Hi Ladies,

Can I just ask how many cycles you had to go through until you got your BFPs??

Thanks in advance x x

Hi there - this thread is a little old. If you want to find out how long it takes to get pregnant, we’ve got more information here. MNHQ

2nd cycle both times. I had just turned 25 when DS was born and I will be 27.5 when DC2 arrives. The women in my family have a tendecy to conceive very quickly.

MrsOakenshield · 17/07/2013 12:25

just shagging - took months (I had no idea what my cycle was).
Using an ovulation kit - immediately

thegoldenfool · 17/07/2013 12:28

at age 36 first month, at age 38 2 months

no special planning apart from folic acid and a lot of (fun) sex - for the 2nd one targetting approx ovulation worked out using MN calender

StuckOnARollercoaster · 17/07/2013 12:29

6 months...
First 3 months we weren't actively trying - just stopped taking precautions.
Last 3 months I was jumping on him every other day when I thought I was in my fertile period, but still a fairly relaxed approach (was on the 'just shagging' thread in the conception section)
Was just starting to think about maybe looking into things a bit more when we got the bfp. Didn't want to leave it too long because of my age, was 37...

Gerty1002 · 17/07/2013 12:39

9 months - kept a note of cycle length but they were incredibly irregular (between 26 days and 65!) so we just dtd every couple of days except when on my period. Due to irregularity and other symptoms we started investigating for polycycstic ovaries, but halfway through I got my BFP Smile so they signed me off without my answer. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I'm 25 and DP is 24, otherwise fit and healthy. Currently 33+5 :).

9 cycles and a natural conception with DD1: 18 natural cycles then 6 cycles with Clomid for dd2 (2 years in total).

I was aged 26 and then 29 when they were born. DH is dropping some seriously heavy hints that he is feeling broody (dd2 is now 15mo). I however, cannot quite face 'TTC' again. If any more babies come along for us, then they are going to have to be happy accidents!

I am so genuinely thankful for the 2 blessings that I have. Infertility/subfertility/secondary infertility are just horrible.

It took 18 months to have our first successful pregnancy, but had four MCs/ chemical pregnancies during that time Sad. On average it probably took four months to get a BFP each time. I did get horrendously stressed with 'trying' during those 18 months. Since then, we've got pregnant first try, twice - one ended in another MC, the second one is kicking happily in my tummy at 26 weeks Grin

Good luck and try not to stress with timelines - it'll happen in good time, and for some people it does take a while.

StillPukin · 17/07/2013 13:45

1st time; 4 months
2nd time; 6 months
3rd time; 3 yrs

Just over a year - one early mc about 9 months or so in - but we found out I have a medical condition that made me either infertile or unable to carry a pregnancy actually. Once I got the right meds then it was very easy. I also have really irregular cycles - poss a side affect of my condition (hashimotos), and the mc we think was due to my body having literally no progesterone - so the first three months with my pg now I took progesterone to help hold the pg.

we also fell pg when we decided to stop trying for a bit and get through xmas having a few drinks and not stressing about it- we both stopped worrying about alcohol etc and let our hair down, and lo and behold...!

cathpip · 17/07/2013 13:52

3 months with ds, 1 month with dd. we are trying for no3 its been 8 months so far, I miscarried 2 months ago, at least I know I can still get pregnant but am starting to get quite disheartened and feel like sex is a chore ( not helped by the fact that twin is overdue with her first ).

MultipleMama · 17/07/2013 13:57

Straight away with all 4 pregnancies. We stopped using the condoms and within a few DTD sessions. Boom there's baby. I had one multiple PG and currently PG with 2nd set. Apparently both DH and I are really fertile.

Christelle2207 · 17/07/2013 13:57

13 months of opks, charting, temping and the rest. However clomid worked first time- pleased I still have 5 months' supply in my drawer if I fancy no. 2!

Erato · 17/07/2013 14:08

Straight away with DC1 (at 35) - work in progress, currently 18 weeks. We didn't do anything much beforehand to prepare - I was taking a B complex for stress which includes B6 and folic acid, and charting my cycles (just start of period, not EWCM or anything complex), but that's about it.

fishandlilacs · 17/07/2013 14:09

TerraNotSoFirma · 17/07/2013 14:17

purplemurple1 · 17/07/2013 15:15

About a yr and half. We went to the drs after a year and I needed hormone tablets to make me ovulate, with tests, diagnosis etc it took 6months to start ovulation and we conceived that month.

BurbGirl2013 · 17/07/2013 15:23

It took 4 months but even then felt like forever. Of course can?t fully share pain of ladies who?ve taken years, but the moment you actively start trying and it doesn?t happen you experience the utter hell- going through the repeated stages, playing the waiting/guessing/testing game, the huge disappointment and questions each month when ti doesn?t happen, convincing yourself you may/Are P when deep down you know you?re probably not.. so can feel anyone?s pain!

I gave up my daily coffees, cut down on booze massively, had lots of pure fruit smoothies and wheatgrass shots, took a mad concoction of vitamins and supplements, ahd been going to gym more , got myself new pets to chill out and booked fertility acupuncture- by my first session I was already P.

Not sure exactly what did it? think month it did knowing I was seeing my acupuncture guy just chilled me massively as well as having 2 cuddly new animals to ?mother?!
best of luck & baby dust to all x

JuicyFatSteak · 17/07/2013 15:34

Writer, what's your weight like? How long have you been trying for?

Solo · 17/07/2013 15:44

12 years=mmc.

  • 2 more years= Ds.
  • 6 years = mc (very early).
  • 1 year = mc.
  • 1 year = Dd.
CityGal29 · 17/07/2013 15:59

Wink

PumpkinPie2013 · 17/07/2013 16:09

I'm 26 and 21 weeks pg with dc1. Conceived on 4th cycle of trying.

We didn't do any charting or anything.

I always feel so sad for people who try for ages Sad. Even 4 months felt like a long time but it's nothing compared to some.

Strangely, I though I'd conceived during cycle 3 but hadn't. Cycle 4 I thought I had no chance as it was a v stressful time with losing a close friend and Ofsted. I was about 4 days before my period was due when I decided to 'use up' my spare first response test. Took the test at work during lunch convinced it would be negative. Was stunned to see the second line!! I did about 6 tests in total to confirm it!

So never assume it won't happen during a particular cycle because it just might! X
