Ooh which way round does the heartbeat thing go? Is it quick for a boy or girl?
That's lovely vocal, its really reassuring isn't it :)

pumpkinsweetie · 07/05/2013 10:59

Wonderful news pink Smile!!
Voca, wow sounds exciting. Getting so jealous of all these dopplers Envy, from how many weeks do they work?

GaryBuseysTeeth · 07/05/2013 11:09

Congrats IBIP!!
Vocalista, Garden, hurrah for Doppler hb's!
pumpkin, this is my 2nd DC & the Doppler picked up a hb from around 9-10wks, however I couldn't find it with DS until after 20wks so it may not be the most reassuring thing in the world!

Good luck for today Bod!

Chocolate, I think Doppler noise garden sound like an ace band. They could release the singles Fannymasons & Pooh cat socks Grin

Bakingtins · 07/05/2013 11:46

Great news IBIP Grin

GardenWorm · 07/05/2013 11:55

YES! YES! YES! To ibip! X

pumpkinsweetie · 07/05/2013 12:13

Phoned my gps surgery today to get me on the midwifes books, only to be told it cant be done over the phone. I have to go there and fill in a 'pregnancy encounter form' Grin, and then that will be forwarded to the midwife who will then phone me with an appointment to see me at home. Cant remember all this with my dc, seriously a pregnancy encounter form??!! I nearly chuckled myself silly when the receptionist said it Grin. Will do it tomorrow, and hope the midwife doesn't phone me whilst my mother is here, as no-one knows except dh and sis yet!

andadietcoke · 07/05/2013 12:31

ibip yay! Brilliant news. Have you got lots of photos?

I think they say faster for girls - at the private scan at 11w they were both in the late 160s and my mum said then that meant they were two girls, but my friend's boy had a faster HB than her girl, so don't think it's an exact science.

I still really really want a Doppler [stamps feet]

IBelieveInPink · 07/05/2013 12:38

Yeah got a few photos, some very clear ones too! Thanks for all the congrats ladies. Never thought I would get here. Can't stop smiling!!

Ooh and if heartbeat is anything to go by- it'll be a girl then. 181 bmp. Wow. And I have been having distinct girl feelings too. Eek!

Vocalista86 · 07/05/2013 12:52

Pumpkin a pregnancy encounter form?! Sounds like something out of a science fiction movie :) Also I picked up the HB for the first time at 9w6d but I'd been trying for about 10 days previous to that every few days. It can sometimes take 15 mins to find it though, determination is key!

Pink could you see fingers and toes and everything? Thanks

IBelieveInPink · 07/05/2013 13:08

Vocal - yep! Fingers and toes. Actually have one picture which is just baby's hand waving to us. Damnit it is very hard to concentrate at work this afternoon!!!

JanieLovesCake · 07/05/2013 13:19

Yay ibip!!!!! Super fab news!!! And waving at you too, what a nicey :) brill!! I bet you're on cloud 9!!

And living the band name and song title suggestions!!! Maybe there'll be a new girl band (ie us!)

Thanks for the well wishes, feeling slightly better today but still groggy, in work and downing the honey and lemon!

DIYandEatCake · 07/05/2013 13:23

Woop pink you've done it! Really pleased for you. Good luck bodicea today too.

Just trying to catch up on everyone's news, been away for a few days visiting family and there are just a few more pages here Grin. It's nice to be home again, although it was lovely to see everyone we're all a bit tired and grumpy and need some rest now. Poor dd was carsick everywhere just a few minutes before we got home, really struggled with the smell cleaning it all up!

Still plodding along here, 9 weeks Thursday, eep! I've just found out that sil is expecting a baby too with exactly the same due date (15 dec), v happy for them but feeling a bit guilty that my first thought was 'oh no, what if it goes wrong for one of us?'

Mummytothearkbuilder · 07/05/2013 13:32

Hi ladies

Can I tentatively join you?

I was on the support after miscarriage thread and got my BFP on Friday so I am only about 4 weeks. I am SO NERVOUS about everything - I wish i could be all perky and excited like when i was pregnant with DS but I am just terrified - I knew nothing about miscarriage or what could go when pregnant with him - ignorance really is bliss sometimes!!

I have taken loads of tests over the weekend all of which have shown a positive result however the result line is never as dark as the control line??? I have also taken a Clearblue digital which said 'pregnant 1-2 weeks' so i know there is something in there!!

I have been to my Drs today and they are testing my HCG and progesterone levels and I also have to go back on Thursday to make sure they are doubling. The Dr did say to me that the faintness of the line has no bearing on the healthiness of the pregnancy which has reassured me a bit.

I will be getting a scan at 8 weeks but that seems like a lifetime away!!

Sorry for the long post ladies xxx

Aoifebelle · 07/05/2013 13:44

Woo Hooo Pink. I knew today was going to be a good day.
pumpkin can you scan in and post the 'pregnancy encounter form'? I would love to know the questions - 'When did you encounter the pregnancy?', 'What did the pregnancy look like?' 'How would you describe the encounter?' 'How long did the encounter last?'

Got to the bottom of OH's sulkiness - wondering if anyone else is encountering this and has come up with anything to help. He is feeling a bit left out as I pretty much come home from work eat and fall asleep - not much craic at the mo. Sex life has also seriously dropped off which isn't helping. He also earns alot less than me and his provider genes seem to have kicked in big time. We had a good chat, and I think he is a bit more reassured, but I just want to make sure that I am doing what I can so that he feels involved, appreciated and loved.
Any ideas?

BlackholesAndRevelations · 07/05/2013 13:48

Great news pink!!

