welcome stitch! Congratulations and all the best for your pregnancy!

JanieLovesCake · 25/04/2013 17:41

Lucky how are you? Did you call the epu? Xx

Bodicea · 25/04/2013 18:34

Hello stitch, nice to hear from someone who had a happy ending x

Had a scan today, 10w6d by scan. Actual wriggly baby. And had booking day before I which I was given half a rainforest in booklets! So feeling like this is actually happening now for real.
Got my maternity leggings in the post when I got back. They are awesome - from jojomamanbebe - so dont have to worry about leggings falling down all the time - highly reccomend especially if you are getting a bump already like me. I should add whenever I put weight on it goes straight to my waist - classic apple - so I really do look pregnant already!!

Wearing them out tonight to see Sean Locke x

AmberSocks · 25/04/2013 18:43

hi can i join?

i am 6+5 with number 5!my children are 5,4,3 and 6 months, was not plannig another one so soon, but it seems the midwife was right ad breastfeedig on its own really isnt a reliable form of contraception :-)

anyway,we are very happy, was planning more somewhere along the line so its just a bit sooner than expected!

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 25/04/2013 18:44

Anda - that's lovely news, did you get the sonographer to write it down or just find out there and then?

hi Stitch (waves)

lucky could be a cyst on your ovary? I think they are quite common in early pg, but usually go before 12 weeks ( but not always) Bodicea am I right or talking bollocks?
Anyway hope you've had some comfort from calling EPU?

Wow Ambersocks - congratulations and welcome.

IBelieveInPink · 25/04/2013 18:47

Oh bod that's so exciting! It must feel real now, I heard after 10 weeks if you see wriggles etc, chances of bad things go down to less than 1%. That's amazing, so exited for you!

Lucky - hope you are doing okay!

Diet- what did your DH and mum have to say about the girly bundle? :)

Dopplar is on way over later tonight. I am very very aware that I may hear nothing at all, and that THAT IS OKAY. I am purely doing this because if I can hear anything it will make me relax more (just putting this in so I can re-read later when panicking!)
Any tips from anyone who has used before?

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 25/04/2013 18:48

Oops Bodicea missed your post - great news re the scan, must be such a relief. I still have soooo long to wait.

Corpus luteal cysts normal and look after pregnancy hormones in early stages. They are the follicle that you would have ovulated from that didn't collapse when you got pregnant if you get what I mean. They can be a bit tender.

Bodicea · 25/04/2013 18:58

Pink - I have only used medical ones that aren't related to pregnancy so not sure if they are they same but you get a better signal with them at an angle. No Doppler signal 90s to probe -works on the principle that sound has to be moving to or from prob - is Doppler effect - ambulance changing sound as moves to or from you x

Bodicea · 25/04/2013 18:58

Sorry 90 degrees

JanieLovesCake · 25/04/2013 19:12

oh bod that's just brilliant!! delighted for you! :) enjoy sean locke!

pink good luck with the doppler! hope you can hear something, and if not just yet, hope you're ok with that too. remember it's super early

ambersocks congrats and welcome!! fair play to ya girly on your 5th!!!

chocolate when is your scan date? my next one is 31st may which is soooooooo long away and i'll (hopefully) be 14 weeks then. defo going to get a private one at 12 weeks to do the NT scan...best price i could get was £189 but they're booked out, next best £225 (gulp). my mum offered to pay for it but it's a lot to take from her so i migh try to scrape it together myself unless she really insists.

in other news, i found out one of my really close friends is due exactly the same day as me!!! she lives in england (i'm in ireland) and she emailed to say that she had an announcement, that they were buying a house. i obviously had to out-do her and tell her i was pg - she rang instantly to say she was too!!!! so excited!! she's had a tough time too so i'm so delighted for her, just wish we were closer to share the fun!

i'm watching the voice on catch up and i'm crying my eyes out. dunno why...must be a touch emotional today ha! luckily at home alone!!

shellshock7 · 25/04/2013 19:42

Hey stitch am the same with DS, so happy he's here, worth all the heartache Smile Have you got any plans re early scans etc?

