oh my goodness, I'm next! Well, supposedly - I was 10 days late with DD and expect to be late again...but you never know...and they moved my due date to Oct.28th even though the way I calculated it all along my due date should be Nov.2nd

saggy well done on making it to the 12-week mark! I waited before announcing it - last time I did when I was 20 weeks (I was super paranoid, family knew of course and some close friends but work and not so close friend were told afterwards). This time I couldn't hide it so easily so told people after my 12 weeks scan and Downs screening results (so 10 days after my scan). I had the Harmony test too so essentially knew at 12-weeks but wanted to wait for the combined test results too.

I've managed to c&p on my iphone, first time ever!

Just been the GP and been signed off for 4 weeks but been told I probably won't make it back to work Hmm haven't told them yet, god knows how that will go down Hmm The pain has got so bad it's permanent now all day and night and my back is actually swollen Shock so I think I knew this was coming, just a bit of a shock as I've never been signed off work before.

IBelieveInPink · 30/08/2013 11:32

Oh bless you shell, that sounds horrific!! You poor thing!
But also - woo! Maternity leave starts here - mini yay? :)

Lieslvontrapp · 30/08/2013 11:38

Great scan news from Wednesday and absolutely fab news from Anda yesterday! A huge congrats on the arrival of Charlotte and Sophie! I hope you're all doing well and if you haven't already you get to see them soon! Fantastic job lady and don't be hard on yourself!

Welcome martha & congrats on the bfp and loving the posifrickintivity!

Oh shell can't believe you've been signed off for 4 weeks. It must be bad. Hope work are ok with the news.

I think those stats aren't the latest. I'll see if I can find them now.

GardenWorm · 30/08/2013 11:57

Shell that sounds horrific you poor thing, the things we do for babies eh? I hope not going into work makes it a little easier for you. Does it sort itself relatively quickly after birth? X

Hi guys

I'm so newly pregnant that my pee stick is still wet but can I join this lovely thread?

Just read all 29 pages sat in the hairdressers with my head covered in bleach and a bag. What a great positive read.

martha we are v close in dates, edd 9/5 for me.

Congratulations anda. I love how you can read all these posts from total strangers and feel so close. The support on the MC thread got me through May, and the the TTC thread and now this one :-)

MarthasHarbour · 30/08/2013 15:15

Thank you all so much for the welcome party! Flowers And hello to my new pregnancy buddy tomkat Smile

DH and i have been off with DS today - actually we have been on holiday with the inlaws which drove me a little bit Confused but we were bliddy well drinking red wine and eating blue cheese every night [shocked] but now we are on detox (and have a jolly good reason to). God knows what i have done to little bean, the little one is probably having a hungover nap Wink

Although i have put my EDD as 7 May i know i will be having a ELCS, as when i was PG last year my consultant had me booked in, i reckon he will be fine this time again (i had a EMCS with DS1 and my consultant has been really good about it), so i am thinking circa 30 April for this li'l bean.

christine how are you doing today? did you speak to the MW or just put your feet up for a rest?

Hope you are all well, thinking of anda and her girls today Smile

BirdsDoIt · 30/08/2013 15:20

Welcome martha and tomkat! (And tomkat glad to hear you POAS on a Friday in obedience to the rules! Smile)

anda I hope you're safely ensconced in your own room now and have had a chance for a cuddle with your lovely girls.

Can someone add me to the stats? Feeling nervous about it still but I went to the midwife for first appt on Thursday so I guess if it's official on the NHS then it doesn't do any more harm to write it on mumsnet...

Birdsdoit: 1MMC, 0DC, EDD 6 April

saggy woo hoo to 12 weeks!! I think I'm going to wait for my 12 week scan first but that's because I still don't really believe I'm pg even after 8 week scan!

shell you poor thing. I hope your work is good about it - and hopefully with more rest it'll ease off. Are you allowed to take painkillers for it?

BlackholesAndRevelations · 30/08/2013 17:02

Haha just realised I'm not on the stats still!!

Blackholes: 2 MC, 2 DC, EDD 25 December!

Welcome tomkat Grin

BlackholesAndRevelations · 30/08/2013 17:03

Oops should have said, can someone add me please?!

shell- sounds painful, poor you. DO NOT feel guilty about work though. Do whatever you can to ease the pain. Hugs x

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 30/08/2013 17:06

oh shell you poor thing, you must be in agony :( but as pink said, mini woop for starting maternity leave early? did you manage to tell work?

tomkat congrats on your bfp yay!! what a happy friday this must be for you yay! :) :)

i had my whooping cough jab this morning, was fine at the time but my arm is feeling pretty bruised inside. also had my 28wk appointment with the gp and all seems to be good phew! are they meant to weigh us / measure bumps? my very hot doctor didn't

MarthasHarbour · 30/08/2013 17:10

ooh yes shell i meant to say - my GP signed me off 3 weeks early when i was pg with DS. I felt guilty as hell for about a week then thought 'sod it' it was them that made me poorly in the first place. Just use that time to rest up and muster all that energy you will need in the coming weeks.

