New thread ladies!

Happy birthday for tomorrow Bod sounds like you have a lovely day lined up!
DH is looking after DS tomorrow so I can go for a trip into York and a mooch round the shops. First stop will be a child free latte in Betty's!

Evening all - really struggling to keep up with the thread at the moment sorry!
Baby tea bag is clearly a boy as he is welling me in the bladder at every opportunity. His brother is full of cold and waking up in the night so I am knackered at the moment and going to bed at 9pm for last few nights.

Good to hear our next thread babies will be here soon Anda

Shell sorry to hear the PGP is getting worse, mine is still just in my pubic bone, but isn't getting any worse but it's horrid thinking about being in pain for the next few months.

Fx for you KJ - I had some random early bleeds around 4-5weeks too definitely not out just yet.

Hi Forester - congratulations on your BFP! I agree that MMC does take all the excitement out of being pg. but "today you are pregnant"

anda that's fab and what a great weight too, must be a real load off....exciting Grin

Yeah full refund motorcycle so me and my friend gonna go for a real slap up meal instead Smile Yeah it's getting pretty bad, quite upset at how if might effect DS Hmm

Hi forester welcome and congrats Smile hope you have a very uneventful pregnancy x

Glad there's been no more bleeding kjh hope that continues Smile

Hey choc it's when the baby turns and squirms that my bladder goes mad, it's handling the kicks ok Grin. sorry you have PGP too, feel for you this sucks Hmm

BumpKitty · 13/08/2013 20:07

anda that's ace! Is it Ethel or Marjorie that's the 8lber?! I think the estimated weights are hugely inaccurate though - where's bod she'll know! My mum's birthday was 30th August and she was amazing and I'm sure your girls will be too. Still 16 days for them to arrive impromptu though Grin

kjh5 no more bleeding is good, I'm sending you some positivity x

welcome forester yeah pg after MMC sucks, are you having an early scan?

shell i've got an achey pelvis too :( it's since I've been back at work so must be down to my office chair. I'm going to google what will help.

saggy i have fudge overload! You are single handedly responsible Grin we are all very impressionable, maybe I should start another random craving - how about cheese slices?!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 13/08/2013 20:35

ooh anda a real date is so exciting! cripes have you managed to come round to the idea that they really will be here soon? hope so :)

kj hope evrything is ok for you, good sign that the bleeding has stopped. got everything crossed for a sticky one

hi forseter, welcome to the gang :)

shell sorry to hear you're in such pain :( and that Neil has cancelled on you. a slap up meal sounds bloody lovely though :)

choc sorry to hear your little girl is poorly, hope she gets well soon and lets you get a full nights sleep. my sleep has been really disturbed this last week or two...not sure what the reason. bloody annoying though, i'm knackered during the day then wide awake at night grrr

i had a full body pregnancy massage tonight, was totally lush, i even got my ears massaged mmmm. off to bed now i think, hoping i'll sleep well. even made myself a hot chocolate yummy. bump now i NEED cheese!!!

IBelieveInPink · 13/08/2013 20:41

Bump - not cheese slices, but I could sooo go for cheese strings right now! How random, I don't usually like them....

My hip pain seems to be turning into pelvis pain - far more on one side than the other though. Does that sound right? I was standing up earlier and it made me squeal an cry. I keep mentioning it to midwife, and she just says 'we''ll see how it progresses'. Would rather it didn't if I'm honest!

BumpKitty · 13/08/2013 21:09

Oh no ibip she should refer you to a physio now! I only get right hip pain but I have a dodgy hip anyway so is more likely to be the extra 2 stone I'm carrying! My pain is pelvis or kicked in the fanjo type :(
Cheese strings you say... I do actually have some of those! The power of suggestion :)

BumpKitty · 13/08/2013 21:09

janie I would kill for a massage right now!

shellsocks · 13/08/2013 21:51

Hey bump, pink and anyone else starting off with pelvic problems...I really hope this doesn't progress for you Hmm Last PG I saw the physio quite early on so maybe around the pain you are feeling now and was told:

  • Lots of pelvic floor exercises, both types (long and short hold)
  • Don't sit still or stand for long periods of time
  • When getting up from office chair etc, swivel round then stand up with legs together - same for getting out of bed/car etc
  • use pregnancy pillow in bed
  • Wear a support as often as possible
  • Try to avoid hoovering/pushing a trolley etc
Will post if I think of more!
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 13/08/2013 22:46

Janie I am so jealous! Sad I was booked in for a 70 minute Swedish massage with head and foot massage thrown in last week on holiday. SIL told the masseuse that I was PG, that was the end of that! I got a 10 minute Indian head massage! Whoopdee do nt!
I was really gutted!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/08/2013 07:00

shell thanks for the pelvic pain advice. mine was worse but somehow got gradually better but i still feel it now and again. the only thing my MW advised was to put a plastic bag on my car seat so that it's easier to get in and out and swivel into place.

saggy don't fret, only a couple more weeks and you can be massaged into a state of absolute bliss. my place won;t touch you until after 12 weeks, there was a reason but i can't remember it though. better safe than sorry though eh. in the meantime, fill up a foot spa (or tesco plastic basin in my case!) with some nice hot water and bubbles and whack on a face pack and eat some sweets mmmmm

IBelieveInPink · 14/08/2013 07:27

Thanks shell. You have been far more help than my midwife so far! I think I have been doing some of those but will try them all. What sort of support do i need to get? Is that just the band that goes round your bump?

