Ooh are we doing names! As we have already had ages to think about it now think we have ours down.. A boy will be James for definate as that was my granddads name and I think that it is a lovely 'classless' name. The girls name was harder as most of the girls names I liked ended in n ie Josephine etc which doesn't work with our surname. Anyway think we have finally settled on Charlotte - with the possibility of calling her Charlie from the start. I like girls names that sound a bit boyish as I think they sound cute and sassy x

I fancy a water birth as I love my baths and it looks more chilled. I don't know which is worse pooing in water or in your bed!

jmf294 · 05/06/2013 18:10

Names are so hard!!

James is a favourite for us too Bod!! And Charlotte was our 2nd favourite girl's name.
Seeing that I'm probably having a boy this one will probably be James, I also like Daniel and Alex. My husband likes Henry/ Harry.
For girls I like Eleanor and Charlotte.

I haven't had a natural delivery, one emergency and one planned c-sec. The emergency was after 2 days of contractions and no progress and then the baby wasn't happy. C-secs are ok and if you need one I'm of the opinion that a safe delivery of the baby is the only important thing.

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 18:10

Garden - yay for heartbeat! And I'll have one of your labours please, they sound nice!

Names - we still haven't managed to agree on any girls names! Which is a problem as I am pretty sure this is a girl.

Speaking of which - which ones of us are findig out the sex at the 20 weeks scan? I definitely will be (baby dependant!) 2 weeks on friday. Can't wait!!

And just for reference, it wasn't me who started the threads on waxing and makeup. I think Gary just mean that there was some threads on that on here, i don't think I would be calm enough to sort my face out before getting to a hospital, promptly!! :)

Lieslvontrapp · 05/06/2013 18:43

Hello ladies do you mind if I join you? Ive been on the posifrickintivity thread on the conception board for the past 5/6 months. Had a mmc before Xmas which was discovered at a private scan at 9 wks. Resulted in an erpc. So Ive just got a bfp and I think I'm 4 weeks today which means I'm due mid feb. Really pleased but obviously really nervous and therefore trying not to get too excited. Trying just to take it a day at a time. Sounds like you ladies are much further along but would be nice to join ladies that know what getting a bfp after mc is like.

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 18:51

Hi liesl!! Yaay! Nice to see a new recruit, and of course you welcome! We all due at different times here, although there is a slight bunch around November/December, but definitely welcome. And hopefully a few more will join you soon!

Definitely a day at a time. Book lots of stuff in to keep you busy/distracted. But remember - today you are pregnant. :)

Kittykatmoll · 05/06/2013 18:53

I would like to join this thread too, please.

I'm five weeks today and had a miscarriage in January. Things were going well until some bleeding, cramps and a trip to the EPAC yesterday.

However, right now I am still pregnant.

I've got my first scan on the 18th of June.

Fingers, legs - everything crossed for all of us.

Lieslvontrapp · 05/06/2013 19:07

Thanks pink! There's lots of names I recognise on here that graduated from the posifrickintivity thread a few months ago. Luckily we go on holiday in 3 weeks for almost 2 weeks so hopefully that might distract me during the early weeks. Been wondering whether to book a private scan for when we get back as id hate to get to 12 weeks and realise things had gone wrong a while ago. How many of you had early private scans? I haven't been to the gp yet. Didn't go last time as receptionist just booked my booking in appointment with a mw for the 10 wk mark which I ended up having to cancel.

Vixjane · 05/06/2013 19:10

stitch congrats on the scan!

Welcome lies and kitty congrats on your bfps. kittysorry to hear about yesterday.

Congrats on hearing the heartbeat garden. Got my 16 week appt on friday so hoping for this as well!

We have a shortlist of namesbut they keep changing! If we have a boy his middle name will be James as both mine and DH dads are named James.

ibip DH wants to find out the sex but i'm not sure! He's said he'll go with whatever i'm ok with though!

Also went swimming on monday, first bit of exercise in 4 months. My new job is just down the road from the pool so hoping to make it a regular thing.

andadietcoke · 05/06/2013 19:13

Hi Liesl and Kitty congratulations!

I think most of us have had private scans. However, it'll probably only allay your fears for a little while so try and stick it out as long as you can, so you can see more, and so there's less time to wait before the 12w scan.

My next scan is the 18th June too Grin feels like an age since my last one (6 weeks) and am really (really) tempted to have a private scan but that seems a bit daft and a waste of money as by the weekend it'll only be ten days away, but I just want to check they're growing okay [stamps foot]

In other news I got bitten rescuing a mouse from the cats this morning and so have antibiotics, and I've had my first braxton hicks contractions which are, well, weird to be honest.