I am only 4+2 but already i feel wiped out - i cannot remember if this is normal or not.. i know i felt like this with DS but not so much with the other 2 PGs (taking this as sort of a good sign Hmm)

BumpKitty · 30/08/2013 18:35

janie me too we can be dead arm buddies :) I had GP appt at 25 weeks and mw at 28 weeks, the GP didn't weigh me, they don't weigh you ever I don't think. My GP did measure my bump BUT the mw said she shouldn't have and they disregard any measurements the GPs do!

Forester · 30/08/2013 20:28

I've just updated to add me and the last few posts. Think there's quite a few people missing at the moment.

Welcome Tomkat - glad you could join us.

I've had a pretty miserable evening so far. I was physically sick a bit earlier - was worried I was going to be sick on the tube on my way home but managed to make it home. I've generally felt queasy in this and my previous two pregnancies - but this is the first time I've actually been physically sick with "morning" sickness which seems a bit bizarre. Combined with a splitting headache and a miserable 4yo and a DH at work I've been feeling a bit sorry for myself. But DD is in bed, dinner in overn and I'm about to relent and have a couple of paracetamol and catch up on some MasterChef so all should be well shortly. Grin

MarthasHarbour · 30/08/2013 21:29

Sad forester dont know if this helps, but i used to nibble on rough oatcakes (the ones from Waitrose but they do them everywhere) that seemed to quell the nausea, although i was never physically sick. In a weird way i am hoping for some kind of sickness this time, it means the hormones are doing their job. Hope you get a good night sleep Smile

Just been on the phone to my mum, i am not going to tell her for a few weeks yet (maybe circa 8-9 weeks) but we were talking about my sister's wedding in December, i was saying that i still dont know what to wear, she was saying that i really suit the 50s swing dresses all nipped in at the waist - it was sooo hard to keep tight lipped and say that i would be glad of a yashmak if it is comfy!! Grin

shellsocks · 30/08/2013 21:34

Thanks for the well wishes everyone, this has been a tough week lots of tears but feeling a lot better having something sorted at least Smile I told work and it was ok, gonna go in for an hour tomorrow and sort out my desk/handover notes etc.

pink it should feel good but it doesn't feel like maternity leave, I'm pretty much housebound (and other people's houses!) and need help looking after DS so it's really odd! I'm praying this baby comes at 37w....gonna be on the pineapple/vindaloo from then on Wink

garden it cleared up straight away with DS but it wasn't this bad so I just have to hope I guess Hmm

birds just paracetamol I'm afraid Confused

Welcome tomkat and martha and congrats Smile Hope you have really uneventful pregnancies Smile

Well done for putting yourself on the list blackholes, about time WinkGrin

forester glad to hear of all the symptoms but sorry you are feeling bad...double edged sword isn't it Confused

shellsocks · 30/08/2013 21:37

Just had a thought, has anyone heard from motorcyclemama lately? Hope all is ok. Sorry if we have I might have lost track.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/08/2013 21:39

Ooh, those jabs sound painful, but they are in a good cause!
Sorry you were sick Forester I haven't up chucked at all but have felt terrible! I coped by telling myself that every bout of sickness or other symptom is a positive thing, and means the PG is going well!
Anda I hope you are feeling better today lovely, and that you have
had a lovely day getting to know your gorgeous girls.

Ive had a lovely day today. I got an unexpected day off work, which is always nice, I was treated to lunch which was an unexpected pleasure, although my appetite is still not what it should be, and Ive spent the afternoon and evening, messing about in a boat with my BFF and her lovely DD. I am soooo tired now! Grin

OP posts:
JanieLovesLuckySocks · 30/08/2013 21:48

Shell I was thinking the same about motor. Haven't heard from lucky or thunder either. Hope all is well girlies x

Rockchick1984 · 30/08/2013 21:48

Welcome to the newbies, and congratulations!!

Martha I was at a wedding today (am 14 weeks but complete lack of tummy muscles means I look at least 20 weeks) and a 50's style dress actually was the best option I found - from the front it looked like I wasn't pregnant, it was only from the side and even then it looked better than a looser style did. I just looked chunky if I wore something less structured, bump not big enough for that yet Grin

Shell think I missed what is wrong with your back, but please don't feel guilty for needing to take time off work. When I was having DS I had to spend most of my pregnancy signed off and felt very guilty until my area manager pointed out that it was actually easier once they knew I wouldn't be back until after mat leave as they can arrange cover for long-term sick leave, if they don't know how long you're going to be off they can't plan as much!

shellsocks · 30/08/2013 21:59

What a nice way to celebrate 12w saggy Smile

I figured thunder is just laying low janie as she said something like that a while back, hope so Smile Not sure abt lucky maybe on holiday? but I thought we had heard from her fairly recently Smile

rock I have PGP and it's effecting my back quite badly at the mo...thanks for the reassurance abt work Smile
