Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bodicea · 04/06/2013 20:47

So sorry for your loss mummy.
I am another that has had two miscarriages in a row, not too mention no previous children, and is now pregnant again. If you have had a healthy pregnancy already then I think it is most likely that it is bad luck and that sonographer was talking rubbish! I also had an ERCP the second time and it was much better for me too xxxxxx

GardenWorm · 04/06/2013 20:52

Yeah, I've thought that too Shell but then I think how peeved the midwife who fills it up would be if I got out after 3 mins...can't imagine they would be impresed and I want a happy midwife that likes me not one that wants to slap me. Lol!

Choc I tried the Tens too but that just hurt! Ha Ha!

shellsocks · 04/06/2013 21:09

Good point Grin. Ah the tens machine...I remember being sent home when I first tried to go to hospital, and they gave me something so i'd sleep but the contractions woke me up every 3-6 mins...I'd press the tens machine on and then go back to sleep repeat for four hours! Nightmare! Did help in the early stages tho, more to give me something to do than pain relief tho!Smile

GaryBuseysTeeth · 04/06/2013 21:37

The socks I wear on the 21st shall be my luckiest of socks!!

I might give a water birth a go, although convinced this one won't turn & I'll have an elective C-section off that!

Trying to think positively and looking at baby names atm. It's harder than I remember (and DS was nameless for 5 days!).

IBelieveInPink · 04/06/2013 22:58

Ooh Gary, what names are you thinking? Or is it secret? :)

JanieLovesLuckySocks · 04/06/2013 23:22

Ooh good luck with all the upcoming scans!! lucky socks at the ready!!

I quite fancy a water bath. My friend and her partners are big hippies and opted for one. He got in with her and then stayed in it even after she got out!! I told DH and he was nearly sick hahaa!!! He can't even watch one born every minute so god knows what he'll be like on the day!!

We've no ideas about names, not going to tell any friends as I don't want anyone turning their noses up of saying something that might put me off. I like Anna and cara for girls and I love Leo for a boy but DH doesn't agree. It could be a tough one!!

BumpKitty · 05/06/2013 10:38

I like the idea of a water birth but last time I sort of forgot to ask for one! I did go on the big hospital bath for a while which was good but when I got out it looked like someone had killed a pig in it (sorry a bit graphic!) I can't imagine DH would have been too happy to sit in that! Not to mention the poo net for scooping out any floaters!

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 10:43

I'm sorry - as a first timer I am a little naieve to these things so please bear with me...... POO net?!

pumpkinsweetie · 05/06/2013 10:43

Grin bumpkitty, don't think my dh would eitherGrin. Never had a waterbirth, maybe it's something i could consider this time if i'm allowed, doubt it though as i'll be under obsterician care because of my bmi so think it's the bed for me again. But aslong all goes well i'm not fussed.

stitchinline · 05/06/2013 10:45

Just back from scan and all good, very wriggly baby and still measuring ok for dates - actually put me 2 days ahead.

Had a bit of trouble getting the bloods but they're all done and I guess will soon be off for testing, I really don't have good veins!

No chance of a water birth for me - have to be in consultant unit plus not a fan of baths normally.

shellsocks · 05/06/2013 10:47

Ha ha no way would my DH get in with me, poo net or not Grin

pink it's to catch any ahem floaters...DH assures me I never did (i was upright till theatre so MW would've had to catch Blush) but honestly wouldn't have known abt it if I had so am blissfully unaware and it's one lie (if it is) he can take to the grave GrinGrinGrin

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 10:47

Fab news stitch, pleased to hear it. :)

shellsocks · 05/06/2013 10:48

Cross post....great news stitch Grin you must be relieved Smile

Pentagon · 05/06/2013 10:59

Congratz on the good scan stitch, fab news!

I wanted a water birth last time but developed a temperature when I went into labour (UTI apparently as I couldn't pass urine either - sorry TMI!) so couldn't give birth in the midwife-led unit. I was quite disappointed but all went well in the end and I couldn't have cared less about the change of plans (if you can ever plan a birth...ha!) - I was ecstatic that my baby and I were well.

pumpkinsweetie · 05/06/2013 11:15

Smile Yay stitch, congrats on your scanSmile

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 05/06/2013 11:37

Great news stitch Flowers

Sorry if this is TMI - but with DS there was a bit of poo. DH Shocktold me afterwards that he saw it coming out but the MW just quickly wiped it away (he was quite impressed at that bit)
Sounds awful, but at the time I was much more focussed on getting DS's boulder like head out of me that I really didn't care.
You an't do anything about it - so it's really not something to worry about.

