratulations to those who've come on here in last few days. I've delivered two pieces of work this week that have been ongoing since beginning of Jan. Have given myself today with dd at chilminder to sort out the carnage that has been building up in the house since then, as have had no energy available for tidying. My office floor is carpetted with jigsaw pieces and ground up chalk. Can't face it just now, going for kip. Spent this morning with friend and her four week old. Oh my. Baby was gorgeous. When I held him up and he knocked against my tender, swollen knocker suddenly felt huge rush of mother lust and felt so excited was pregnant. Soooooo looking forward to not being so anxious with a newborn this time, and able to enjoy it. Just wondering if anyone's got any new changes to report? My hair looks like I've put several volumising products in. I haven't. The effect is a bit big and Dynasty-ish. Skin looking better though. Sending health and happiness to all.

Hello all. Hope you are all well and are having a lovely weekend.

We had another scan today as I had some bleeding on Thursday night and Friday morning. When the hospital checked on Friday morning turned out it was the cervical erosion again thank god but they offered me the scan for reassurance anyway.

Baby was throwing him/herself around which was amazing to watch on screen. ds1 came in first with the 'he's dancing' and it was fantastic to see. So relief all around. I have my proper dating scan on the 16th March.

As for symptoms - boobs massive and awful car sickness if I am not driving!

Diddums · 07/03/2004 19:50

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to hear fisil's news I am thinking of you.
I have had some orangey red discharge and have just spoken to the doctor still panicking though after last time but waiting to see what happens, will let everyone know.

Love to everyone

eyelash · 08/03/2004 08:38

Plenty of time next year for tidying mess

piglit · 09/03/2004 07:19

I had a tiny bit of bleeding on Sunday (fresh watery blood about the size of a 10p piece). It was after some particularly "energetic" rumpy pumpy (TMI, I know). I phoned the midwife at the hospital and she said probably cervical erosion, rest for a few days and it'll be fine. The bleeding seemed to have been one off spotting and I've had nothing since. No period pains or anything. Any advice? Please? I lay awake for 2 hours last night worrying.

Toots · 09/03/2004 09:44

Piglit, I'm sure I had this last time. Please don't worry too much.

Diddums, how is everything?

Harman, sounds like DH has got a few raging hormones himself!

Spod · 09/03/2004 11:45

hi piglet.... I had the same thing exactly a year ago when I was about 7 weeks pregnant with my dd. Everything turned out fine. spotting lasted for around a week, only light but its very worrying isnt it. I got n appointment for an early scan and we saw a heartbeat...perhaps you can get one in your area?

piglit · 09/03/2004 13:42

Thanks Spod. I've got a scan tomorrow morning. I went to see my GP and she suggested I come in for a doppler scan. However, she said it probably wouldn't pick anything up at 10 weeks. Unsurprisingly, it didn't pick anything up but she's arranged for me to have a scan tomorrow. Fingers crossed...

beansprout · 09/03/2004 15:03

Hi,
Have just found you all and am nearly ten weeks - due on 12th October. Called the hospital this morning and they said I would not have my booking appt for another 4-5 weeks - does this seem late to anyone?

Glad you are all out there

xx

eyelash · 09/03/2004 18:03

Piglet - I have had 4 bouts of spotting now all due to a cervical erosion. My hospital has checked each time for my reassurance (previous miscarriages) but so far all clear. They used that instrument which is used for smears to have a look at the cervix - a bit uncomfortable but still reassuring. A cervical erosion does sound worse than it actually is. Basically the outside of the cervix develops soft spongy cells which bleed easily particularly after sex. Normally the cells only appear in the womb. Hope that helps.

Welcome Beansprout.

eyelash · 10/03/2004 09:40

diddums and piglit - hope everything is ok.

Harman - poor you. It must be difficult as well with your other 3 children. Are things any better?

Beansprout - I might be completely wrong here but are you actually 9 weeks pregnant in which case a booking appointment in 4 to five weeks is within the time limit. I only say as I am due sometime betweem the 1 and 3 October so am 10 weeks plus 2/4 days. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hope all is well for everybody else.

