YEY Choc thought I'd have one last check in on Choc before heading off to snoozy la la land and you came up trumps! Fabulous news! Congrats Grin

GardenWorm · 10/06/2013 22:03

Pink cots are massive in comparison to newborns, can you use your pram one at night too or just short naps? You may think your baby looks a bit lost in a cot at first....! Also are you planning on the cot being in your room or nursery? I found it easier to have baby in a Moses basket then crib next to our bed (less effort for me when doing night feeds) both of which we borrowed off family and bought new mattress for.

IBelieveInPink · 10/06/2013 22:11

Thanks garden. The pram one says it is suitable for overnight sleeping - I don't know if this means regularly?! SIL has just offered the use of her Moses basket, might start with this until we are established!

BumpKitty · 10/06/2013 22:11

Hooray choc that's brill, though most annoying about the notes!

ibip have you Doppled?

IBelieveInPink · 10/06/2013 22:17

Bump- no, not tonight. Did last night. Trying to be good and not do it every night. so tempted

jmf294 · 10/06/2013 22:58

Congrats chocolate on your scan!!
IBIP- here for hugs and support, I was just the same 2 weeks ago and it's horrid.

I used a wooden crib for my 2, I didn't go for a Moses basket as I was concerned the dog would knock it over. I like the crib and my daughter stayed in it until she was six months old until she moved into her cot in her room.. I have had a spending spree today and bought maternity clothes from Gap, John Lewis and ASOS!!
Night all.

pumpkinsweetie · 11/06/2013 08:19

Congrats on your scan chocSmileSmile
Counting down the days until mine now and hoping it goes fast until thurs morn as my nervousness is ramping up big style.
Woke up this morning with a giant spot on my chin and uncontrollable sneezing, lovelyHmm. The headaches also seem to be getting the better of me and have continued on and off for weeks so docs soon for me!

LuckySocks13 · 11/06/2013 08:38

Fab news on the scan choc :)
Pumpkin, I've had lots of headaches too this time. I have to go to bed really early as if I'm tired much worse. Hope you get some advice from your gp x

Pentagon · 11/06/2013 09:06

congratulations on your scan choc! Shopping now (yay!) I hope you find some nice maternity trousers Smile

And 3rd trimester anda - woohoo! When are you due, you're not in the stats, are you? (I could probably work it out but brain isn't working at full speed yet)

ibip I know how you feel - my anxiety over the 20-week scan is getting worse and worse. I'm even starting to doubt that I've been feeling the baby these past 2-3 weeks, I woke up this morning thinking but maybe it's all been in my head and I will have really bad news on Friday...

I had DD in a moses basket for the 1st three months and then moved her to her cot - it was a nightmare, she hated having so much space and it took her a couple of months to get used to it. So now I'm contemplating using a cot from the very beginning but maybe it was just my DD, so many people go from moses basket to cot without any major problems...we'll see

I hope you enjoyed the shopping spree jmf!

shellsocks · 11/06/2013 09:07

Aw garden glad she had a good time, it's what's it's all abt isn't it Smile

I don't know if my bump was just being awkward but last time it never got on with under or over the bump jeans....I got given a bag full of maternity clothes and never wore any of the jeans Confused

Re Jojo - if you google Jojo Maman Bebe voucher code you can usually got a code for 10/15% off Smile

If anyone finds a light weight maternity jacket with a hood can they let me know I ordered one from Jojo nuts it's too heavy so going back Hmm

Enjoy your Hols janie Grin

bump a few days after my 12 week scan this time I was very poorly with a bug, suspected appendicitis the cramps were that bad...it was very scary I was convinced no baby could survive through that pain but all is ok Smile They are in a total separate 'system' and it doesn't effect them...just gotta watch for dehydration Smile But...if it comes back avoid the pasta and sauce and either avoid food for 24hrs or plain toast, sorry Wink

So sorry abt the SPD gary I had this with DS and it's horrible Sad Try and get a physio referral, the exercises and support belts did make a difference Smile

pink I think your worries sound pretty normal for one of us I'm sad to say Hmm Just gotta ride it out and the chances are so high now that all will be fine...mine is two weeks on Fri and is starting to creep in to my mind too Confused Also agree with getting something smaller than a cot if possible, loved my moses basket last time and it fits so much easier in your room than a cot Smile

Yay for HB lucky GrinGrinGrin

Wahoo for scan choc GrinGrinGrin

And for third trimester anda final hurdle now Smile

I went away for the night last night to a gig...I am knackered! Gotta drive back in a bit and my back is still aching! Worth it tho Smile Was my first night 'away' from DS too which was strange, looking forward to seeing him loads Smile

shellsocks · 11/06/2013 09:10

pentagon my friend is a nurse on a baby ward and she gave me a great tip for moving up to a cot....take a towel By the opposite corners and flip round to make a sort of snake....then cover with a sheet and make an arch over where babies head will be....this makes them still feel enclosed so they don't notice...it worked a great for us Smile

Pentagon · 11/06/2013 09:20

thanks so much shell! Good to know, I'll definitely give it a try!

