Hooray isitme! Keep us posted!

Thanks zing for all the lovely adviceSmile.

Reebok · 15/07/2013 19:08

Thanks zing for the advice....ooh exciting isitme! Let us know what happens!

Tomdaley, keep at it! It may help.

Have had another day of contractions and wanting to go loo...this is seriously doing my head in! Contractions were 10 mins apart for three hours and now nothing. This baby doesn't want to come out! Due next Monday but scared I might have to be induced :(

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 19:36

reebok you have plenty of time!

the key is trying to keep calm and/ or distracted.

stress hormones are counter productive to whatever it is that starts off contractions.
which is why women who rush to hospital, having had irregular contractions or ones that are far apart, will find the contractions stopping completely!

I know it is hot and you are all antsy and fed up and uncomfortable and impatient, but do try cleaning the windows or alphabetizing your CDs, DVDs and books or going for walks or a swim.
do anything that will relax you!

oh and if you have small contractions help your body "Friends" - style by imagining that your "cervix is opening up like a beautiful flower"!Grin
if nothing else laughing at that (and Ross' face if you remember!) will reduce stress for sure!Grin

(I know it sounds woo and zen or whatever, but I swear it actually helped me!)

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 19:37

oh and happy to help - ask anything, anytime!

ZuluWarrior · 15/07/2013 19:49

I would like to join in with the grumpy hot ladies.
38+3 with #3 but I feel "entitled" to be in labour now as my other 2 were early Grin.
Should've assumed I'd be late and I wouldn't be so impatient!
Have been having sore BH for a week and a half. Bit of a show a week ago.

I'd forgotten how annoying this stage is!

Sending strength to all x

Isitme1 · 15/07/2013 19:56

Reebok
Zing is right again. I think thats why I dont dilate properly as I stress a lot.

Zulu all are welcome :)

Ive had my show now too :)
Got back ache and want to clean.
Off to do bins
X

TomDaleysTrunks · 15/07/2013 20:13

Oh isitme very excited for you! Sounds very promising!

TomDaleysTrunks · 15/07/2013 20:14

Pressed send too soon.

zulu welcome! Am 38+2 but had DD at 36 weeks so pretty fed up now. It's hard going isn't it?!

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 20:18

isitme1 that's great! yay!

you can all direct your stresses to me ( well, in small doses!) as I'm great at being stressed - my kids are flooding the bathroom as we speak....

Reebok · 15/07/2013 20:32

Thanks zing...that friends comment did make me actually laugh out loud. Will try to use it!

Isitme, how exciting!! Hopefully LO will be along shortly!

Isitme1 · 15/07/2013 20:43

Ive learnt to deal with stress after ds1. He has extra needs and they have been challenging lately.

Hes mainly tube fed (straight into stomach rather than nasal) he isn't a naughty boy but can be demanding when hes hot and bothered (like other kids)
I know when im labour I will be worrying about him.
I know I will have a few days in hospital as my bloods arent too good so will probably need a transfusion or 2.
Ds will really play up without me at home.
Hopefully I will be home that day and bloods come back ok.
Got very nice contraction as im writing this.
Keep me occupied lol

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 20:48

I'm here!

can I ask if you know if it is a boy or a girl?

any name ideas?

LittleMilla · 15/07/2013 21:07

Marking my place on here, 39 weeks.

DS2 and I've got my hand's full with a lovely DS who is 2.3 y/old.

1st sweep tomorrow. DS was breech but no one knew and I went 10 days over so they're keen to try and chivvy me along.

Been getting twinges and pains for a week and half now. Fed up.

Considering a sweaty bonk tonight to see if we can preempt the midwife Grin!

marushka82 · 15/07/2013 21:32

so all of you are having some sort of contractions? Boo, I don't have anything. Baby's moving a lot, I wake up 5 times a night with heartburn, sore hips or to go to the loo and I'm getting super cranky in the heat. And bored....so bored....
I'll be 39 weeks on Wednesday... tried to convince DH to DTD but he's too hot Hmm

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 21:43

marushka
tell him to man up!
he got that baby in there, he can bloody well help to get him/her out of there! Grin

he is too hot..pffftWink

marushka82 · 15/07/2013 21:49

haha, Zing, you're right! I'll try tonight, heheh.
I have a box of raspberry leaf tea in the kitchen but the thought of drinking anything warm is just unbearable...
Do you ladies go out of the house much in this heat?

Reebok · 15/07/2013 21:58

I second what zing said marushka. If I wasn't so turned off, I'd be asking DH to dtd tonight..but this heat and the fact I feel like the size of a house doesn't help.

Zing, had some more contractions and I did why you said...imagine the flower lol made me laugh in between the pain and breathing so thank you! ;)

Reebok · 15/07/2013 21:59

What not why...stupid auto correct.

Isitme1 · 15/07/2013 22:32

Reebok its a boy.
I like the name shaan but dh wont discuss names until baby is here n then he will leave it too me lol.

Dtd? Dh probably thinks he will hurt us. Plus my lady parts still hurt lol.

They are irregular so will see what comes of it.

X

Reebok · 15/07/2013 22:36

Aw I'm having a girl. That's a nice name! I have the same problem with names so we have decided we will decide once we are her.

Oh my lady bits feel sore whenever I sit on the loo...like there's so much pressure on it and baby could fall out lol...anyone else feel like that?

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 22:43

Reebok goodie about more contractions!

breathing through early contractions properly is really helpful in reducing the pain and feeling you are in control.
as the contraction is starting take a deep breath then breathe out slowly.
imagine you are trying to blow out lots of birthday candles in one go - that's the way to do it. repeat until pain eases up.

(as they get stronger there are of course pain relief options)

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 22:51

pressure is good - it helps with the thinning and dilating of the cervix

I know I'm ovulating, but bloody hell it feels like I have sympathy contraction pains!Grin

ah, I love giving birth!

ZingWidge · 15/07/2013 22:57

isitme1

jot down times of contractions and length of them - that gives you something to concentrate on, and you can see your progress.

(I did that, it was interesting reading it again later)

gertrudestein · 16/07/2013 06:31

Hello ladies, have been lurking on this thread. 41+3 and my waters broke early this morning. Am now in the bath while Dh sleeps - feeling a little lonely but water helps with the pain. Mw said i should prepare myself for 24 hrs or this!!!! Then they will induce me. They seem to yh

gertrudestein · 16/07/2013 06:32

They seem to think this baby won't come on his own so I'm preparing myself for the long haul. Any support: advice gratefully received! This is my first ....