Welcome mummy, I'm so pleased for you! Remind me (if you don't mind) of your history? I'm still wondering if I might be able to get an early scan after two miscarriages but a doctors appointment is like bloody gold dust and I haven't been able to get one yet Sad just managed to arrange a telephone one for next Tuesday. I will be out with friends so god knows how I'm going to talk openly about what I want to talk about!! Anyway once again welcome to the thread!

Ho hum! Hope everyone's having a lovely day. Soooo don't want to go to work tomorrow!

BlackholesAndRevelations · 07/05/2013 13:50

Ps Aoife, I'm afraid we've been having similar issues. Think we've decided to have a date night weekly, and stick to it... Hope it works!! Even if it's just sitting watching a film together or excitingly, painting Walls together! (tonight's job!)

Mummytothearkbuilder · 07/05/2013 14:05

Thanks Blackholes - I had a miscarriage in Feb at 6 weeks - I was feeling really lonely about the whole thing and the support after miscarriage thread really helped me through. I was not expecting to get a BFP so quickly so am still in shock!!

When I spoke to the EPU following my miscarriage they said that I would automatically be offered an early scan as I have had a miscarriage and the community midwife confirmed it when i spoke to her on Friday - she also said that the midwife from my surgery will see me earlier than normal which was reassuring. I went to my Drs at 8am this morning and the Dr said that they would happily do the HCG and progesterone test to reassure me but that would be it (which is fine with me).

I am trying to create little milestones in my mind to get to but honestly its less than a week since my BFP and I think I am completely neurotic already!!

DIYandEatCake · 07/05/2013 14:09

Welcome mummy, if it's any reassurance I panicked early on cos the line was fainter on the second pg test I did, then I got some clearblue ones that showed 2-3 at exactly 3 weeks and the same a few days later... Then I got bad cramps and went to the gp in a right state. I was convinced that it was all going pear shaped like last time but a scan at 7w showed a tiny baby with a heartbeat. Nearly 9 weeks now and still have many wobbles.

aoife your oh is lucky that you are being so understanding! It is a big adjustment for partners to make I think, I found when pg with dd that dp was much better after the 12 w scan when he'd seen the baby and also when I started getting a proper bump. I think you're doing all the right things in keeping talking, maybe try and do something nice on a day off together?

WillSantaComeAgain · 07/05/2013 14:15

blackholes - just excuse yourself and tell them you've got a phonecall with the doctor that you're not comfortable having in public. There are a gazillion things that it could be.

I've got my GP appointment on Friday, in which I shall be begging and pleading for an early scan. Depressingly (and not at all posifricitively) I shall be asking for a scan at Hospital A as I know the drill there if it all goes wrong, even though I would want to be booked into Hopsital B.

On the countdown for symptoms to start properly... with the one successful pregnancy, the waves of nausea and bone shattering tiredness had started by 6 weeks exactly. I'm 6+1 today and feel peachy. Sad Instinct was right on the last two and my instincts are not good again.

Bakingtins · 07/05/2013 14:31

Isn't it crap that it varies so much what care you get after a previous miscarriage? Even after 3 I would get zilch on the NHS - have only had RMC testing because I went private to see a consultant, and EPU won't see anyone unless you are actually bleeding or prepared to lie and say you are

santa IME every pregnancy is different and I have felt as crap in the ones that went badly as in the ones that went well. I hope you are reassuringly sick and knackered soon, but try to stay positive until then. It's impossible for your 'instincts' not to be a bit battered by previous bad experiences.

Bakingtins · 07/05/2013 14:32

Mummy so pleased you plucked up courage to come across!

Bakingtins · 07/05/2013 14:36

Grin at the 'pregnancy encounter form'. I'm not going to book in during first trimester this time, have had 3 pregnancies fail within days of booking appointments and wasted hours of my life filling in the stupid forms, only to rip them into a million pieces a few days later when it all goes wrong. I'm planning to contact the midwife direct (same one who looked after me in my successful pregnancies) and ask her to book me in late if I get as far as 12 weeks. Will be having early scans with the consultant anyway and am taking more folic acid than you could shake a stick at. I doubt very much I'd be missing anything important.

WillSantaComeAgain · 07/05/2013 14:38

I've spent ages looking for the NICE guidelines on early scans after miscarriages, and its seems to be a category that slips through the net. Our EPU won't see anyone unless you have bleeding or pain unless you're prepared to lie which is crazy, particularly when I've had three midwives TELLING me to lie. Not a good use of resources.

It also makes me get unreasonably Angry at women who get early scans because they don't know their dates. Really? Really? Everyone knows when their period is, don't they??? [woman on the edge emoticon]

WillSantaComeAgain · 07/05/2013 14:43

Hmm, baking what about referrals for NT scans? That's my concern with not getting a booking appointment.

Had a lovely day on Sunday - few more people there than last year (when it was cancelled) but no busier than I remember for a sunny weather one. I love the way it shows the entire spectrum of society, from the skinny, tans from St Barts, hoorays with their long flicky hair, dubarry boots, skinny jeans and stripy shirts all the way to the slightly dazed looking fat sunburnt chavs in too skimpy clothes and who look like they should be in Skegness [no offence to either category - I'll let you guess which one I'm in]

Procrastinating really badly at work. I'm working on a project that's been on my desk since February and I'd forgotten how dull it was.

BlackholesAndRevelations · 07/05/2013 14:44

Santa- loads of hugs to you xxxxxx

I do know that my poor friend who had a mmc wasn't allowed an early scan this time (she's now pg again) so I don't hold out much hope... Except for maybe the fact that I had two mc?

Baking- I was really hoping to have an early scan before my booking in which is next Thursday... They fill out the form with you at the appointment so I want it to be worthwhile....

Positive news: I've just had to come in and eat some toast as the heat out there was making me feel crap... Got to be a good sign?!