And yay stitch Grin

andadietcoke · 05/06/2013 19:15

Names - we don't really talk about it, but so far the only ones we can agree on are Charlotte and Sophie. I love Charlie as a NN but our's would have to be a Lottie - our surname is Brown Wink

jmf294 · 05/06/2013 19:40

Congrats and welcome Liesel and Kitty.
Wishing you both a healthy happy pregnancy.

I had a private scan at 8/9 weeks at the Fetal medical centre and then as I had the harmony test I had a scan at 11 weeks and 13 weeks.
I think if you want a private scan it's good to try to wait to 8 weeks to get a good chance of seeing the heart beat.
Here to hold your hand thorough these early days as early pregnancy is stressful!!

Great news Stitch- congrats!
Andadiet- Sophie and Charlotte are just perfect for names for your twins- I'm not biased either!!!

Bodicea · 05/06/2013 19:50

Congrats leisel and kitty, nice to see some new faces.
I agree with JMF. 8 weeks is best time. don't go too early as their might not be a heartbeat if the dates are a bit out and it will stress you out.

JMF - james is awsome- I also love the name alex but it is unfortunately a no go as my ex before i met DH was called alex. Gutted as its such a lovely name!

diet - that made me chuckle. definitely stick to lottie.

Not finding out sex here. Everyone says how exciting it is finding out and announcing the sex when baby arrives. Plus I hate pink. So a girl would be in more gender neutral stuff anyway whatever - a la posh and becks little girl who doesnt do pink but still looks cute.

LuckySocks13 · 05/06/2013 20:26

Hi all . Greetings from menorca! So sorry to hear Mummy's news :( with regards to names my DS is James! Jmf I could have written your list. My own name is even on there! I was told at 12 week private scan ( internal) it looks like a girl for us this time. Probably be Charlotte, kate or Francesca ( not actually sure how to spell that one!) after bleedingast week thankfully no more although had bad cramps last night. Nearly 16 weeks now I think . I forget now I'm away! Been a good distraction! Welcome newbies. Glad you are here :)

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 05/06/2013 20:36

Hi Liesl & Kitty - congratulations on your BfP's!!
I had a reassurance scan at 9wk4days which was great, I have my 12wk scan tomorrow afternoon and am now bricking it that something will have gone wrong in between. So while I think early scans are good, they don't stop the stressing for that long Grin

We are going to find out the sex as I think it wil make it easier for DS (2.5 now) to understand if he can relate to a name. We are currently thinking of Rupert or Georgina (Georgie) - Rupe is after MR Campbell Black but I'm slightly concerned about it being easy to be picked on for? But we will have at least 2 middle names so he can always swap.

I secretly wish I'd added "Danger" to DS's birth certificate so he could have the line "Danger is my middle name" (yes I'm that sad)

DIYandEatCake · 05/06/2013 21:07

Welcome liesl and kitty! Wishing you happy and uneventful pregnancies. Great to see new people here.

Well I had my 12 week scan today, all was fine (well, we opted out of the downs screening so no nt result but all orherwise looked normal) which is a big relief. The scanning machine was loads better quality than with dd, only 3 years ago, we could see so much more detail, was amazing to see little hands and feet. And the sonographer gave dd a scan pic which was lovely, she was clutching it in her little hands all the way home and pointing out the head and legs and hands, she loves babies (hope she still feels that way in 6 months' time!). Dated 13+1 so due 10th Dec.

Vixjane · 05/06/2013 21:16

Congrats on the scan diy!

Morning afternoon evening and night sickness has returned with avengeance! Urgh!

shellsocks · 05/06/2013 21:18

garden brill that you heard the heartbeat Grin. And sorry is I've freaked anyone out talking abt my labour...ill be honest it was bad and all I felt was relief it was over and DS was ok, not proud or lucky and I prob think abt it a bit too much (not surprising at the mo i guess!) so please tell me to stop if I am freaking anyone out, I won't be offended Grin BUT out of all my friends I'm the only one who had such a bad time, most found it really manageable, 1 only felt a bit of a tummy ache till she was almost 10cm and another the whole thing only lasted 45 mins! And honestly, once I had DS all to myself I was so happy I stayed awake all day just looking at him despite being exhausted..then I felt totally lucky and amazing Grin Totally agree with jmf safe delivery is all that really matters x

bod pooing in the water must be worse as you would see it Confused ha ha

Re names, my girls name has been Evie since my first PG but am struggling to find a boys name I like as much as DS...so far Jake, Elliott and Max are front runners....Alexander goes so well with our surname but we are big liverpool fans and just can't get passed the Ferguson connection AngryBlush