Congrats bod that's great news Grin What a relief!

Hi amber congrats and welcome Smile

pink take your own pulse first (I time for 15secs then x by 4) so you know what that speed is. Have a full to bursting bladder and angle deep down low in your pelvis and if you think you hear a heart beat, time that so you can confirm its not your own pulse...be patient, don't stress and good luck Smile

andadietcoke · 25/04/2013 20:01

Hi stitch and amber congratulations!

bod yay! I had a scan around then and they look like 'proper' babies. So glad everything's going well. And I have a newfound respect for sonographers today - you must have the patience of a saint doing anomaly scans!

ibip I'm quite a lot excited for you. My mum looked horrified at lunchtime when I mentioned I was contemplating getting one - she says it would make me neurotic! But I know how much hearing them last night calmed me...

We didn't get the sonographer to write it down in the end - lots of people told me they wouldn't do it at my hospital and we just got to the point where we wanted to know! Because we've all thought it was two girls my mum wasn't really much of an audience. DH has also had dreams so was perhaps more prepared than he would have been otherwise.

Off to start my spreadsheet list Grin

DIYandEatCake · 25/04/2013 20:48

lucky how are you? Hope you're ok and no more pains.
bodicea that's brilliant news, must feel wonderful to have seen your baby. Are you having another scan at 12w or is that it til 20w now?

Hi stitch and ambersocks

I have my follow up scan tomorrow to see if there's a heartbeat - will be 7+1 - am feeling unusually positive for me (!) thanks to the recent nausea and headaches but am still nervous about it and know I will be so gutted if it's gone wrong again. My milestone's approaching - 7+6 last time - so if I'm still here next week I'll be ecstatic! Smile

BumpKitty · 25/04/2013 21:08

ibip have a look on YouTube there is bound to be a video of someone with a Doppler :) and good luck

anda I think a Doppler might be a bit stressful with twins, can you hear both heartbeats at the same time? Sorry if that's a daft question! And I am ridiculously excited about your spreadsheet, it would be so much fun to plan a nursery for twin girls.
bod ace news on your scan, very pleased for you
diy good luck for tomorrow :) remember your lucky socks!

It's my booking in appt tomorrow, I'm not looking forward to it, luckily they do them at your house here so I will have DH for support.

Hi stitch and amber and other newbie (cant scroll back to last page!) welcome aboard

IBelieveInPink · 25/04/2013 21:09

Boom be doomp be boom be doomp be boom be doomp. :)
To anyone who is not as mental as me and therefore does not understand, that is what bebbys heartbeat sounds like :) yaaaaaaaay!

andadietcoke · 25/04/2013 21:12

DIY good luck tomorrow. Will be a massive relief to get through a scan and a milestone. Everything crossed.

Bump I like admin! You have to listen to the heartbeats separately, so find one and then the other. I think of want to get one of the dopplers with the digital read out so I'd be able to tell the difference. Not in any hurry - will see if I'm going to have a consultant appt at 24w as that would be a good interim check between now and next scan at 28w.

GardenWorm · 25/04/2013 21:23

Nice one IBIP (think I could hear it from here!) and fab news Bod I'm off to check out those leggings. Lush!

shellshock7 · 25/04/2013 21:24

Ace pink what a great sound hey Smile Now you have to try not to get obsessed with it Wink

JanieLovesCake · 25/04/2013 21:24

yipppppeeeeee ibip woop de woop de woop de woop!!!!!!!

good luck tomorrow diy x

DIYandEatCake · 25/04/2013 21:30

Woop ibip! That's really early to find a heartbeat. You are going to be tempting us all to try it now...
Off to find some lucky socks. And will definitely be stroking my lucky tomato plants before I leave (they are still thriving, that has to be a good sign, no?)
bump good luck for tomorrow, it will seem very real when you have stacks of leaflets!

DIYandEatCake · 25/04/2013 21:32

Thanks everyone. I would be far crazier without this wonderful thread, love you all!

Vixjane · 25/04/2013 21:33

Hi stitch and amber. Congratulations!

Congrats on the scan bod!!
