That's really bad reebok. Definitely ring the midwife tomorrow!

Reebok · 21/07/2013 12:28

Oh ok thanks ladies! Will call tomorrow.

TomDaleysTrunks · 21/07/2013 12:41

Quick check in between birthday parties and family visits. Chaos! Nothing happening today. Sod all sleep in the end. Pretty fucked off all in all.

reebok I've had less checks but 2nd baby. Seen at 38 weeks then 40weeks. However got an extra visit tomorrow from community midwife as she's my friend! Going to beg for a sweep!

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 14:39

yes Tom
it's 36, 38 & 40 weeks for para babies, in fact with one of mine we skipped 36w, went at 37, then at 40 as I was too busy...but that was my choice!

but for 1st timers is 36, 38, 39 & 40.
any concerns and further plans are discussed at 40 week check for everyone.

I'm puzzled by the lack of care rebook
but as long as you feel baby move and you are well you will be ok.
yes, do go and be seen tomorrow.

RememberingMyPFEs · 21/07/2013 15:34

Lady who's due 1st August just had her DS this am in 2.5 hours. I'm so happy for her but sooooooo wishing it was me.
Horrid back pain and nausea this morning and just feeling shattered now but back pain persists. Bouncing bouncing bouncing...

How's everyone else doing?

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea · 21/07/2013 15:36

Hi ladies, my EDD was the 16th July. This baby just doesn't want to move! I've been walking, chasing a 3yr old, ironed, bouncing!! I need a major eviction notice now!! Grrr!!!!

Oh and this sinusitis wants to bigger off as well! Sorry for being a grouch, it's really getting to me now! X

Eatchocolatedrinkgreentea · 21/07/2013 15:55

*bugger

Reebok · 21/07/2013 15:58

I'm puzzled too zing. I thought first time mums were meant to be seen more especially seeing as I've had a mmc before. But the care seems rubbish! I get that Nhs have made cuts but this is ridiculous. Will defo call up tomorrow.

Went for another longggg walk...baby does not want to listen to the eviction notice either! Instead I just come home with swollen feet.

Wouldn't mind waiting for her to come when she's ready if she didn't keep teasing me with all these contractions daily.

MonstersDontCry · 21/07/2013 17:44

I'm having a major pity party this afternoon. DP has taken DD out so I can have a bath and cry into a pile of chocolate in peace. 11 days overdue now it's so unfair. Why do I have such a cozy womb? DD was 12 days late so hopefully tomorrow will be my day.

marushka82 · 21/07/2013 18:20

Congrats Zulu and Mamachelle! Thanks

Reebok - I'm due on Wednesday (are you due tomorrow?) and have a 40 wk appointment at birth centre then. Wonder what they will do apart from the usual pee check, blood pressure and poking my bump!

I've also got a 41 week app booked for 29 July - man, I hope I won't need it!
Went for a loooong walk with DH today, got tired and sweaty and talked some more about how much we want the baby to get here already! Need to convince DH to DTD, eh...

I talked to my mum yesterday and she said although I was late (by about 2 weeks, yikes!) she just woke up in the morning with sorta regular contractions and by 4pm I was out! Apparently all her three labours were quite quick, so who knows, maybe it's genetic and once things get going I will have a quick labour too? A girl can hope, right? So far, the other genetic thing worked (no stretchmarks on bump, whew!) so keeping my fingers crossed. And of course keeping fingers crossed for all of you too! (Sorry for rambling, must have gotten me a little heatstroke, lol)

Just read this entire thread - congratulations to all those who have had or are currently having their babies! So exciting.

Sorry to wade in but I had a question about the period pain cramps being a sign that the cervix is changing.. I've had no BH at all as described earlier (hard bump) but have been having period pains in low bump and backache and needing to poo all the time constantly for about 2 weeks now. Maybe more. That can't be due to the cervix can it? Baby wasn't engaged last week, probably still isn't and I'm only 37+4 so not really due any day..

Anyway, I'm going to continue lurking now and hoping that I'll be joining your early labour club soon!

Reebok · 21/07/2013 18:51

Welcome sour sweets! Erm zing our resident smarty pants will be able to answer your question. Zingggg you're needed!!

Marushka yep I'm due tomorrow although I doubt baby will be along any time soon despite the constant teasing.

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 19:05

soursweet
I'm smarty pants. how do you doWink

is it your first baby? BH are not always felt by 1st time mums.

the pain you are experiencing are most likely caused by changes in the cervix.

they could mean you may have a baby before full term, or they might mean nothing.

my SIL (mother of 9! yes, nine!) had evening contractions/period pains with her 8th & 9th for weeks, was 10 days over with both and needed to be induced! yes labours were quick, but it just shows that you just never know what might happen.

at your next appointment you could ask them to do an internal examination. (they might refuse due to risk of infection, but they always say that)

Hi, I've also been lurking. 40+9 and just sat timing contractions watching tv. They are ok so far, every 13 mins or so and last a bit over a minute. Wondering if people would get dh home? He is on a night shift due home at 3 am. Advice much appreciated :-)

marushka82 · 21/07/2013 19:11

Reebok- at least you are having some signs! I had some weird pains (stabby, nothing like period cramps) in my tummy yesterday and got excited, but I think it was just my stomach being dodgy after dinner Hmm

Zing - any theories about genetics playing a part in how long/short etc labour will be? As in, like mother like daughter kinda stuff?

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 19:12

nervy is it your first baby?
and how quickly can DH get back?

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 19:21

marushka I don't know tbh

every pg and labour is different even for the same person as there are so many factors to consider!
I don't want to bore you with details of all of mine now - although if anyone needs distraction I'm happy to...

there might be some correlation, and I'm sure there are people who would swear there are similarities between mother - daughter or sisters.
but I don't know

SourSweets · 21/07/2013 19:24

Thanks reebok! Good luck for tomorrow, I hope baby ree is punctual.

Wow zing, if you're not a midwife you've missed a trick there, you could be charging for those smarty pants! Thanks for your answer. I hope he is a bit early but yes I am a first timer and I really have no idea what to expect.

Marushka that's a good question, I'll be popping back for the answer as my mum was overdue 4 times!

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 19:24

If anyone, the most likely people to have similar birth experiences would be identical twins I guess

Reebok · 21/07/2013 19:29

Yeh I guess so marushka. It's just that I've been having contractions since 37 weeks. It's getting beyond ridiculous now! I miss sleeping and can't manage to sleep in the day when pain is slightly calmer.

ZingWidge · 21/07/2013 19:34

thanks sour sweets

I saw my friend's baby born a few years ago and afterwards she told me that me being there was helpful so I did think about it for a while, but no I couldn't cope with the responsibility, the stress and the sick/poo stuff.

we have 6 kids, so I have a bit of experience.
I'm glad it's helpful, that's why I'm here!Smile

Reebok · 21/07/2013 19:34

Thanks sour! I hope so! And welcome nervy. Fingers crossed baby will arrive for you soon.

TomDaleysTrunks · 21/07/2013 20:11

Hi nervy, welcome how are those contractions going?
Busy day here, few twinges. Lots of BH tonight but nothing else. Should bounce on my ball but too tired. 39+1 now.