IBelieveInPink · 11/06/2013 09:57

Pentagon- Ive been doing that too!! Doubting that the wriggles are actually wriggles at all. Could just be digestion for all I know!
Thanks for all the reassurances ladies. Really appreciate it. Just wanting time to go quickly so I can check on baby!

And thanks for all the advice on sleeping arrangements. I spoke to DH about it last night, we are going to start looking around for things soon after the scan. Maybe then will be able to stop worrying!!

WillSantaComeAgain · 11/06/2013 11:04

Morning all - fab news on the scan choc

Just goes to show how contrary babies can be, pentagon and pink. We moved DD to a cot and she slept through for the first time on only her second night. We did try going straight into the cot as I'd heard it can be a nightmare, but she just looked so tiny and vulnerable in there, it seemed wrong, so reverted to a moses basket for the next 2 months.

Feeling queasy this morning again, which I hope is a shot of progesterone boosting placenta production (i.e. a good sign). I've tried an entire bag of wine gums and two bags of hula hoops to stave off the queasiness Grin #eatingfortwo

andadietcoke · 11/06/2013 17:40

Pentagon - didn't want to jinx anything Hmm

My EDD is 10/9 but some hospitals induce dcda twins at 38w which will be the end of August. Can't get any answers from my hospital about this at all - leaflets contradict what doctors say and vice versa. Going to get some answers on Tuesday hopefully.

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 11/06/2013 18:33

Evening all - I have online shopping issues - lots of things in baskets but can't make up mind what to actually order (let lane actually try on and keep!)
I have some Mamas & Papas chinos and a top( in sale but still think they'll be meh when they arrive) Isabella Oliver vest and top (but balking at the price even though they'll be good quality and I know I'll wear to death) can't decide on a couple of dresses in Asos (need something for a wedding in August and for FiL's 60th in Sept - need to order while they have them in stock though as there will be nothing nearer the time)

Ugh - need a kick up the arse. Think I will list my CBFM on eBay tonight and can then feel better about spending money....

So who has scans coming up?
Pumpkin on Thursday
Blackholes next Tuesday
IBiP a week on Thurs?

Anyone else coming up?

IBelieveInPink · 11/06/2013 18:41

Choc - I can't believe it, I totally forgot asos do maternity stuff!!! I know what I will be doing tomorrow lunchtime!!
What is their sizing like?

My scan is a week on Friday. Wish it was week on Thursday, one day sooner would be great!!

Diet - what does dcda mean?

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 11/06/2013 18:55

Ibip - looking at the size guide I'm thinking true to size, can't remember if I had any Asos stuff last time though. If they do free returns will have to order 2 sizes I guess. They are the only place I've found wedding appropriate dresses which aren't tight jersey ones. I had a ruched Isabella Oliver dress last time, but my backside is huge now (and probably was back then too) so don't think I can do that again Blush

Bodicea · 11/06/2013 19:04

Hi choc, little tip, the asos stuff is good but i made the mistake of ordering a swing dress which was massive on me. I think the swing dresses are more appropriate for later stages of pregnancy as they are a bit sac like and the skater dresses are better in earlier stages xxxxx

andadietcoke · 11/06/2013 19:16

ibip me on Tuesday too.

DCDA means di chorionic and di amniotic ie two sacs and two placentas.

shellsocks · 11/06/2013 19:19

I got this dress for a wedding last time

www.redonline.co.uk/fashion/what-to-wear/night-out/maternity-evening-dresses

on eBay, should of been £110 I think and I paid £20 and it was unworn with labels etc....worth a look for occasion wear that you know you will only wear once when pregnant Smile

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 11/06/2013 20:11

Ooh Shell! I love the Tiffany Rose dresses - was your one of those? Now looking at them on eBay....
Thank you Flowers

Pentagon · 11/06/2013 22:01

anda I understand Smile; my sisters-in-law, who are twins, were born 2 weeks early; not sure if that was due to induction or it just happened naturally - the latter I think...I hope you get some answers this week

choc I have a scan this Friday - eeeek!

santa funny how different babies can be....that's what makes me think I should try the moses basket and cot in the same order again; and you're right a newborn would look tiny and vulnerable in a cot

that dress is gorgeous shell - well, I have no weddings or special occasions to attend in the next few months so no excuse/reason to buy anything really nice...

BlackholesAndRevelations · 11/06/2013 22:32

So it's not just me who didn't want to jinx by adding to stats! Smile

Erm this is totally irrelevant in the grand scheme but if there's a chance, (not sure how far at the end if august your twins may arrive) try and get them to wait til sept 1st for induction! Like I said I know it's irrelevant really but if you have the chance to put them off going to school for another year, take it. The difference between an almost 5 yo and a just 4 year old is HUGE.
