Woo hoo Santa a heart beat beats a little bit of spotting. I found it a massive relief.
janie you sound a bit like me. I am normally rational central, I think I worry about the right stuff just about the right amount.
last week I started to think a little bit about shopping for mat clothes, now with the scan looming I am fretting over every symptom/lack of symptom, gradually convincing myself it is all going to go Tits up. This degree of anxiety is really alien to me and I am finding it tough going. I think see through wombs is the way of the future.

JanieLovesCake · 10/05/2013 18:54

totally Aoife. i never stress, i never see the point as it i just don't think stressing helps anything. apart from now, i'm shocking myself. maybe because this is so incredibly important in comparison to anything else i've had to deal with in the past (other than mc obv).

and i had a dream i had a see through belly once...not good. now that was alien!

IBelieveInPink · 10/05/2013 19:22

Vix- you have absolutely no legal requirement to tell them, unless the job involves any sort of Health and safety risk, in which case they would need to ask you. I assume it doesn't. (I work in HR so I know the boring technicalities of these things)
Personally I also wouldn't tell them, because as much as you are supposed to have legal protection, strangely enough they always manage to find an appropriate reason to not pick the pregnant lady!

Does anyone know what a good screening result is? I know under 1 in 150 is high risk, but what is the average result that people get?

jmf294 · 10/05/2013 19:23

Vix- I totally agree with the others in not mentioning your pregnancy. I had a job interview last time I was pregnant and said nothing. My notice period was 3 months so it was rather obvious when I started work!!

Mummy- your numbers sound like they are doing just what they should be. Roll on your scan.

Santa- great scan news- hope the spotting has all gone now.

Janie- good luck for tomorrow, everything crossed for you. Hope you get some sleep.

Aoife- hope the harmony results are good, do they let you know early if not. I have mine next Thursday and am terrified!!

Hi to everyone else!!

Well my plan for the weekend is a 3rd birthday party for my daughter and 17 of her friends!! Thank god it's at a soft play and they are doing all the catering. Will be strange as both sides of the family will be there and we are still keeping quiet about our news!! Last time my brother in law guessed when I was 8-10 weeks as he said I looked different. Lets see if anyone says anything tomorrow!!

Aoifebelle · 10/05/2013 19:42

vix if I was you I would keep my gob shut until I had the contract signed.
Janie great to know that it is not just me struggling with the loss of my senses.
pink I think how good your results of the combined test can be is limited by age, but I don't know the facts and figures.
jmf I don't know how they give the results out. I think that they sometimes do come back earlier than two weeks, but don't know if they tell you earlier than the second scan. Good luck with the party. 17 toddlers, you are brave.
Now for a weekend of vegetation interspersed with complete freak outs.

Bakingtins · 10/05/2013 19:46

Great news Santa!

Janie good luck for tomorrow!

IBIP I'd take anything better than your age related risk as a "good result" Even 1 in 150 is less than one percent affected, and your risk of miscarrying a normal baby after an invasive test would still be higher than having a baby with Downs. I think that would be my personal decider on whether to have amnio etc if I ever get that far and god forbid I have a high risk result I'd only do it if the risk was higher than 1 in 100.

IBelieveInPink · 10/05/2013 19:58

Thank you so much baking, that was just the sort of link I was looking for!!
Perfect info.
I got my letter today. (earlier than expected!) result of 1 in 2048. From a quick browse of the info this looks like a good result so very happy.