GaryBuseysTeeth · 05/06/2013 11:45

Congrats stich!!

Love Anna & Cara Janie! We would use Leo as a middle name, but I'm starting to think it's a bit too 'obvious' for an August born boy?
I will post in babynames (when I'm feeling braver) but you lot seem to have decent taste Grin
We like longer names with multiple diminutives (if this were a girl Elizabeth, Katherine, Cordelia were front runners), traditional/poncey is good.
DS has the same name as the crab from Little Mermaid, the names we keep coming back to are Alexander, Matthew (I hate Matt though) & William...DH has vetoed but I love Benedict & Raphael. DH likes Jason & Joseph. Any ideas?

IBIP, it's crazy that you have thread on here about wearing make up or waxing before labour...when the reality is you'll probably spend most of the time weeing (and possibly pooing).
DH promises me I didn't poo with DS! However I did wee over everything so much so that a bucket & mop was needed for under the bed

Should we update the stats list? I can't bring myself to delete the names of those who've since lost their babies Sad

shellsocks · 05/06/2013 12:16

I love Matthew gary but it's my DH's name and DS's middle name so we would look a bit mad if we used it Grin. I love Sebastian too but not as keen on Seb (sorry)....it's so hard finding a name that you like all the derivatives Confused

pink I kept myself quite sorted until I went into labour but it lasted that long I was a stubbly mess with 3 day old makeup on ha ha nice Grin

I've been thinking the same abt the stats Hmm

IBelieveInPink · 05/06/2013 13:43

Gary - love cordelia! DH has just said no though :(
What about benjamin? Or, you seem to like traditional names, what about Solomon? or Jeremy?

Wow never thought there would actually be such a thing as a poo net. Oh I have no illusions that labour is going to be anything other than a horrific mess, which is why my hospital bag will include a 'fix my face' kit!

BumpKitty · 05/06/2013 13:52

ibip yep a poo net really exists! But I didn't pop during my labour, loads of people do though and I honestly couldn't have cared less and although I am making it sound terrible labour isn't all that bad really Grin

I really like Matthew too, maybe it's due a comeback, all the little boys were called Thomas or Max when I had my DD. talking about nicknames I really like Rebecca but not too keen on Becky hmmm this is tricky

BumpKitty · 05/06/2013 13:54

Oh an fab news stitch :)

WillSantaComeAgain · 05/06/2013 15:18

I haven't seen IBIP's thread on waxing but its something I feel very strongly about. I don't think legs matters and I def wouldn't bother with make up, but boy oh boy am I glad I got my lady bits waxed. After an episiotomy and a labial tear (ouch) it was a relief that I didn't have to worry about hair getting stuck to the scabs. Or worse, the threat of getting shaved (not sure if they ever have to do that) as I can't imagine anythign worse than stubble rash growing through at the same time as your stitches are healing in other words, itching

So my waxer at the time advised me to keep it as regular as possible, with a "final" wax done in the week before my EDD.

Congrats on the scan stitch.

I'm finding it really hard not to plan for this one - as I've been pregnant for five months already in the past year, I can't help thinking about things like birth plans, names, nursery plans for DC1, mat leave etc. And I'm trying to not think about it.

So, I'm meeting up with my sister this weekend. I know she will notice my increased girth in the tummy/boobage area, and as I know that she knows we were trying (and about the mcs), I know she will be speculating. I can't bear the idea of her talking about it, so I'm debating whether to tell her, but on the strict strict instructions that she is NOT to discuss it with anyone (but her DH) and she is NOT to get excited or say congratulations. Or do I just claim that my diet has fallen off the wagon and wear a very baggy t-shirt. I can't believe I'm this big already Sad

WillSantaComeAgain · 05/06/2013 15:19

Oh, and I think an updated stats list would be good. I do feel awful that the sadly out of date list is still up at the top of every page - its just a reminder of all the misfortune that all these lovely people have suffered.

GardenWorm · 05/06/2013 16:09

Nice one Stitch! Grin

I had my 16 wk midwife appt this morn and we heard a booming heart beat - YEY - I want one of their Dopplers!

So, just to unfreak those first timers: yes labour hurts but you are expecting that anyway aren't you? And I found the worst bit was the not knowing what it was going to be like, once it started it was a relief (in a perverse way!). It is the most amazing experience and one that I feel lucky to have had and can't wait to have again because the end result truly eclipses anything else. Mushy! Lol!

Pentagon · 05/06/2013 16:26

garden I couldn't agree more - giving birth is an amazing experience and one that made me feel very proud and lucky to be a woman (I remember at the time feeling sorry for men who never get to experience this miracle)

and yay for listening to the heartbeat!
