I'm due on the 17th...2nd baby and so excited. Currently in slow labour so contractions in the evening completely irregular and turning into a disappointing nothing!!!
How are you getting along??

good luck remembering! can't wait for update!

marushka my theory is that as there are only a finite amount of beds contractions will become available as new beds get freed up! Grin

wavesandsmiles · 26/07/2013 14:38

Good luck remembering I am hoping that will be delivery date buddies as well as due date buddies Smile

I'm getting more frequent and strong contractions here too. If not change in a couple of hours will ring the maternity ward.

Love your contraction theory zing - I expect that there is some sort of GPS system going on, so contractions will start up properly in the right areas dependent on bed availability.

ZingWidge · 26/07/2013 15:37

yes waves it's up there with the theory of relativity! Grin

although there is a clause based on Sod's law - if there are no beds available a surplus amount of contractions get released suddenly thus creating enough stress to speed or slow time and influence the MWs blood pressure.

I might write a book about it Grin

ZingWidge · 26/07/2013 15:37

and good news about more contractions!

Reebok · 26/07/2013 19:38

Contractions every 4 - 10 mins now for

Reebok · 26/07/2013 19:38

Past couple of hours.

ZingWidge · 26/07/2013 19:50

oh Reebok that's really good!
not long now! x

marushka82 · 26/07/2013 20:09

jealous! that's it, I can't come to this thread until I get some contractions. I'm just jealous and grumpy!

Good luck Reebok!!!

ZingWidge · 26/07/2013 20:49

oh marushka but I'm here to entertain you!

my BIL just walked through the door.
my 3 year old looked at him then said: "mummy, that man is not Batman!"

Grin so true

Reebok · 26/07/2013 22:10

Thank! Now 4-7 mins...pain increasing. Hopefully this is it and not another case of false labour. Exhausted already.

TomDaleysTrunks · 26/07/2013 22:14

Woohoo sending positive vibes to waves and reebok.nothing going here although I've eaten too much today. Far too much cake at a friends house followed by Chinese takeaway. Completely unnecessary!

RememberingMyPFEs · 26/07/2013 22:15

I'm stuck at 4-5 mins. Cracked and get the tens out. 17 hours in now and very tired but feeling like the surges are shifting and feeling the 'tightenings' (pain) deeper in my cervix than I was... I need to progress before 5am tomorrow...

Reebok · 26/07/2013 23:44

Contractions coming further apart now. Exhausted after 7 hours of this. Dunno how you're managing remembering. Trying to sleep as I'm so damn tired but can't. I think I have another few days of this...at least! Damn latent labour.

wavesandsmiles · 27/07/2013 00:57

I'm still at 3imutes but getting stronger ones. Popped up to hospital but came home as my house and garden are nicer. About to get bath number 2 and visualise cervical dilation!

Pretty breathtaking pains but staying here as long as possible.

Reebok · 27/07/2013 04:41

Can't sleep. Keep having to go loo and bad lower back ache. Contractions seem to have slowed down though. I can't take much more of this. :'(

Isitme1 · 27/07/2013 09:16

I really feel for all you ladies who are still here.
Cmon babies get out.
This bit your in is the worst as for pain relief you've got limited options but once you've progressed a lil more you can have diamorphine and gas and air.
I highly recommend p.c.a (I think its called)
Its like an epidural that works within 10 seconds and lasts a min or so and you control how much you have by a button. It goes into body via canula. Its amazing.

Its an epidural that you control and you can still be active
X

RememberingMyPFEs · 27/07/2013 09:38

Reebok, waves, how're you doing?
I'm now on syncotocin (sp?) drip... Been back in birth suite since 4am. Not happy, blimmin shattered after 28.5 hours. Hope things are better for you both Thanks

Isitme1 · 27/07/2013 09:49

Remembering that is harsh. I was on that for a bit as I was contracting but as they ruptured my waters I had ti go on the drip. How aee you doing?

TomDaleysTrunks · 27/07/2013 09:58

reebok hope it's all going ok. How are you doing now? Have you spoken to a midwife? Seems to have been going on an awful long time.

PFE how are you doing? Sounds like you are doing a sterling job. Each contraction is bringing you closer to baby. Hope synto is working quickly.

Due date today. Nothing really happening. Sigh.

TomDaleysTrunks · 27/07/2013 09:59

Any news from waves? Thinking of you x

EagleRay · 27/07/2013 10:28

remembering popping on here quickly to cheer you on and give you a hug - tiredness is the worst when you're in labour - I remember that more than the pain. My waters broke but like you ended up on drip and i was so, so frustrated at my body's apparent unwillingness to bloody well get on with it - anyway today you will meet your baby and you will carry that wonderful memory forever!

And remember the hypnobirthing will still help you whatever happens during labour - you've been very calm and focused so far - you've been brilliant!

Baby Eagleray sends her love too -good luck!

And good luck to all of you having babies at the mo!

Reebok · 27/07/2013 10:57

Pain calmed down a lot and still very irregular. You're telling me Tom. Doing my head in!

Had a bit of a scare as baby wasn't moving but I did my count the kicks and the LO is now kicking away.

cogitosum · 27/07/2013 14:06

Ds born 7am this morning. Very long labour (it started Wednesday night) and pretty stressful at the end as I stopped dilating at 6cm and needed oxytocin so had to have an epidural. All worth it now though and feeding baby as I type!

cogitosum · 27/07/2013 14:08

Oh and he only weighed 6lb 15 so he wouldn't have been ready to come out much earlier (he was born at 42 and 1 in the end) so babies reallydo know when they're ready!

marushka82 · 27/07/2013 14:23

Cogito - huge congratulations! I hope you and your little one are doing well!