We're not finding out this time (were desperate too with DS) and looking forward to a surprise Smile

Welcome to liesl and kitty Smile

BumpKitty · 05/06/2013 22:05

Hi liesl and kitty glad to have you both with us, I was thinking we hadn't had any graduates recently and yes pg after mc is really stressful but it's brilliant we are all here right now and we will help each other till we all have scrummy little babies in our arms :)

liesl I had a scan at nearly nine weeks, it was great definitely worth the money

Ace news diy

We are finding out the sex here too, DH is desperate to know and like choc I think it will help DD bond with the baby, I don't think we'll decide a name before the baby is born though.
bod I love James but my DH is a Jamie and i grew up with a dad and brother with the same name and its not very practical!
anda love your names too, now no more rescuing mice ok! Was it the mouse that bit you or the annoyed cat!?

Hi everyone else, I have read back through twice now and can't find who it was who said they had a scan tomorrow so whoever you are very good luck, lucky socks at the ready :)

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 22:06

Yay for a happy scan DIY!

Oh not many of us finding out then! I had assumed it would be more- but then that's just because I hate surprises :)

And please dont apologise for labour stories. I like hearing them, it helps me feel 'prewarned' if that makes sense :) the more the better!

Pentagon · 05/06/2013 22:20

Welcome lies and kitty, congratulations and good luck! I also think 8-9 weeks is a good time to have an early scan, I had one at my local EPU at 6 weeks where we saw the heartbeat but I was fully aware that most miscarriages happen between 5 and 8 weeks so it didn't really stop me from worrying! Then I had a private scan at 10 weeks which was more reassuring.

DIY great news on the good scan and choc all the best for tomorrow!

I have my 20-week scan next week (eeeek!) and we'll find out the sex provided everything is fine of course! So haven't really thought about names yet but for boys Alexander has always been a favourite - don't know what DH thinks to it though (no name discussions till after the scan). With DD it was easy, we found out at 20 weeks that it was a girl and immediately agreed on the name - she has DH's grandma's name which we both love (middle names took a while though). If it's another girl we'll have to think hard!

I agree with jmf amd shell - safe delivery is all that matters!

anda you've been bitten by a mouse?!?! Oh my goodness, I hope you're OK! And braxton hicks? I don't think I had those with DD, it must be weird!

DIYandEatCake · 05/06/2013 22:30

pink we'll be finding out the sex if we can too.

Good luck tomorrow chocolate (hope I remember right and haven't got people muddled up!)

I'm hoping to get a shot at labour this time, dd was born by elcs as she was breech and I felt a bit sad to miss out on the experience of labour completely, though obviously glad that dd was delivered safe and well.

andadietcoke · 05/06/2013 22:35

Heehee pentagon I'm fine - it was a tiny bite - only bled for a second. The cats had brought it in and DH (nominated bird and mouse catcher, I do spiders) had gone to work. I thought he just picked them up so I was brave. He doesn't. It sounds like he builds a mouse 'ramp' and escorts them up it and out of the front door. GP gave me antibiotics as it broke the skin. Tetanus is up to date after an Indian trip a few years ago or would have needed that too. Next time I'm just going to let the cat have her fun... Angry

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 23:22

Ooh diet, that sounds very brave! Well done you!!

(Lols at mouse ramp!)

GardenWorm · 06/06/2013 06:06

Great news DIY! Grin

Good luck for today Choc, what time's your scan?

Pink not sure you would want my labour, went on a bit...but thats a story for another day, im just one of those wierd people who doesnt care that bits of it were crap!

whilst I remember 2 things: 1) You don't have any internal exams at the midwife appts until you get to the overdue stage and they try a 'sweep' (ha ha - always makes me chuckle), I wish someone had told me this as I kept wondering. 2) When your waters break they can just trickle and be prepared for them to start sniffing your sanitary towel! Lol!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 06/06/2013 06:24

Something I learned at Nct classes: only 15% of lavoirs actually start with waters breaking! Nothing like in the films/soaps. With DD they went after 2 days of latent labour pains at home, and with DS the midwife had to break them when I was already in established labour, to get things moving quicker.

Welcome liesl and kitty! Great to see you here. Wish you an uneventful 9 months! Smile

Good luck for scan today (sorry can't remember either!) and congrats DIY Grin

Mine's on 18th too same as Santa and someone else (sorry my memory is truly pants!)

Have a good day all x
