dellabob · 30/07/2013 12:41

can I join?
I'm 40 + 13 today :-(

Supposed to booked in for induction on Thursday but scared and having second thoughts.

Had 2 unsuccessful sweeps but 1cm dilated :-(
Feeling so defeated...will my body ever do its thing...?

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 13:15

della if it's your first then 1cm is not bad at all!

can I just say that EDDs based on last period are not always correct - if you ovulated around day 20-22 in your cycle rather then day 14 you are actually only a week over, possibly!

this what happened with my DS2 his due date should have been corrected to 6thJuly after scan, but they kept the period based 30th June - because 10 years ago our hospital's policy was that they would only go by scan based EDD if the difference was 8 days or greater. for me it was only 7 days difference...so technically he was induced when I was only 4 days over!
which is a good thing coz he was a fattyGrin (9lb 1oz)

don't beat yourself up, it will happen.
DTD tonight, see if that speeds up the process. I have my sore fingers crossed for you!Wink

Reebok · 30/07/2013 13:18

Welcome to the waiting room Della. I get what you mean about feeling defeated.

Really zing? Thanks for that info! Making me feel a bit better because I always had off periods so can't be sure when I ovulated.

TomDaleysTrunks · 30/07/2013 13:29

Quick check in. Dd keeping me busy. I'm exhausted. Not much news though, lots about 2 teaspoons of bloody tinged mucus. Not sure it's enough to count as losing a plug!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.
40+3

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 13:33

oh yes! oh yes!!

I have fairly regular ones - 28-30 days and I know DS1 was conceived the night before I was expecting my period!
(khm, you know, let's have a quickie before the painters come in type romance!)

so I actually conceived on day 27 and must have ovulated just a few days before!
and that is also why it took 3 weeks for POAS to show BFP!

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 13:34

tom yes it is the plug! yay!

how did you do it on a teaspoon though?Grin

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 13:35

well, part of it anyway. good news though!

HJBeans · 30/07/2013 13:52

Really sorry to hear of rubbish hospital MW, peacock - is lousy to get conflicting advice and be blamed personally for following another HCPs suggestion.

Had this earlier in my pg - movements had changed, so called triage and was told it was the quantity not the type of movement that mattered, so monitored it and all was fine. Also used home Doppler to reassure myself after I'd gotten all clear from triage based on my report. Then visited GP for something unrelated and she asked about baby's movements and I reported all that. She laid into me for not getting a trace, using a Doppler at home, and generally not taking things seriously enough which could 'put the baby at risk'. She rang up triage and said I was coming for a trace without even asking me if I was able to go. Was so upsetting to be treated like I was doing badly by my baby when I'd done exactly as I was instructed to.

Can't imagine how much more upsetting it would be to be treated that way now, with all the heightened emotion of waiting for birth, so really feel for you. How are you doing today?

dellabob · 30/07/2013 14:16

I'm wavering. I think I might postpone the induction and maybe wait a couple more days....just maybe something might happen....

Tom - good luck, all sounds promising

Reebok · 30/07/2013 14:36

Lol zing! Ahh that could be why I didn't get a positive straight away. I remember it taking a while and feeling quite disheartened that I wasn't pregnant when I in fact was.

Tom great news! Good luck!
Beans that's terrible! Sorry to hear that.

shineypeacock · 30/07/2013 16:35

Im better today thanks, i spoke to my community midwife who is lovely and she knew exactly who id seen at the hospital, and has encouraged me to complain ( so dont think its just me)

Just having an easy day here, bouncing on ball watching rubbish tv and being pawed by the cat, can they sense things? (Could be because of the weather tho, she does not go out in the rain! )

Making spicy fajitas for tea and think we will Dtd tonight ( even tho its not what i want to do!) anything to shift this baby into action or increase dialation before the consultant tomorrow.

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 18:11

della how overdue are you?

HJBeans · 30/07/2013 18:11

Glad you've seen sympathetic midwife, peacock, and hope tonight's festivities at least somewhat enjoyable. I've also spent a day bounc

HJBeans · 30/07/2013 18:13

Stupid phone - bouncing by the tele, am also 40w today and will also see consultant tomorrow. Hope to get a sweep tomorrow if possible, but don't really know what's on the cards.

Hope everyone has either a restful or a productive night.

ZingWidge · 30/07/2013 18:38

good luck tomorrow beans

it sounds like you are going to bed - are you not in UK or just bloody exhausted? Wink

dellabob · 30/07/2013 18:59

Hi Zing, according to scans, I'm 40 + 13

after reading the blog up thread, we've decided to postpone the induction and give ourselves the weekend. Will go for monitoring on Thurs instead now.

I feel I can breathe a little easier.

HJBeans · 30/07/2013 21:22

I'm in the UK - just knackered and all tucked up in bed now at half past nine. Smile

TomDaleysTrunks · 30/07/2013 21:42

Good luck tomorrow beans and sleep well.
No more bleeding / show. Will try DTD later. Sweep again tomorrow.

Friends threw me a surprise baby shower today. So lovely Smile

Reebok · 30/07/2013 21:48

Good luck beans and Tom with the sweep. Baby shower...aww that's nice of them.

Watching one born every minute and I think I'm scaring myself although also feeling quite emotional.

shineypeacock · 30/07/2013 22:27

Just been to the loo, and sorry for tmi, but ut looks and smells like the start of a period in my knicks, just popped a pad in and will monitor, also getting horrendous back pains, going to take paracetamol, and try to rest, should i ring hospital yet, pains are not unbearable but uncomfortable! Think i'll give it an hour and then call if still periody!

Reebok · 30/07/2013 22:41

Maybe call them up if it looks like blood. I was advised by midwife at last appointment to call if I had any blood.

shineypeacock · 30/07/2013 23:14

It was sort of browny blood, not lost anymore, and it was a small amount, might call if back pains get worse.

Reebok · 30/07/2013 23:17

Hmm maybe it's your plug then...oh all wise Zing, you're needed!!

TomDaleysTrunks · 31/07/2013 04:11

We DTD and now losing thick brown mucus. Can't sleep, feel quite restless! Here's hoping its the start of something and another sweep will kick start things. Grin

Reebok · 31/07/2013 06:55

In pain again...woke me up and made me scream. Constantly in lower back but spreads to front every now and then. Don't know how far apart as not timing. But also needing to erm clear out! Probably nothing as usual. Have induction tomorrow anyway.
