I'm due on the 17th...2nd baby and so excited. Currently in slow labour so contractions in the evening completely irregular and turning into a disappointing nothing!!!
How are you getting along??

Lol Tom at the sweep

HJBeans · 23/07/2013 16:50

Hmm - some interesting tightening of the bump going on here. Not painful and barely noticeable really, much like the BHs I had earlier in the pregnancy but haven't had for a bit, but at least it's something.

Newbie questions: Is the only difference between proper contractions and BHs that proper contractions will get stronger and closer together? And how long / spaced out / regular or not are contractions in early labour?

Hope your hunger means things are happening for you reebok. And hooray for impromptu offers of sweeps in quasi-public places, tom - fantastic!

mrsspagbol · 23/07/2013 17:08

Lol Tom that's a great story - mobile sweeps! Lol!

Reebok fingers crossed for you

cogitosum · 23/07/2013 17:23

Interesting time at midwife... Managed sweep this time but she was only able to get one finger in so not too hopeful.

Someone was worried that they hurt so just to reassure you it didn't hurt at all... It was a little uncomfortable but not really.

But after being in the perfect position for weeks he has now turned slightly back to back... Not sure what I can do as everything she suggested I'm already doing! I don't even have a sofa to lie back on (which is main reason for them going back to back) and I walk a couple of miles a day, bounce on my ball and do yoga!

cogitosum · 23/07/2013 17:29

Oh and induction booked for Friday so at least something is happening soon!

ZingWidge · 23/07/2013 17:31

hj proper contraction pains are concentrated just above the pelvis area.

yes they should be come regular and longer, but it's the "wave"-like quality that tells them apart from BH with the pain building up to a peak then reducing to almost nothing.
later, when in full labour the "wave" doesn't die away completely before the other starts off, so the pain will ebb and flow but will be pretty much continuous is I'm afraid until you are fully dilated.

the weirdest thing is how we have no clue but when it happens you'll just know.
It's unmistakable.

Reebok · 23/07/2013 17:53

Thanks Spag Bol and beans...appetite has now seemed to die down but keep getting pressure to go loo and p pains. Able to cope with the pain but coming every 10 mins or so. Again no point in getting my hopes up as this has happened a lot lately.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Cognito hopefully things will get moving for you. I asked about the sweep as I'm terrified at the thought of it!

cogitosum · 23/07/2013 18:34

Reebok it honestly doesn't hurt at all... I'd barely even call it uncomfortable.

Hopefully things are moving for you and you won't need it anyway Smile

TomDaleysTrunks · 23/07/2013 19:19

Reebok we seem to be doing the same this evening. Having irregular tightenings, couple have been quite uncomfortable. I'm not getting my hopes up either!

mrsspagbol · 23/07/2013 19:20

Reebok if it makes you feel any better - I survived a sweep and it wasn't the best 10 mins of my life but I'd do it again to get this baby out!

wavesandsmiles · 23/07/2013 20:48

Super pain land tonight. Don't want to get my hopes up as I have had this on and off, but tonight is a lot more intense. I just filled up my calendar for the next 2 days too.....

Have been promised a sweep on Monday (if I am still pg at that stage), so we shall see. Warm bath, walking/crawling round the garden and paracetamol are not touching things. Might start timing things in a bit. If this is just a warm up, it is a super intense one.

TomDaleysTrunks · 23/07/2013 21:01

Hi waves, this all sounds very very promising! Have you got someone with you? I'd start timing! My tightenings seem to have started to fizzle out.

wavesandsmiles · 23/07/2013 21:15

No one is here at the moment, not even DCs although they are due back soon. Have texted my doula and will follow up with her if things are as intense or more in an hour.

Sort of hope this it, sort of hope not as next 2 days are busy!

TomDaleysTrunks · 23/07/2013 21:19

These things always happen when you least expect. How you doing? Breathing through it? Have you tried a bath?

wavesandsmiles · 23/07/2013 21:30

Breathing a lot, had a bath bu didn't help much and was a nightmare getting out! Keep trying to relax through it all.

HJBeans · 23/07/2013 21:41

Sounds hopeful, waves - good luck!

TomDaleysTrunks · 23/07/2013 22:13

I give up. I'm never going to go into labour. GRUMP.

Reebok · 23/07/2013 22:39

Good luck waves...hope things move on for you.

Tom, I give up too. I've been having period type pains...at one point it was non stop and seemed to get worse every 10 mins but nothing now. This baby doesn't want to come out.

ZingWidge · 23/07/2013 22:43

Grin @ tom and reebok

sorry...

if your babies do stay inside forever you'll find it hard to teach them cycling...although they will be champion swimmers! Wink

Reebok · 23/07/2013 22:54

Lol zing! Thanks for cheering me up yet again.
Just fed up of being pregnant. If one more person asks me 'where is the baby? You haven't had her yet!' I will punch them!

Reebok · 23/07/2013 22:55

And these damn electric shocks I'm getting down below are doing my head in!!! Arghhhh! Sorry for being such a grump ladies.

marushka82 · 23/07/2013 22:55

Good luck Waves!

Tom - I second what you're saying! I'm hot, uncomfortable and so keen to meet this little one but feel like it will never happen as I haven't had ANY signs. GRUMP 2.

ZingWidge · 23/07/2013 23:02

reebok just point to your belly!
or say "at Kensington Palace"Wink

I do wish it to happen soon.

It's so hard to wait, I know.
think of it this way, in two weeks time you'll definitely have a baby, whichever way!

if you're bored I suggest you waddle your pg arse over here and look after my kids so I can have a daytime nap!
Grin

ZingWidge · 23/07/2013 23:03

and that goes to all of you! get over here!Wink

Reebok · 23/07/2013 23:05