Maybe it's time to start believing this is happening now..... :)

Pentagon · 10/05/2013 20:20

That's great, pink congratulations! Your letter arrived really quickly, mine took 10 days or so.

jmf, I was told I would get my Harmony test results when I would go back to the FMC for my 12-week scan. I didn't ask any further questions but on a different Mumsnet thread someone said that she asked and apparently they call you if you get a positive result (I think that would be about 10 days after your 10-week appointment) But don't quote me on that!

hi to everyone else and have a lovely weekend! x

BumpKitty · 10/05/2013 20:39

Ooh that's good ibip are you going to start telling more people? I haven't had my letter yet but it's not 2 weeks until Monday.

aoife and janie i know just what you mean about the anxiety being completely out of character. It's so tiring to be worried so much! I think it's having absolutely no control of something so monumentally important. I'm not good with no control Grin

so I found out today the woman who had the baby on Tuesday had to be induced 3 weeks early as her kidneys and liver weren't functioning properly (mum's not baby's) and she was told the baby could be stillborn if it went to over 38 weeks. It's made me feel a bit stupid for assuming she had waltzed through an easy pg, I guess we never know.

jmf 17 3 year olds - arrgggghhhh! I guess your family may suspect as you won't be crawling around in the soft play - or maybe you will!

janie good luck for the scan - lucky socks prepped and ready! And good luck with the doppler if you do go for it again. Remember it may be hiding behind the placenta.

pumpkinsweetie · 10/05/2013 20:47

janie Goodluck for tomorrow
mummy you numbers are doubling, so going what they should
vix Goodluck with your job interview Smile
santa Such good news about you getting to see your baby's heart beating Smile

My midwife is going to post my booking back tomorrow on her rounds and is visiting me tue, as after telling her i had a mc i would like to see her sooner rather than later, so rather chuffed she has agreed to see me so early. Just hope she pops my pack in before i have visitors though, as i want them to remain none the wiser on my pregnancy for now. Hope im not foiled!

JanieLovesCake · 10/05/2013 23:08

Thanks for the luck messages. lucky all the best to you for tomorrow as well, sending you a million good vibes xxx

IBelieveInPink · 11/05/2013 02:37

Dear god I spoke to soon. Why was I thinking it was time to enjoy this? Literally half hour after I wrote that, I had a big bleed. Went to a and e, then got transferred to maternity hospital. Finally had a scan about 5 hours later, baby safe and happy for the moment. Had to be woken up so we could see a wiggle. Not sure where bleed came from, but has scared the living hell out of me. Just got back from hospital and not sure I will sleep tonight, or ever again! Sorry just had to share the drama.

Janie- bestest of luck for scan tomorrow, will be thinking of you x

Mummytothearkbuilder · 11/05/2013 05:18

Pink - bless you, sounds like a really scary time hun - pleased you got to see baby wriggling around and know that he / she is safe in there. I know it's hard but try and get some rest lovely xxx

I woke at 5am so decided to do my last clear blue digital as I wanted it out of the house. Last Saturday it read 1-2 weeks and I was expecting it to still say 1-2 weeks as my hormone levels are low but it surprised me with a 2-3 weeks which has reassured me a bit more. DH has pleaded with me not to test anymore so I am going to try and be good!!

Janie - good luck with the scan today my lovely!! Xx

jmf294 · 11/05/2013 05:38

Good luck wishes to Janie and Lucky for your scans today- will be thinking of you.
Pink- hope you are ok now, pleased to here baby is ok, glad they scanned you at hospital.
Mummy- hurrah for 2-3 weeks, those clearblue tests are such a clever marketing ploy, I fell into the must keep testing trap.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend- I hate waking early especially when I am so so tired!!

GardenWorm · 11/05/2013 05:50

Flippin eck pink you poor thing, must have scared you half to death? At least you got to see wiggly baby. I suppose it's quite normal and common in pregnancy but doesn't feel that way to us does it? I hope you have managed to get some sleep and rest and your blood pressure hasn't gone through the roof. Big hug.

Good luck today Janie & Lucky

Great news Mummy - don't think you are supposed to test after so many weeks anyway as you start to get false negatives because the levels are to high for the sticks to cope (or something slightly more scientific!).