Janie - at home foot spa sounds heaven. How frowned at do you think I would get if I rocked up at the office with one of those?! :)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/08/2013 07:49

Haha pink I've been neat tempted to bring my tesco basin to work!! Surely that should be in the risk assessment somewhere?! Oh and did your tongue bar ever appear??!

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 14/08/2013 07:49

Nearly*

IBelieveInPink · 14/08/2013 08:05

Nope! No idea where that's gone! Ah well. Hopefully I will find it whenever I next clear out the boxes under the bed or something :)

andadietcoke · 14/08/2013 09:15

janie and saggy now I really want a massage. Might be my task for this afternoon to try and book something!

So far I've largely avoided PGP. Thought it was starting a few times but when I went back to using my dream genii pillow it stopped again. Definitely try and get a referral sooner rather than later.

Janie not really got my head round it yet. DH and his dad have been wallpapering the 'nursery' this week and every time I go in there I get completely freaked out. Absolutely can't bear to put the cots up and everything is still at my parents' anyway. They told me yesterday they'll keep me in for three days probably, so maybe my dad and DH can magically build cots and things when we know everything is okay.

Bump it's Marjorie that's the 8lber. She apparently doesn't like to share - she's taking up about three quarters of the space and poor Ethel is curled up bottom left. They may well be the 30th if there are lots of emergencies the day I'm booked in!

ibip if I go into labour early I've got to get in quite quickly and then they'll scan me on arrival to check the position. If Twin 1 is still breech then they'll do a section at some point depending on how dilated I am. If she's moved then I would have the option to try naturally I think.

Pentagon yes, relieved to have a plan. Just a case of waiting now and worrying about movement. Two weeks tomorrow! Not excited per se - don't think I will be until they're here safely.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/08/2013 09:28

Ooh Anda its sooooo exciting! Grin
I remember the horror that I was going to have an actual baby really soon, but it magically disappears when they arrive!
When I let myself think about it, I can't wait! That new baby smell, those little fingers...

IBelieveInPink · 14/08/2013 09:39

Diet - I'm so excited for you. That's okay that you not excited, very understandable to still be scared, but I am going to be your surrogate excited person!!! Eeek!

I have my first proper craving this morning. I have to have a salad cream and cress sandwich. I am going to go on a hunt at lunch to find one. Can't wait. Will also have some cheese strings with it.

andadietcoke · 14/08/2013 09:41

Heehee saggy whenever I let myself think there may actually be two babies at the end of this I go into blind panic about being able to cope! Also, in a quite brilliant stroke of timing DH isn't allowed the w/c 2nd September off work as paternity leave as he's a teacher and you can't take paternity leave immediately after a school holiday. This means that I will probably be discharged from hospital on the 1st and he'll be back at work on the 2nd. Awesome timing!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/08/2013 09:49

Oh cripes! Do you have lots of other support? I'm assuming they will release him as soon as possible?

andadietcoke · 14/08/2013 10:01

My mum's going to try and take the week off. He won't be able to take any time off that week!

WhatWillSantaBring · 14/08/2013 10:15

Can they do that to your DH? Surely not?? I might have to go and research because that sounds like a shit rule if you've actually JUST HAD YOUR BABIES- its not like you had your babies at the start of August and have saved up the leave to use when you want.

You will cope fine because you're a mum and mums can manage anything if you let youself believe in yourself.

saggy - stop it, you're making me well up. Scan doom a plenty this week Sad. Got to go on my own, as my friend can't make it either and there is no-one else around I can think to ask.

For those with sore hips/pelvises (bump, pink) (not necessarily the SPD kicked in the fanjo pain) - I found this pg and last that I needed a wedge cushion on my chair at work and in the car. I was in bits by wk 10 with this one, one new wedge cushion later and its fine again. No idea why, but it really helps.

TeaAndANatter · 14/08/2013 10:18

Ridiculous question, but has anyone any tips for totally ignoring the pg for a few weeks until it's safer? I want to not think about it at all, and the next few weeks feel like they'll take forever, but I seem to keep thinking of it all the time. Arg! Any tips very much appreciated. Trying to throw self into work.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 14/08/2013 10:22

That's awful about your dh, Anda. I can understand that week 1 is really important for classes etc BUT... nothing is more important than being there to help you with your babies. Sucks. Hopefully you'll be good with help from your mum.

I've been getting a bit of hip and pelvis pain and keep asking begging bloody dp to go up to the loft and get my pregnancy pillow. He still hasn't bothered. Sad dont understand it as he's very keen on me resting/ not overdoing it with the kids, keeps tellingvme to take it easy, don't forget you're growing a baby etc etc... So why won't he get me my bloody pillow which would actually directly help?!

WhatWillSantaBring · 14/08/2013 10:23

anda here the link to the section on when paternity leave can start. To me that seems pretty unequivocal. As a teacher, presumably your DH has union membership - can't he ask them for help? I really can see the school's point of view if its to stop fathers taking an extra two weeks when the baby was born at the start of the holidays, but not otherwise.

Or, could he go back for one day and then start PL - that way it is not being added to the school holiday?

BlackholesAndRevelations · 14/08/2013 10:25

Sorry I should have said, being there for his babies, getting to know them and being a daddy etc, not helping you with them!