Neuman · 10/03/2004 10:51

It's been really great reading the messages below, this is my first time on MN. I am due 26 Oct, first baby and have all the same anxious feelings about miscarriage and have been suffering with bad period cramps since I found out three weeks ago. All the books say it's normal but it still worries me. Also have come out with a bad case of spots on my cheek bones any advice on a safe remedy? does anyone use Tea Tree oil?

beansprout · 10/03/2004 11:18

Thanks eyelash. I'm 9 weeks 6/7 at the moment but found out at 4 weeks so feel like I have been waiting forever for this appointment. I know they vary so I guess I was hoping for one earlier rather than later. Reassuring to know it's still in the right time though, so thank you.

Piglit - how was your scan?

Neuman · 10/03/2004 11:22

Beansprout where are you having your scan? I am still waiting to find out when my appointment is going to be and hope I don't have to wait till 14 weeks!

miffy2 · 10/03/2004 11:56

neuman, welcome to the board (I am a newbie too) and congratulations.
I am not sure about the tea tree oil, only wanted to say that I have had spots break out on my nose and under my chin and I have not had spots since I was a teenager (a loooong time ago) so I am hoping they will clear up soon.

As for a scan, where I live we only get one scan, a dating one, and it is at 18-20 weeks. So long away. Hopefully will get to hear heartbeat at booking-in appt at 12 weeks though - only 4 to go!

beansprout · 10/03/2004 12:25

Neuman - am still waiting to hear. Yesterday they told me it would be "4-5 weeks". The annoying bit is that I referred myself at 5 weeks but the hospital never go the form from the doctors. This only came to light when I called the hospital last week and I have basically had to chase both doc and hospital to get this done!! This is my first and it does not bode well! I keep telling myself that I will be cared for by a midwife not an administrator.....

On the tea tree oil, I trained as an aromatherapist and have always considered tea tree to be safe for pregnant people. A few dabs on spots will be fine. The oils to watch out for are those that can cause "uterine spasms" but tea tree is ok to use externally.

Turtle35 · 10/03/2004 12:27

Miffy2 - good luck on the booking appointment, I know what you mean about the spots, I feel like a teenager again and it was many years ago for me too! I didn't find my GP very helpful when I had my first appointment with her and I am feeling guilty about changing but this is my first pregnancy and it's a BIG deal for me and she spent most of the time talking about her own pregnancy! Do you think I should change or not bother? by the way I changed my nickname to my real nickname and my age!

Turtle35 · 10/03/2004 12:30

Beansprout thanks for the advice, most appreciated! Gosh that is a worry about the dr and hospital appointment, that would make me a bit nervous also, makes me think I should check also as have heard nothing but have been told by GP's office that the letter went two weeks ago!

beansprout · 10/03/2004 12:48

It is a bit concerning. These first weeks are passing so slowly. Just want to get to 12 weeks and was looking forward to the reassurance of a scan. When I went to the doctors orginally I saw a locum who knocked my urine sample all over her desk!! She then couldn't give me any info at all on hospitals so had to go away and suss it all out myself. So far not very good! I hear it gets better!

Also, am at work and want to kill certain people today - any tips?!! I'm not very good at pretending I am all serene when I am not!! Grrr!!

xx

beansprout · 10/03/2004 12:52

Also, Neuman, I had the cramps thing too, and it's horrible. I was just rushing to the toilet every 5 mins thinking "this is it". Apparently it is normal, your little one is bedding in and your womb muscles are stretching. The only thing that has felt like this in the past is period pain. It's horrible but lots of us have it. Hope it settles down soon for you. You have my full sympathy

Turtle35 · 10/03/2004 12:56

Beansprout, I have this week off work thank God! I am feeling so hormonal and very agitated at the smallest things, my advice is count to 100 and go for a walk if you can get away from your desk or where ever you are and try not to let others get the best of you, remember you have raging hormones and they probably don't know it! Good luck! I am more and more worried when I hear of stories about how poor the medical system can be. A friend of a friend who is 22 weeks has had some terribly advice from her GP!!

beansprout · 10/03/2004 13:01

Thanks Turtle. I know I am tired and emotional at the moment. My sister in law lost her 17 day old baby girl on Friday, so the last few days have been really difficult all round. Plus my sickness is just the all day variety, so I'm surprised that more people aren't getting on my nerves!! Just want to go home really but hey, get to go into a meeting instead. Am going to take your advice of a quick stroll beforehand though. Beansprout34 x