Hello everyone else and fingers crossed to stress free weekends all round xxx

Mummytothearkbuilder · 11/05/2013 06:57

Thanks ladies - I have no more tests in the house so won't be testing anymore - I did consider buying another clear blue next week to see the 3+ weeks but hubby did not look impressed when I mentioned it!! Xx

IBelieveInPink · 11/05/2013 06:57

Thanks ladies. Bleeding seems to have stopped this morning, for now at least. Yes, scared out of my mind would describe it well!
My blood pressure went up a bit- at one point my hear rate was 134- think I was racing babys heart!!
So I can joke :) but I am now terrified of even moving. This worry isn't going to go away for a while is it!

IBelieveInPink · 11/05/2013 06:59

Oh and sorry - yay mummy for the 2-3 :) as much as clear blue are the devil- seeing them go up helped me :)

Bakingtins · 11/05/2013 07:27

Hugs for ibip that must have been awful. Glad you are both ok. Take it easy today!

mummy it's all sounding positive.

good luck to those with scans today.

ChocolateCremeEggBag · 11/05/2013 07:38

Wow Pink good to hear everything is ok now but must have been a horrible night for you.

Good luck for the scans today Janie and Lucky

JMF am in awe of the soft play party - DS will be 3 in November and as we are now going to lots of his older friends parties it's dawing on DH and me that we'll need to reciprocate with some kind of party then Shock

Well survived first night of me and DS sharing a double bed at my DSis's - at least until 4 am when he realised I was there and moved the pillow i had between us (bony elbows and pointy feet grrr)

Hello to everyone else - hope everyone has nice weekend plans Flowers

BlackholesAndRevelations · 11/05/2013 07:53

Thank you all for kind words re: dp. He snapped out of it...for now! Not even sure what caused it but he has apologised.

Pink- how scary for you, you poor thing Sad so glad everything looks ok. Take care xx

Good luck for scans today! I have mine in 4 sleeps... Argh! Luckily I have an extremely busy day at work on weds so won't be thinking about it all day long.

Good news about the clear blue, mummy... Now step away from the tests!! It's bizarre, when I was pg with my son I only did one test as I was too scared of doing another and it being negative. This time I've done three and still have them (gross!) as im worried that if I throw them away, the worst will happen!! Mental. Will throw them when I have a little healthy baby in my arms (fingers crossed very tightly)

Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

BlackholesAndRevelations · 11/05/2013 07:55

Oh and congrats on seeing the heartbeat, Santa! Smile

DIYandEatCake · 11/05/2013 08:05

Hugs, pink, that's so scary and I really hope that's the last time it happens. Hope you get lots of rest and being looked after this weekend.

janie and lucky good luck for your scans.

mummy, all sounds good. I fell into the clearblue trap, worried myself sick when I still got 2-3 at 3.5 weeks after conception, stressed me out til I saw the heartbeat at 7w scan.

jmf wishing you strength for the soft play party! Hope you manage not to do too much, and that your ds has a wonderful day.

Mummytothearkbuilder · 11/05/2013 08:41

Thanks ladies blackholes glad your dp has snapped out of it - men are funny creatures aren't they! I have been with DH for 11 years (since I was 18!!) and even now find him bizarre at times!!

DIY I was worried about falling into the trap too - I am not testing anymore - I think if I test again next week and it still says 2-3 weeks I will think the worst when it's probably all fine. I knew that last test was in my draw so felt compelled to pee on it - if there is a stick in the house I will be weeing on it!! No tests left now!!

Lucky13ForBaby · 11/05/2013 08:48

Thank you for all the scan well wishes. Am really scarred. Roll on this afternoon. I have been such a bitch to DH. Keep snapping at him and he fed up of it. Doesn't help that DS got up today at 5.00am so am shattered. So sorry to hear of your bleed pink :( how absolutely terrifying. So glad all has stopped now and you got a scan. With regards to pregnancy tests I did about 10! Blush last one was lighter and scarred me to death. Step away from the tests! I threw mine last week but did take a photograph of them . Lol. Happy weekend everyone. Enjoy parties and other festivities fingers crossed for a little sun! C
